Thx Pariah.

Keep in mind the reisistance 1 pack all came with quirks out of the box. No quirks mean these guys are going to be OP as all hell. The nerfhammer will land sometime around year end. Someone quote me for posterity on this.

Frankly, I don't think any new mech should come with quirks. Period. Can't tell how op or up something is until live, and it will continue to irritate me that IS mechs come out with quirks as standard features.

My favorite. All IS mechs have quirks, all of them. All of them have weapon quirks, and those quirks affect each weapon type.

As such, you have to look VERY hard to find an IS weapon that is ever fired at its listed stats (machine guns notwithstanding)... Yet people persist is comparing tech by comparing weapons one to one with listed stats.

Not just standard features. They are fundamental factors when evaluating a purchase..

as much as I agree with Pariah here, this is true. Quirks make or break mechs.

Not necessarily.

Quirks are a big part of the deal, but hardpoint numbers, hardpoint locations, hitboxes etc. all matter a huge amount. All the best quirks in the world applied to a mech without enough hardpoints to mount it effectively won't matter. Especially if it's on a knuckle dragger arm or has some massive convergence issue.

Some of my mechs that give me the best/most consistent results barely take advantage of their weapon quirks at all.

*shrug* since quirks became a thing, we've see which mechs come out? Resistance 1, urbie, and King Crab? A smattering of variants on existing chassis? Clan 2 was before quirks, right? I think so. Nothing felt out of line there with performance of the IS mechs, maybe the panther underperforms a bit out of all, but nothing was stupidly OP or UP. Urbie was for the lolz, so don't get too serious about it. Overall it felt... balanced?

My point is that PGI seems to do enough play testing and understands the current state of the game to figure out what mechs need. They learned from the folks crying about the Ice Ferret and Myst Lynx being DOA (ice fridge still is) on their wave 2 purchases. People don't want to spend money in advance for mechs that are DOA. This is bad business. Seeing that the ebon and exe are not coming with quirks, and all other signs pointing to them being top-tier mechs is a good sign.

They seem in touch with is mechs. With clan mechs they have consistently missed the mark. I'd rather paws off on those until they get enough people aware of the appropriate op/up issues in the clan line up instead of "fixing" things unrelated to the issues people have with them.....

I love the fact that the EJ cockpit doesn't have that bright blue colour.

King Crab was before quirks, too... I think the KGC was the last pre-quirk mech. At least, I know the (L) KGC was pre-quirks, I'm not sure about the regular release..

KCG was released with scads of quirks actually..... Despite being an IS ballistic boat. Not exactly a weak spot for IS tech. The example of quirks on release followed after that ones example.

My apologies, I stand corrected. Could have sworn the KGC-000(L) came without quirks. Oh well!

I think it's good Wave III is coming sans quirks... maybe it will STAY that way, not get nerfed, or buffed! Though, I'd like to see some bonus armor the Ebjag's arms... they are HUGE XD And the Koala really ought to have the armor buff on its shield arm.

Based on the model design, I'm hoping for side torso armor/structure bonuses for the Jaguar. I don't think it'll need much of anything offensively (perhaps even negative quirks eventually), but those shoulders (ear mounts especially) will take plenty of damage if you're creeping over hills a lot. Looks solid from the gameplay video though, fast and sleek with plenty of punch. Excellent visibility from that cockpit.

Executioner I almost don't want to play because it'll make me so very sad over the Victor. I just pretend I'm driving a Victor when I run around in my significantly more durable Zeus.

don't think many are going to see the video before they can actually play themselves......
sorry being bitter next time maybe do it all earlier so you can have video up around this time for more or everyone to see

If you assume anything in the video game industry is ready in advance, you're dreaming :P

Since I didn't see PGI's link to the video yet, here it is:
http://www.twitch.tv/ngngtv/v/6211681 It is about the 50 min mark where he goes with the cauldron born.
