Generally the OP does have a point the game is not that great at creating good matches but I don't think removing the MM entirely is the answer. PGI have a difficult task finding an answer, I think.

No I am a middle of the road (maybe lower) player who has no problem facing whoever gets dropped across from me. I fear no player.

So why do you dislike the MM and why is the OP your hero? A middle of the road player is likely to be facing a wide variety of opponents right now, it seems to me.

Seriously, come up with a better argument next time instead of calling people names.

Yeah those of you who want to get rid of the matchmaker are morons. Sorry for being blunt, but it has to be said.

I liked the game a LOT better before ELO and split queues.

...Yes solo.

Cause like I said I want to face any and every player in this game. The Match maker pretty much does not allow that. heck On any given night there can be 12 of my friends in game and I just about never drop with them in PUG.

As to teh OP he is my hero cause he spoke his mind and to hell with what anyone thinks. I can respect that. Is that a problem for you Warner?

I mainly fear my teammates with the current system.

So yeah, the MM needs to go.

Which will be immediately followed by half the player base after they get ROFLstomped continuously for a couple of days.

The matchmaker isn't perfect, but it's vastly better than the free-for-all we had before it existed. I'm consistently amazed by people who can't seem to remember what it was like back then.

Because humanity is at stake. With budget cuts to NASA we might not make it off the Earth in time...

Aside from Ping, Low FPS, and HSR.

A couple of things come to mind.

How does a bad player get good without someone better to fight?

How does a good player get better without a good player to fight?

Does a good player start to lose their edge fighting bad players?

Is it always just the player that makes the difference?

Is there something to say for the first 25 games, 40 hours - arbutrary number/time difference?

How does one honestly, thoughtfully, and without bias answer these questions from a programmatic perspective, I might add?

And, it dawned on me, while re-reading this, I kept using player, singular (shrug).

I use swords. Not a lot of accidental discharge accidents with swords. Plus... Up close and personal you know.

How does a good player benefit with LOTS of bad players on their team versus average to good players?

Answer: They don't. They just get pissed off when all their bad players die in the first two minutes of combat.

Well we have all that USING a Elo system. It wasn't any worse before we had it.

No. It really doesn't. I wouldn't mind having a 75% win percentage again but the matches are generally better now than they were before.

Mmmm, swords. I like swords too. But I can't carry them around with me into stores and such without getting all sorts of looks (and perhaps violating laws).

But there's just something really sexy about a properly hand-made, folded steel Katana... (and expensive, too)

Well, before it was more random than anything. Now it is calculated based on your win/loss ratio. If you win more, you get screwed more.

I know, it's counter-intuitive. The bads will say, "Good! You get a challenge!" But the good players can and do say, "Meh!" I'd prefer it to be a random dice roll so I can inflate my shallow video game alter-ego.
