Thanks for sharing! It does look that the front CT area is pretty wide relative to the frontal surface area.

My approval and regards for this.

I have the executioner double basic'd. I've honestly had an easier time reducing CT damage in a dragon than in this thing. However, with skills up, I am managing to lose side torsos and arms in more than a couple matches now. Something needs to be done to the CT, but bear in mind, torso twisting in this thing while its on basic level skills really just doesn't cut it.

Mine isn't elite yet but Im having some notable success with laser vomit. I don't have the D, but with max E points that I have I ended with 4erml, 3mpl, 1lpl. I can alpha one arm + the torso LPL at a time, and since I only have 1 laser worth of ghost heat, I can alpha everything for 65% heat to do 65 damage. Use masc to poke better. This isn't a DPS assault, it's a burst assault. Clan Banshee.

You have MASC.... strafe and torso twist more.... Definitely not the mech to park face to face with a Direwolf. However a total baller if you know had to burst accelerate and torso twist...

Hands down my new favorite clan assault.

I like the Exe a lot, I have good matches in it 450+ on average. (D torsos) but after watching the hitbox video, I have to say a small tweak would be nice.

I think the EXE has the potential to be a truly unique mech in the Clan lineup. Sure it has the firepower of a heavy mech, but its mobility for something with 95 tons of armor and its overall profile is great. This mech stands out. Its cool, and I really want to love it.

But the CT is just too much. This mech comes with significant restrictions for its mobility and profile (namely being very undergunned at 95 tons by any standard), having a ludicrously limited torso twist range, and 12 tons of locked gear. While I think MASC earns its weight, and the JJs are okay, this mech already comes out the box with many limitations. A huge honking CT that takes every hit straight up should not be one of them, and is effectively killing the Executioners viability as anything more than a fluff piece.

Not sure who is doing the play testing but they need to do a better job with hit boxes. Did they not notice the center torso hit box on the Executioner is to large? Should be smaller or get a few quirks. Its already gimped on how much of a loadout it can carry at least give it really good hit boxes. :)

so, uh, dude...like, maybe L2Tewist? Just saying, like, dude. Gosh. ;)

Right?

I was expecting to see a video where streams of LRMs all homed in on his CT or something, but instead I got a video of an Execute trying to stare down a frickin Dire Wolf in a dakka contest.

Come on, Dj.

EDIT: Not to mention that the DW came at you with a stripped arm, and you actually targetted stripped his ST while he went straight for your CT.

Do you really think torso twisting with a 75 degree turn range while being surrounded by 3 or 4 other mechs would have made any difference at that point. I knew I was boned when I saw that DW. I was trying to get a componant and as much damage to pad my XP before I died. Get off my ass.

The Executioner has the same issue as the Battlemaster in this regard; a torso twist range so small that it can't really twist effectively. Even then however, the Executioner takes too many shots to the CT. 120 armor doesn't last very long when every alpha lands right on it. The BLR at least has a decent hitbox layout that spreads the shots around when it twists, even if the CT can be hit from any angle. The EXE on the otherhand has a CT so big it can't be twists. The shots just hit it.

Have to say after testing the CT boxes are wonky as all heck.. and I love this mech. Some hits don't register anywhere, Some back shots register Front, some register rear, and others might as well be fired at yourself.

Watcherrat will be posting a second video soon. Will crosspost here....

I was inclined to hold my opinion on the mech till I had some play time with it, but after playing it all last night and dieing to nothing but CT cores with only one or two games where the side torso armor was ever peirced, and seeing that video this morning, I'm willing to agree with everyone, EXE needs a CT reduction in the front.

Mostly in the "belly" and in the groin. Those two areas seem to be disproportionately weighted towards the CT.

Well a big fracking engine like the Ex has the CT is going to make it have a fat belly. And with PGI having to make the "head" a peep hole cause folks can actually aim... CTs are gonna be huge.

Thanks for that video BTW. Very informative.

It's not just size its the mesh bleed over to locations it shouldn't be in. Wait till you see the 2nd video.

And now we need Bishop to paint the EXE to show the approximate location of the hitboxes. For science, of course!

Whoa, calm down. Let's not get emotional.

My point is, if you're going to provide evidence that there's something wrong with the Executioner's CT hitbox, then you may want to pick a different video than the one where you're having a staring contest with a Dire Wolf at 250 meters. Because it doesn't quite tell the story.

Too large? its entire torso (both sides AND center) is the same size as just the Daishis CT alone. The Daishi has it way worse because not only is its CT like three times larger but it cant torso twist at all either.

Its a 95 ton mech. Of course its going to get hit in the CT. Unlike the Daishi the Exec has a large engine and can torso twist much better. You need to torso twist more.

Exec is fine. Please fix mechs that actually need fixing like the Kit Fox.

kitfox sure has meaty STs

The cute fox needs a size reduction to Urbie size. Would fix a lot of that mechs problems.

The EX's CT isn't that bad, the thing just has a torso traverse that's terribad before eliting.

gotta make them dance.

Usually if I die to CT I figure I got outplayed... or I'm clearly not turning enough. If you're not loosing arm's first, you're doing it wrong.

Don't know about the Daishi, right now I would say the Executioner front is the old Awesome before hitbox pass, the rear is after.

Torso twist is still not that great, only Daishis, a few Stalkers and a few Battlemasters have it worse. Mechs with limited torso twist like this should pull off that old Klingon flank attack pass (forget the name of it), do not head straight towards the enemy, move to one side or the other at an angle so to make the most of the torso twist range, turn one way to shoot, the other to tank.

Joking aside, the limited twist of this and some other Mechs requires flanking movement as described. Bet Bishop is glad he didn't buy in....

Unless he caved at the last moment so he could do things like the Flaming Fist build. :D

I mean he always drew those "hitbox guesstimations" before a pack release so maybe he could do one for EXE now that we more or less know where the hitboxes are.
