So unlike all the Nerf this, Nerf that, troll posts, this is a proper statistical analysis of Clan XL engines and how they prove to be overpowered (ie OP).


IS mechs need XL engines to have same fire-power that Clan mechs have, yet IS mechs die horribly to side torso destruction unlike Clan mechs that keep on going and dishing out damage.

So on to the analytical part of the discussion that 100 percent proves that Clan XL engines are OP......



1) I asked 12 friends who play Clan mechs if Clan XL engines were OP.
2) 12 of 12 people who play Clan mechs agreed that Clan XL engines were OP.
3) 100% of people agree that Clan XL engines are OP!


No discussion required.. point proven !

Clan xl are a huge buff, asking 12 of your friends does not warrant the word analysis.

Clan XLs have great advantages but this is part of the trade off in IS vs Clan tech.

X = engine weight only, less the gyro and cockpit and such.

STD Engine: X weight, live with either or both STs gone.
XL Engine: 1/2 X weight, die with either ST gone.
cXL Engine: 1/2 X weight, live with either ST gone, die with both STs gone.

It seems self-evident to me that the cXL grants a huge inherent advantage, with the only downside being that, for cOmniMechs, you are stuck with the rating you have and cannot change it.

How the huge advantage of cXLs is even a question is beyond me.

Yeah, lets give the IS the Clan XL advantage too....they already went and quirked on 10t more armor to every IS mech and given IS mechs Clan range but kept IS beam times and heat efficiency, which is odd since its the Clans who have the 2 slot DHS....

guess what, clanners are supposed to be OP which is why they are supposed to be outnumbered 1.6/1 but PGI decided to not go that route and try to make everything somewhat equal, in doing so they have made some IS quirked mech more powerful than clan mechs. when IS start getting access to light fussion engines we will have to un-quirk everything since IS mechs would be double OP.

TBH, at this point, i hope is doesnt get new tech-- it'll just make everything a new tax
