Rules are if you have engaged the enemy you can use any tactic after which means powering down. Idiots like to think they can read minds or know your strategy. Better they think you have some obligation to inform the dead of your intent..

Just screen shot and report it. Just had a mech on the other team who killed me earlier be last man. He was maneuvering for a ranged attack it seems while his teammates gave away position, direction of travel, loadout and amount of damage. It was a clown who I see a lot and posts here on the forums. I was angry witnessing that and players on my team told him to shut up.

3 against 1 so the dude had every possibility of turning the match. Just disgusting behavior. Bannable too.

He has no responsibility to inform the team. The isn't any you were all dead. Use some common sense.

"Refusing to engage" is bannable, too, supposedly, but if we're going to play that game, we'd all be banned for something eventually.

The reality is that the OP picked a fight with his team by shuffling the lances around like some sort of nutty game for the entire countdown to match start. He basically made himself a target at that point by ticking everyone else off and making it clear he thought he was special. Picking a fight and then whining about it on the forums with false innocence goes along nicely with that mindset.

I'd be wiling to be that if he hadn't started the match behaving like a troublemaker and child, his team wouldn't have mentioned where he was cowering. If you don't want to be thrown under the bus, don't go out of your way to tick off your team-mates - that's common sense.

Lol... I was in that match, and while I didn't actually call out his coordinates, let's review a few facts that were conveniently omitted by our brave OP:

1) Lunatic spent the entire pre-match order shuffling people around between lances like somebody playing 3-card Monty. There was no reason given for this, and if you start a match by pissing everyone off, don't expect them to be kind to you later on.

2) Lunatic ends up the last man left and immediately hides and powers down, making a big show about how he was "going to fight them" over and over again. Except when I could HEAR THE ENEMY FOOTSTEPS approaching while spectating, he just sat there, doing nothing. And the enemies then killed him without him even powering up or getting another shot off.

Next time, tell the whole story - particularly the part when you ticked off your whole team by playing "shuffle the lances around because I'm a funny guy!" - and thus earned whatever abuse they gave you later for hiding.

Plot thickens

I just witnessed an example of team treason I described above. If he was being a jerk report him, No right to team treason.

It's the rules. Not the rule you decide to bend for your favor.

Yep - I was skimming the forums, and a name like "Lunatic Asylum" is easily remembered, even by somebody like me who normally can't recall names worth a darn. As soon as I saw his thread, one click showed the screenshot of the last thing I saw while spectating on him.

If somebody is going to pick a fight with me or my team-mates in public for being "treated unfairly," he'd better tell the whole story - including the part where he disrupted the team, split up a mid-sized premade, and basically trashed everything by spending an entire minute playing with the lances like some sort of bored child.

As I said, if you're going to do something idiotic like that - which is known to tick people off - don't expect any mercy when you then proceed to pull ANOTHER brat tactic and hide like a coward. Of course, this is then followed up by the "woe is me!!!" post on the forums, where he conveniently leaves out all the trouble he caused that led to his cowering spot being revealed.

The OP is no different than those clowns in World of Tanks who intentionally try to get friendlies to hit them so the guy who's shots are blocked ends up being labeled as a "team killer" - he's picking fights and trolling teams and the forum.

"If you don't like waiting leave".

But what if you can't?

This behavior made sense when there were repair costs to consider, and nobody frowned on it then. Sometimes you might see multiple shutdowns during a lost cause and people didn't mind because it had a point.

But now? You don't profit from the behavior, you are just wasting everyone's time. And I am not a fan of entitling people that think their right to being a ******** is more important than my right to not have my and others time wasted.

But PGI can address this several ways. One would be to bring back repair costs (and salvage). Another would be to have the match end if there are no active mechs on one side for more than 15 seconds (the real cornholes will abuse this). Another would be to penalize the behavior.

The best part of this whole post is the attack strategy...

Shutdown
Wait for enemy
LRM...(mech that are undoubtedly moving)
Shutdown again (which will break lock and make missiles miss if the mech are moving...)

Not to mention LRMS are weak sauce anyway....

If it he had an ERPPC, I would have let him play... But then again when you powered down you sealed your fate by not typing a single thing to your team... Your team was right to rat you out.

I was waiting until they come from below to rain LRM upon the first one. Take them one by one. Apparently, the other two members just wanted me to be dead and have no chance.
I see that some people are against prolonging the match here. I do not care about my KDR at all. I wanted to take as many of them down as I could and maybe win the match, if it is possible.

Did you explain that to your team????

I would do so in the future because there are a lot of 'KDR' cowards out there.

Just tell them you are setting a trap and if you get a kill they get an assist.

BUT, btw, how were you gonna lure enemies over there? You may wanna LRM closer to the team. Shorter flight time = moar DPS.

We had a match where the outcome was not in our favor. As the last 'Mech, I found a sweet spot where my LRMs could reach people below me, and people above me could not see me well. I powered down, and then 1 person in my team revealed my position. The other one called me "duh", "coward", and the other one kept shouting out my position. Eventually, the enemy came from the side, where I was more vulnerable, thanks to the coordinates.
Is that a normal behavior? Was I doing something wrong? Is Power Down button there for a reason?!

it violates the rules regardless of the reason why you did it

if you were disclosed you should send a e-mail to the support (if i were in your match and saw your position disclosed i would report it myself regardless of your team and the situation, i hope more people would do the same)

if somebody asks you to die with honor you can tell them to go and use themselves in an improper way

pgi should forbid /all chat for dead!!!!111oneone

Yeah, I love how they don't have the foresight to realize why something like that should be done lol.

Once the game is over, all chat should be re-enabled so that people can "GG" or whatever afterwards.

180 min range for LRM's, someone walking past and away with you (150 meters awya when up power up) and then alpha'ing him in the weak back would be very nasty....

I can't tell you how much times I manage to get the mini award "Brawler" with an LRM boat.

It's funny how a slight change and tested with support staff disproves your post. :P

If your cowering in a corner, powered down, and drawing the game out, then yes...

In a case like this you have 2 choices fight, or die...

Don't waste other people's time.

Is there a "Use mech that is in match that is almost over" button as well?

is that the only mech you own?

so buy multiple mechs of the same variant with the same load outs and modules and everything is what you are suggesting

or simply drive a different mech the next match. Get over it.

Non Participation and Team Treason are both violations. There is a method in place for dealing with these.

The trick is to buy a second, or even third, if your Mech is really that precious:
