Is Pgi A Worthy Holder Of The Rights To Mechwarrior?

Yeah. They are worthy, because no other company was willing to risk it. Nobody else was worthy, or they would have done it, themselves.

little dated, but overall a good account of the good people who love this game getting bent over. I would not mind seeing the option to buy all this out and corrected by people that really care about the franchise.
This is why I check in every 6 months or so to see if these clowns have their circus in order. And yet again... I'm not surprised. I wish the author of that timeline hadn't given up in 2013.
The most telling part of that timeline is the deadspace between january and august 2013, while they "were most certainly not diverting resources" to their cash grab transverse fiasco. What a bunch of a-holes.
ps- not sure why my legendary founder isn't showing, cba to figure out what they changed to make it visible.

Then we all owe PGI our gratitude for giving us a chance to play in the first place. If not for PGI, then nobody would be playing a licensed version of Mechwarrior right now.

I'm afraid that you are actually believing the things you are saying. That's scary.
Why haven't all the Founders who left MWO gone to MW:LL? Why do they have to wait for MWO to go away? Why can't MW:LL get more than 25 people on a day?
Like MWO MW:LL is not the game for them. Myself included.
They have to wait because PGI will sue them just like last time.
It cant get more then 25 because it doesn't satisfy the BT/MW ich... it is kinda old graphically. unless your a hard core fanboy like those found in EQ. its a mod. players are lazy and want single button instals.
Don't forget to use some hyperbole with my statements. The IP will live on no mater what PGI does with MWO.
Some day a fanboy will start a new version of MWLL as a mod to halflife 4 perhaps.
Over all my point is PGI/IGP are not worthy of the IP since they alienated the founders.

Anyway, I ask this because after witnessing quite a number of whiny posters complaining about how "PGI is a sham" and "we should bankrupt them" etc,etc after the recent nerfs, it got me wondering how others feel about this topic. What are your opinions?
I also have trouble figuring out what company outside of PGI would be willing to take on the prospect of holding on the the Mechwarrior franchise considering how niche it is, and the first real attempt at resurrecting it only happened over a bleeting decade after the last MW game. Could it be said that PGI saved MW from complete obscurity then, since no other company appears interested in it outside of Harmony Gold trying to milk us via "lolsuemore"?
Actually, PGI have did pretty well out of MWO. Of course it doesnt have the all encompassing depth that we would all ideally want, but the game has probably been successful enough to revive Mechwarrior as an IP, and you have to start somewhere. Nothings perfect, and I'm sure each of us probably has some sort of vision that they would like to see come from a Mechwarrior title, but no-one is ever going to be 100% happy as the game also has to make money as that is a condition of success.
Generally speaking, the deepest rooted problems seemed to go away with IGP. So yes, I hope they are able to hold onto the franchise and do something more ambitious with it in the future.

I'm still annoyed about ghost heat.
I'm still annoyed that we dont have 2.0 heatsinks,.
I'm still annoyed every time I fire a gauss rifle.
But the core game is still fun. Now with the recent nerfs made to my Timberwolves, instead of getting enraged and grabbing my pitchfork again, I simply refunded my Mauler purchase.
If they revert the laser nerfs I'll glady purchase a mauler pack after the fact. If they stay. They are out 80 bucks. If the majority of the people are upset and do this and they notice a huge decline in sales then we are speaking with our wallets. No need to grab any pitchforks.

They STILL deliver honestly...
I do feel that PGI could seriously improve the game if they simply looked at the past. Look at the games we loved and what made them fun.
honestly if PGI just said "WE ARE GONNA MAKE MECWARRIOR 4 with Shiney new graphics!!!!" I would have sold organs buying stuff from them. MW3 and MW4 were incredibly fun experiences and they are the candle we hold MWO up to...MWO is doing many cool and innovative things but there is lots of room for improvement and tweaking...I am still sorta happy in how the introduced clan mechs, unhappy about the influx of this weird quirk system, but I enjoy the game enough to be willing to wait and see how far down the rabbit hole it goes.

PGI isn't a worthy holder of a fishing license let alone this one.

Please to enjoy Repair and Rearm using real money.
CW and PvE as separate DLC.
AND criteria for winning a match is moving the ball to the endzone.
You would have to P2W with your Tom Brady Stalker N with slightly deflated cooldowns.

I'm blaming PGI for setting up the spawns facing each other and being so close together. I'm blaming them for doing that and giving one team cover and leaving the other team in the open. It was literally the first seconds of the game with each mech being focused fired on, there was nothing anyone could do. This should have been fixed after their first play test!
I'm blaming them for their stupid terrain hitboxes. For some reason playing quake I never got stuck and my shots weren't blocked six feet in front of a wall. A 20 year old game figured this out yet PGI struggles.

-I seem to remember a 500$ for a gold coloured mech.
-250$ to access all of the clan mechs with no details on how they worked forthcoming. Merry Christmas reveal.
-The original way they wanted to put in paid consumables.
-Charging people 9-25$ for omni pod quirks or wait months for them to become purchasable by C-bills.
They ain't exactly a shining beacon of pro consumer kids. They're better then nobody but that's kind of a given and the numbers or lack thereof speaks far more on if they did the IP correctly then you or I mentioning examples of what happened or could happen if they didn't run things.
I mean at some point I thought they genuinely cared about mechwarrior and at the time they really did but now? I honestly don't know.

Who was Smith and Tinker? They originally did the Mechwarrior Reboot thing...where did PGI come from and where did S&T and Jordan go?

The artwork and game play are all good rarely does anyone complain about these. I feel the artists and programmers do an acceptable job on what must be limited resources at times.
Management, development and direction are another thing entirely. There are times where I feel that Russ has no idea where this game is going and he certainly doesn't know which audience he is trying to appeal to. There have been decisions made, (which some people just can't seem to accept as reality), that have directly led to a large number of people leaving this game and not coming back, nor are they likely too. It doesn't matter whether you were a founder or signed up last week as of right now there is no appeal to this game beyond mindlessly grinding out your next mech whilst shooting other robots.
From the figures I have seen from my unit, other units I know and my very own friends list, only about 1 in 50 people stick this game for more than about 6 months(often far less). Fewer still for the longer haul. Of those that are still here you can bet it's because it is the only BT game in town, not because they love PGI.
FWIW PGI need to add some depth to this game fast, they need to reinvigorate it so that they can entice past players back whilst still attracting new ones. It is widely acknowledge that this game has limited appeal. PGI can not rely only on a constant stream of new players to provide them with income. Nor can they rely solely on the remaining whales either.
The answers PGI need are out there, right now, they just need to listen.
MWO looks like a Battletech/Mechwarrior game. But at it's heart it does not live up to it. That needs to change, sooner rather than later.
If this game was not tied to the BT/MW franchise, if it was some generic robot shooter it would have failed, miserably. They would not have gotten the $5million kick start from the founders nor would the whales still be here to pump money into it. PGI needs to do the universe, that is their meal ticket, justice or they will nail the lid down on the coffin of the franchise once and for all.
