Returning Player, K2 Any Good?

Recently decided to return to the game as I am pretty much bored with everything else. The last time I had played I was working on my Catapult skill-set while using the K2 as my primary mech. I've seen some mention around the forums that their turn radius has been nerfed. I was wondering if this was the case and whether or not the K2 was still worth piloting. Especially so if another option was easily and readily available to me should I so choose. Would it behoove me to continue with my Cata skill-set or splurge on a better mech? I'm currently considering the purchase of a hero or champion mech. My current k2 build is a 2xPPC/2xLL build and seemed to work out well enough for me. Considering a different course. Any suggestions on the matter would be mucho appreciated.

you will have 4 energy hardpoints and 2 ballistic hardpoints, the arm energy are mounted high and thus well suited for poking over terrain while offering the enemy very little to shoot at, the torso mounted weapons are all low so you will have to expose most of your Mech to use those, if you are after a ballistic sniper the Jagermech, with its high arm mounted ballistics, could be a better choice.
But for what you said you are using it for the K2 is fine

maybe in some cases, but their are defiantly builds that the K2 works better than a jag. Dual AC-5's + dual PPC's is very fun and works well. Basically it is the longest range catapult. The LRM versions, really need to be under 500m to work their best.. Typically right behind the front line brawlers is the sweet spot.
OP; i love the jester, it is one of my fastest/most mobile heavy mechs i own, Stuff in dual AMS, a bunch of ammo, 320XL, 4 MPL's+ 2LL's and Bap and some extra heat sinks. talk about a fun mech!

Once we'd dissolved his team he didn't last long. But until then he was actually the Mech we were most concerned about, hiding at the back and sniping with good effect.
Is K2 part of the Catapult Mastery Pack? I'm thinking of getting that pack so I can get the Jester. K2 seems like it wouldn't be too shabby to level.
EDIT: apparently it is. Will pick that up once I start running out of sub-par Resistance Mechs to Master.

was it on the map with the big ring in the middle and k2 was on the mountain surrounded by those spikes? ended up getting 1k damage on the loss?

...Still the best looking mech in the game IMHO!

IMO it beats out the Jag only slightly. You can take the arms down to 1 armor to make room for more ammo than the Jag can fit. The whole mech is still relatively low profile, and all weapons are more-or-less mounted at cockpit height, so you can still pop and shoot.
Granted, if the Gauss gets critted, you're toast, no matter how you spin it. But on the other hand, a Jag with XL is asking for more trouble imo.

Of course there are some catapult fans that keep playing their dual gauss K2s regardless but the sad truth is that the jagermech and firebrand have largely replaced the K2. If you already have a K2, then keep using it because you can still do well in it. The K2 is not terrible but relative to the other choices, it's not recommended.
The K2 still has one advantage, it looks really really cool with dual UAC5s.

I've been trying to find a decent Jester build, I'll definitely be trying yours. I've never been a fan of Lasers. I feel like Michael J Fox when I'm trying to hit someone with any laser.I really like the idea of the mobility the Jester has. I love my K2 and the build flexibility it has which is why I was curious if it was still any good. At any rate, I purchased the Jester. Felt It was due time I bought a hero mech. Now I just need to grind some C-bill until I can afford a larger engine.
