Nevermind the leg squatness debate... why did they change the "intake" area at the sides of the cockpit from their earlier model? It got pushed too far forward, and looks way worse.

From some angles, the EJ looks really cool, from others it look not as good as it should, IMO

EDIT: I'm hoping it's just the unique geo

Bane's mask is, indeed, the unique geo for the EBJ. The other variants look almost exactly like the concept sketches.

Yes, that is the unique geometry, that's all, and remember, that is purely cosmetic, the hitboxes are the SAME as the non-(I) version, which isn't as wide on the front. Tina linked some shots of the actual models for both highlighting where the (I) geo pieces are.

I really dont understand this obsession with 'shorter mechs are better' from a gameplay perspective. They arent, its swings and roundabouts. Shorter mech can hide behind shorter cover, but taller mechs can shoot over other mechs in the furball, and you can always, i dunno, find some more appropriate height cover? Its not to do with being able to shoot them easily, how often do your shots miss high or low on non jumping targets? no where near as often as to the side is the answer.

this is wrong for the simple reason that the shorter your height, the higher percentage of 'viable' cover you find on any given map. How many times have you heard 'Oh man Im too short for that cover!'

also, you cannot reliably shoot over shorter heavy\assault mechs in any cursedly tall mech

as for aiming... idk what youre talking about... convergence is convergence, but I dont find being tall helps my aim.

When you're rapidly moving your crosshair to places at different ranges, the further your guns are from each other the worse the convergence is going to be.

Ever been in a jager and charging your dual guass, only for the target you were going to shoot at moves behind cover so you quickly snap a shoot off at another target? Often your shots will cross paths and won't hit the same component. The further apart the guns, the more that effect is exacerbated.

It also comes into play when a target is right up in your face.

It's so going to have a Medium movement archetype, on top of already being crazy powerful as it is.

"BUT GUISE, I WANT MY 65 TON HEAVY WITH ASSAULT MECH FIREPOWER TO BE SMALLER THAN MEDIUMS!"

I love how much smaller the 65 ton Cauldron Born is than the 60 ton Vulture... <_<

Good job... Can't say i'm surprised.

PGI really hate 60 ton mechs don't they?

While having way better hardpoint locations, a bit more pod space, a little more armor, almost certainly better hitboxes, potentially a "Medium" hill climbing profile...

The construction system itself doesn't even like them. 1 ton JJs even though 55 ton mediums get 0.5 ton JJs, meanwhile 80-85 tonners get 1 ton JJs just like every heavy does. They're like fat mediums much of the time.

Expect to see a drop in TBRs in CW. Its all going to be Stormcrows, Hellbringers, and Cauldron Borns.

EDIT: Oh and lets not forget the Arctic A*shole.

I think the EBJ will mostly obsolete the Loki. The Loki's only real advantage over it is having ECM.

Well, unless they negative quirk the EBJ, but they would have to try pretty hard to knock it down a peg...

The correct terminology is "Arctic Cheater." :P

In that case, though, I'm just thankful that the Clams now have a good light of their own to do fisticuffs with Firestarters and Huginns/2X's.

Fup, Juodas, you guys DO realize that the Cauldron Born IS actually supposed to be a very low profile Mech right? That's straight from the TRO, it's very low slung and hard to hit, which is what makes it seem to last forever, hence the name the IS gave it.

Keep in mind, the size of most Mechs in MWO is all screwed up, it's NICE to see them get it right, compared to others of the same size at any rate.

I thought that their "zombie" reputation was because their weapons were spread out over the entire chassis, thus you couldn't just slice off an arm or whatever to remove its firepower?

Frankly, it's just more fuel to the fire for a mech that was already poised to take on a dominant role in the game. It's another mech that lets you have your cake and eat it too.

And Quickdraw is supposed to be agile and climb hills well. Centurion is supposed to be slim. Catapult is supposed to be small. Nova isn't supposed to have a torso. Highlander is supposed to be able to lift off the bloody ground!
Why follow the lore now?
