I've started working on creating a 3d printed, posable model of a Hunchback 4G. It's going to be somewhere around 24cm high.
Most work so far has been, taking the game model, and patching it up and bringing in back detail that's in the normal maps and making sure it's posable. I'm deviating quite some in critical areas as joints, knees and such to make it work.

When done, I'll probably release the printable parts to the community.

I'm dreading to center torso, that's gonna be a beast to print

NICE!!!!!

Do want! (well, the 4G(F) to be specific. It's my bread and butter ride in MWO and hands down one of my favorite designs from Alex!.

Printed the upper leg and knee, though not very thrilled with the construction. Going to rework them both and reprint(free PLA at work ftw!)

Cheers, mate! After a little finetuning our Ultimaker2 and fiddling with all the settings, you can get some amazing results to start with. The rest is just sanding down the plastic as much as possible, going in with primer(Tamiya grey, that stuff is superb to sand down even more) sanding, primer, sanding and a top primer coating... And liquid putty from Valejo, really need that to fill gaps and seems

I just finished a connecting piece for the torso and hip/pelvis, so now, with a little tape to tighten the joints, I can finally do this:

How much sanding do you have to do and what do you use? Toothpaste or fine metal polish would be advised for paint prep.

I use regular sanding paper, 180 and 240 grit mostly. Also, small files do work wonders for removing print artefacts. I use Valejo plastic putty to fill gaps.

Ow yes, most are straight axial joints, with a bit of filing and sanding, everything fits snugly together. I worried a bit more about the shoulders, so I managed to fit a sort of ratchet design in there, so that the weight of the lower arms, wouldn't pull the entire arm down in a sort of sagging pose.Posted Image
