There are already so many canon mechs available anyway. I'd rather just have the canon ones and then maybe later there can be some new mechs explained away as prototypes that then never saw extended widespread use.

We already have the centurion, hunchback, and a few others with large AC armament, so the need for another cannon mech is small.

Or did you mean "canon"? :P

you mean this? CPLT-K2 - Breaking the mold of the Catapult, the K2 model removes the LRM-15 launchers and replaces them with two PPCs which allow the Catapult to act as a direct fire support 'Mech and take a more active role in front line combat.

Canon or not, new Battlemech models would definitely be a very wise move. However, for now (launch and the first few months into the game) Canon only is the best way to go. By then, with anywhere between 20 and 30 Battlemechs we all have a Mech that we can call "favourite" and then they can start introducing new models. Something devised on a backwater planet which got ignored in the clan invasion and never was sufficiently important to become topic in any of the stories but happens to have a genius in its populous... It is even easy to properly introduce new designs into the canon. Happened all the time, by the way.

MWO hopefully will get Battletech back to mainstream life and how else to do it than by introducing some new kickass Mechs?

EDIT

Something like the "BMC-2L Louse" (insectoid (marauder-like) 15 ton mech with 2 small lasers (one on each forearm) and a streak SRM 2 in the right torso)? :P

Well i really love the dual PPC heavy mechs.
Namely the Marauder and Warhammer ... really hope they make it into the game as without those the game isnt fully battletech for me.

I might be biased though as i played the tabletop for ages in the 3025 time.

Um ... he already does. He does art for Catalyst too, so he's part of the creative team that does the TROs where new mechs tend to appear.

OK, even I'm sick to death of that situation that I don't want anything to do with it.

I would actually prefer to let Alex Inglasis have a free hand and come up with some new Mechs that fill similar roles, like a twin PPC heavy mech.

Theyll HAVE to to do the Unseens that Catalyist have effectively given up on. Itll be slapping a well known name onto an unknown chassis, and we as fans will have to accept it lol Im not saying its a bad thing, Im saying the NEED to accept it. NEED to. Cause if theres a fan uprising every time they change something thats gonna be a bad deal

Also comes the beauty of the "reboot" and the fact that we influence the timeline. This means new mech manufacturing companies could appear after all.

Twin PPC mech confirmed in game already, K2 Catapult.

I do hope that they let Alex make something original eventually. I think it would be awesome

There's no reason to make new Mechs. The timeline already has DOZENS for them to put in and for us to use. Put your artists to work on that and the environments. It also doesn't matter if a Mech is "old" or "new", because it's not like we've played them on a modern video game. They will ALL be new come release because it's been 10 years since there's been a MW game. I want to see it all come to live with modern graphics. We don't need new Mechs for that. Old Mechs with a new engine is going to feel just as new as it is.

I see a lot of people say that we don't need new mechs since we already have hundreds.
But making a new mech and putting it into the game has been done before with great success.

I believe the Uziel was introduced through MW 4: Vengeance before it was placed in the TT game.
Stone Rhino & Kodiak was introduced in MW 2: Ghost Bear Rising.
Avatar appeared first in MW 3.

Am i mistaken? I know that all four of these mechs are very popular. Especially the Uziel.

Rather than "NEW" mechs, I would prefer to see the developement of some of the less common mechs in the canon - Exterminator IS version), Lancelot, Flashman (I would love to see the new take on that mech!). There are other chasises that should be included including a remix of the "unseen" before any "new" mechs are introduced!

Why would they do that when 1. it violates canon, which they are trying to follow fairly closely,

and 2. there are

1303 Battlemechs (includes variants) that were made between the years 2750 and 3060

PGI were asked this again recently and the response was something in regards to "Why design more when there are still so many to choose from"

There are so many potentially great and interesting cannon mechs that are still waiting for their computer game debut, no need to go making up new ones when there are more than enough to fill every role/taste many of which only some of the TT gamers have ever had the chance to use.

1303. Take out the variants. Whats left number wise? The chassis is the same regardless of all the weapons changes. 254?

I say stick to the canon 'Mechs. There are plenty of them and realistically there are not too many Bandersnatch creators in the BT/MW universe.
