Is It Normal When People Reveal You?

We had a match where the outcome was not in our favor. As the last 'Mech, I found a sweet spot where my LRMs could reach people below me, and people above me could not see me well. I powered down, and then 1 person in my team revealed my position. The other one called me "duh", "coward", and the other one kept shouting out my position. Eventually, the enemy came from the side, where I was more vulnerable, thanks to the coordinates.
Is that a normal behavior? Was I doing something wrong? Is Power Down button there for a reason?!

If you are powered down hiding on skirmish to protect you KDR is against the ToS. if that's what you are doing support staff won't be on your side if you report them for birddogging

I wouldn't power down if ur the last one alive. U have to consider peoples time. They want to play not watch, they want to earn chills not observe. Do ur best to win, but not stretch out the mat h unnecessarily

If you don't want to watch, there's a perfectly functional "quit match" button you can use.

Is there a "Use mech that is in match that is almost over" button as well?

only viable if you are dead.
The reason they say powering down and hiding is against the spirit of the game is so the other 12 players on the other team don't have to go on an easter egg hunt for 5mins to find the shut down griefer.

It is not normal. What they did is commit what the devs refer to as "Team Treason".

You should report them, and they should be banned for it.

I guess that would be an issue if you had just the one 'mech and there were no trial 'mechs available.

Since that's seldom the case, the problem is still with you, not the guy trying to play the game in a way you don't approve of.

He was most likely powering up getting lock launching, then powering down before figured where it came from.

I was waiting until they come from below to rain LRM upon the first one. Take them one by one. Apparently, the other two members just wanted me to be dead and have no chance.
I see that some people are against prolonging the match here. I do not care about my KDR at all. I wanted to take as many of them down as I could and maybe win the match, if it is possible.

People are more inclined to not reveal your position if you share your plan in the chat, something like "don't sell me, i am not hiding".
If you don't people gonna assume that you are just preserving your k/d by letting the time run out, or that you are afk.

edit: also, no offence but typing "i' m going to hide with honor" in chat is just asking for it.

So many policies! "Name and shame" is another one. It means we aren't supposed to call out players by name on the forums for their behavior, so the best thing to do when posting screenshots is to black or blur out the names in question.

To summarize, then:
* Non-participation is against the ToS.
* Team Treason (calling out a team member's position) is also against the ToS.
* Powering down is not against the ToS.
* Communicating to your team mates what you're doing is not against the ToS.

Seems to me this whole thing could have been avoided by the OP telling his team what he was planning to do.

so buy multiple mechs of the same variant with the same load outs and modules and everything is what you are suggesting

Also, lets assume we are all telepathic and know that he powered down "to protect his k/d ratio"

The proper response to that is to report him after the match has *ended*, not commit Team Treason.

What these people are really doing is betraying his position before the match has ended, and then hiding behind the rules against non-participation. They simply want the match over quicker so they can drop quicker, else they would handle this the proper way by reporting him after the match ends rather than giving out his position. They deserve a "holiday" from the game.

Regardless of what the ToS say, shutting down with no intention of trying to win the match is just a **** move.

If you do a temporary power down to wait for enemies to pass, and then you power back up and resume hunting them, that's fine. But just hiding in a corner without any intent to win is trollish.

I have done exactly that for several of my favorites.
