Why PGI? Statues gone and everyone was happier, then you add these poxy lamp posts .. I kept getting caught on the things. If they aren't destructible, don't add them in!

He means you can get stuck on the lamp posts on river city now. They are worse than the statues. 100 ton assualt mech stopped by a toothpick lamp post.

Yup, what Beerandasmoke said, they are worse than the statues because they are all over the city.

lol and the comedy show continues..... im not sure but i think about 15 years ago or so there was a break through in technology where terrain and objects could be destructible... could just be me though

Not assaults only i was caught badly with 2-3 lights on river city and they was bouncing and stopping on those, highly annoying tbh.

At first i tought it was some HSR issues (2k ping player) but seems PGi added something extra with this patch.

Hmm... So they've enabled collision for lamp posts you say?

Is this a step towards the "destructible terrain" they've been talking about in conjunction with the remake of the maps?

Only they haven't added in the actual destruction, so most likely someone forgot to disable collisions for the lamp posts when the patch was baked from the dev environment.

If so, it should be a pretty straight-forward fix and a hot-patch to remove it again.

Of course there's a whole new River City in the bullpen... If this map is broke, it's getting replaced.

This is so bad, River City/Night needs to be removed from the map cycle now or it gets hotfixed asap..The map is almost unplayable.

I just got stuck on a lamp post and got instantly obliterated by 2 approaching mechs.

I've no idea what you guys are talking about. I haven't noticed this at all while playing, and it's certainly not an issue in the testing ground.

Known problem, check the homepage. It's getting fixed as soon as possible.

I imagine in might be some leftover artefact from that destructible terrain thing they're playing around with atm...

Mechwarrior 3 had destructible terrain.
When did it come out, 2015? 2005? Oh wait that's right, 1999.

River City Night has the issue and it's been pulled from rotation until they can fix it, probably return next patch.

I'd be fine with them leaving it out of rotation myself, especially since we should be getting the updated River City map soon, what say you all?

I literally just played it, so I don't think it's out of rotation. I would be happy if it got taken out completely. It's sole purpose for existing is so that PGI can showcase night vision. HDR blindness from lasers and missiles is also annoying.

I'd be happy with Alpine Peaks being removed from rotation besides maybe conquest queue but that's a different discussion.

More like, if they're not destructible or pose as a legitimate obstacle for a giant robot, don't give them a giant collision mesh to get stuck on.

MW3 also had significantly more simple terrains and was more or less developed ground up for the game, whereas MWO is developed using a not-so-great engine not designed for such scales which is highly frustrating to use.

Please stop using the whole 'it had it back then' argument, it's not that simple.

Has anyone at PGI ever said why they went for CryEngine as opposed to UnrealEngine?

It seems to me like there were at least a couple of options they could have gone with but they went with CE for some reason.
