Regrettably, I have found it to shine with all energy builds. I say regrettably because so do all of my other mechs that don't snipe with gauss rifles. Luckily the movement profile gives it a unique style.
I'd pay another $30 for the D torsos right now (PGI will make these gift store Im sure) to get some high mounted energy, but it's been interesting making the EXE work without them.
The strange as hell build Ive been having huge success with… 3mpl, 4erml, lpl.

This build relies on its ability to pump out 2 of these laser vomits back to back. Each arm is a weapon group and the LPL floats alone, often being paired with whatever arm I'm firing.
The lack of D torsos forces me to expose myself anytime I want to hurt someone. (that sounds so wrong) However this has highlighted the EXE playstyle, as even with the D torsos it just isn't a peek-n-poke mech. So why do I love it?
MASC.
As I'm slowly learning how to time MASC, what I'm thinking is the EXE is my new favorite mech, and the only way I'd put it down is if I could put MASC on my Banshee, which is the IS equivalent in many ways. As many others are finding, MASC is an invaluable tool to get your fat metal body into positions nobody would expect. Sure, it may feel clunky, but NOT for a 95 tonner.
Don't poke, and hide your massive body for the opening shots of the engagement.
This is where piloting a EXE gets hard. You must use your solid armor and high alpha to engage in favorable face to face trades. This means MASC mobility is key, and your position is in the middle of the team. You are not a sniper in the back, but with such a massive CT you are not the linebreaker either. In some respects this is where the Banshee really outdoes the EXE, with its tanky gorilla arms. However I am finding that MASC based acceleration gives the EXE ridiculous agility for its size, and the skill ceiling for the EXE seems VERY high.
Everyone share your thoughts! Also… D torso… when!?!?! (PS) anyone else unable to use the enter\tab key on this forum?!?!? Only an issue on my work PC

I had this one moment yesterday when I faced the entire enemy team early on factory, I used MASC to quick reverse turn around and JJ 20M up behind a building in one fluid motion, I started laughing manically as I made a succesful escape with very little damage taken, a move that NO other assault mech could have accomplshed. It was then that I realized how crazy awesome MASC is.

Then I JJ on top of the side towers on factory and cored out a fellow Exec that was already up there from behind, and killed another 3 mechs after that, all things I couldnt have done had i died in that opening onslaught.

I agree completely. I've pulled off some ridiculous stunts that my banshee dreams it could do. Exe def needs time and patience, but its worth it.

I think the Executioner is going to be a better mech than people are giving it credit for. They forget it's a 95 tonner with clan weapon options, best running tough Wubmaster and Wubshee style builds. I mean, it has 13 possible energy hardpoints for crying out loud!

Once PGI fixes the hitboxes today with the hotfix, it should hopefully no longer have the "everything hits the CT" problem. Then people just need to remember that it's not a Timbie, Stormcrow, Loki, Jag or Dire. It's much closer to the aforementioned IS mechs in utility.

The thing is, the limited podspace should be no surprise. I don't know why so many people tear their jaws off just because the executioner is not as effective as they might have hoped. It a damn good assault and the amount of weapons it can bear is pretty deadly. It pays podspace for mobility and if that ain't your playstyle then you bought the wrong mech.

Keep in mind, everyone knew what he was getting. The information about the fixed equipment is long known.

8 tons and 4 crit slots for a system which gives virtually no mobility... your analysis is flawed.

I would suggest that your view is flawed, the jump capability is absolutely sufficient, and MASC is rediculous.

I've seen how high the EXE jumps and I've mastered 3 Highlanders.

That jump capability is not sufficient.

Well, then how much do you want EXE to be able to jump? If you are talking about height or distance then please give an example.

Im jumping higher than a TBR wth 2-3 JJs, and getting off dual CERPPC shots over high hills so ya its sufficient. Not to mention I haven't failed to cross a canyon or expanse yet, so just more proof.

I think it just needs to be a little peppier on the lift off.

^^ sure speed of the jump itself could be increased but it has the speed to go the distance needed, and the height to get to some nasty positions. Thats all I'm on about anyhow.

For some reason I haven't found a desirable build to wreck face in, someone point me in the right direction please?

That's been my line all along, pre-release.

Good to see some folks coming around to it. :)
