Is Pgi A Worthy Holder Of The Rights To Mechwarrior?

Anyway, I ask this because after witnessing quite a number of whiny posters complaining about how "PGI is a sham" and "we should bankrupt them" etc,etc after the recent nerfs, it got me wondering how others feel about this topic. What are your opinions?
I also have trouble figuring out what company outside of PGI would be willing to take on the prospect of holding on the the Mechwarrior franchise considering how niche it is, and the first real attempt at resurrecting it only happened over a bleeting decade after the last MW game. Could it be said that PGI saved MW from complete obscurity then, since no other company appears interested in it outside of Harmony Gold trying to milk us via "lolsuemore"?

people complain about buying mechs now, just imagine if they got their hands on it.

I wouldn't say they are worse then PGI though.
yes, because PGI has been known to buy out smaller companies just to exploit their series, only allowing older series to continue if they make good DLC or Microtransaction cows.
This game would have been abandoned, and we would be on like Mechwarrior 13. with each game only surviving long enough for DLC to be released.
There is a reason EA has been voted worst company in America several times.

Sure, the game has its flaws, and PGI have made some fairly serious blunders in the past, but I think that just goes to show how small of a company they are. I think people often forget that PGI aren't a triple-A developer. They don't have that level of resources or experience. You can't compare them to the likes of EA and Activision.
I see a lot of people asking for pretty unrealistic things in-game. The only way these people would get the game they want is if MWO was a triple-A title. Which is isn't. Until these people come to terms with that they're going to be continuously un-satisfied. I personally am pretty happy with the game. I still enjoy it, and I appreciate the progress in both game development and customer relations PGI has made recently. Could a bigger, more experienced studio do a better job? Sure. But they aren't. I think given PGI's abilities, they're doing fine. And as you point out, even if you dont much like MWO, but love battletech, MWO is better than nothing.

maybe the decision for the cryengine vs. unreal engine wasn't that smart - but nontheless, I love PGI for the steps they have taken to revitalize Mechwarrior/BT
if the game ever gets PvE it'S the best MW game I could wish for
PGI is fine, especially since the old publisher is gone

They release a new mech and it doesn't instantly become meta? Whining
They nerf the top mechs to a reasonable level? whining
They add features people have been begging for, for years? whining
Seriously, you would have a hard time finding ANYTHING that these forums agrees on. So never judge how good this game is on the forums.

Would you want to develop a game for the MechWarrior community at this point? I sure as shootin' wouldn't, and I'm such a colossal sucker for MechWarrior and BattleTech that I still bought half of Resistance II even though I don't really pilot Spheroid 'Mechs anymore. Pardon me for saying it, but this place is kinda hip-deep in total bassholes.

I would.
And I have.
EA lost my business permanently after all the BS that happened with Battlefield 4. Which is a god-damned shame because I had been looking forward to the Star Wars Battlefront game.
That all aside. After the Harmony Gold debacle over the trailer for the reboot from Smith and Tinker, who else could really pick up the BT/MW franchise? Or be willing to with the threat HG constantly looming in the background, waiting to pounce.
If Smith and Tinker hadn't run afoul of HG, it's entirely possible that we'd be playing a much different MWO game than we are today.

Also activisions roots are with MechWarrior 2 unless the development department has been cut off from Activision.
Also does anyone have better ideas? I sure don't.
Rockstar, Bethesda, Valve, Tripwire, Overkill.
Activision went down a dark path.

i would like to think that pgi is more fair than most of the f2p devs out there. thing is the model, no matter how successful financially, only takes good games and intentionally makes them bad (there was a south park episode about this if you need proof). dirty psychological tricks thats no doubt making the kids crazy. wait times up the wazoo. grind. no modding community. the model requires you to do these things to maintain a steady stream of income.
its better than subscription gaming, but not by much. it might have other advantages in the long run. it can fund a "professional" dev team and extend the life of a game, and it likely wont suffer server abandonment as quickly as some of the games from the last decade. but f2p is too new to make predictions on where this game will be in 5 years.

I do think pgi is doing the best they are capable of doing.
where pgi really shines is their art department. The mechs in this game are the best artwork made for battletech. Be it tt or video games.

First problem is Harmony Gold which always will look on a new MW game for licence fees or lawsuits. Second Battletech as awhole is a game from mid 90s and could need serious overhaul to make it more appealing to a new customer base.

Oh good lord. ANYONE but EA.
Not touching anything EA. If any other company did MWO I think the mechs wouldn't look anywhere near as good (and don't you dare argue with me that old BTech models look like crap) and probably far worse down the F2P rating. The game's pretty fun right now though I agree with the lack of tutorials and a more in-depth experience for CW, other than that, I'm fine with the title is right now.
People seem to think a different company could have done better. Just look at every other MWO game ever made and look at what PGI produced. Visuals alone for the mechs wins hands down. And since this is a mechpr0n game that counts for a lot.

I'm often critical against PGI, but I can't deny that at least they try their very best to bring us a great game.
That's at least much more worth than having this game at a soulless publisher like EA.

EA haters unite!
And with EA they'd have shut the game down after a year. RIP E&B.

Wandering Samurai is a good one where ever the world is Raven from Lucas Arts went they would be also a good one they made a unique shooter that eventually people just duel on with light sabers they still do today.
That is Ravens game by the way from Lucas Arts when Star Wars wasn't bought by Disney.
