however as a Light pilot I would say that all Light Mechs are too small, I considered putting an entire list of Light Mech for my top 5

3) the Commando, maybe half (probably less) the height, width and depth of an Atlas, assuming there is some relation between displacement and mass it should not weigh much more that 10 tonnes at that size, needs scaling up by about 100%
4) the Locust, again too small
5) the Jenner, again too small

Mist Lynx, Spider, Raven and Firestarter are also all too small, I am not sure about the other Clan Lights

the IS Lights seem to be fairly well scaled in relation to each other but not in relation to everything else

I would be most curious to see how tall a skinny assault would end up being compared to the stocky Atlas.

The problem here is pretty much that everything above the light class is too big, not that the lights are too small. MWO decided to make mechs significantly taller than they are according to Battletech where mechs range from about 8 meters in height to around 14 meters while MWO's Atlas is, if I remember earlier threads correctly, around 18 meters tall.

Of course, greater height doesn't necessarily mean higher weight as there are several examples of heavier mechs being in-canon shorter than lighter ones. The Locust, for example, at 20 tons is apparently taller than the Commando at 25 tons according to Battletech. Of course, if you look at the original Locust and Commando artwork from Way Back When that makes sense since the Locust's weight was all in its torso, the legs basically being a pair of long, thin plastic drinking straws, while the commando's weight was distributed more like it would be on a person. Another example is the Banshee being taller, but thinner than an Atlas according to the canon. This, of course, will not always translate 100% to the redesigned MWO mechs. The MWO, Locust does not, for example, have legs quite as thin as the original Battletech Locust, and therefore more of its weight would be in the legs, making it shorter as a consequence.

Anyways, lights could stand to be brought closer to the other classes, as you say, either by making mediums and above smaller or increasing the size of the lights.

I always wanted a Light that was as easy to XL-pop as a JagerMech...

1. Vindicator

3. Vindicator
4. Vindicator
5. Vindicator

Seriously, it's as big as a heavy or assault 'mech and is as slow as molasses. If its scaled down, it might be more useful.

===========IS===========

2. Quickdraw
3. Dragon
4. Awesome
5. Orion
6. Thunderbolt
7. Battlemaster
8. Kintaro
9. Griffin
10. Threbuchet
11. Wolverine
12. Victor

=========Clans==========

Edit:

Since everyone's posting their top 5 favorite mechs that they would like to be rescaled ignoring the fact that the actual top 5 would obviously consist of Catapult, Quickdraw, Dragon, Awesome and Nova (the order doesn't matter here), these are the mechs that need help if you leave your personal preferences aside, oh well, guess I'll do the same:

1. Quickdraw
2. Orion
3. Battlemaster
4. Victor
5. Summoner

1 -- Catapult
2 -- Shadowhawk
3 -- Trebuchet
4 -- Thunderbolt
5 -- Stalker

The HBK should be the gold standard for scaling, IMO this chassis is perfect within the Medium range.

I think width is my concern with the t-bolt. More so than the Awesome (though the AWS was a CLOSE second to that).

The awesome is supposed to be huge. Look at all the old models, it's a fridge. Durability quirks might need to be adjusted a bit.

IMO the best-scaled mech in the game is the hunchback.

My list

1. Centurion
2. Trebuchet
3. Catapult
4. Quickdraw
5. Nova

These mechs are too big/tall or chunky:

1- Nova
2- Quickdraw
3- Mad Dog
4- Grasshopper
5- Catapult

(Honorable mentions: Awesome, Centurion, Cicada, Trebuchet, Kit Fox, Vindicator, Shadow Hawk)

Not in "my list", but I think these mechs are too small or short:

1- Zeus
2- Stalker
3- King Crab
4- Spider
5- Ebon Jaguar
