I never understood giving up. We had a match the other night where one of our FS9 pilots killed 2 mechs in the end before succumbing. Stick with it and you never know what you might get out of it.

Overide shut down to suicide.

As a glutton for punishment I decided to take out my AS7-K and work on some builds. Dropped in Tourmaline and had a decent group of PUGs. So I thought. Team showed good signs of movement, worked together, focused targets and we were up by a kill. As the score hit 6 to 5 a Timberwolf on our team decided to follow the 2 friendly Ravens and chase some random dorito 600 meters away.

Long story short the group they left behind put up the best fight they could. We ripped the armor off of the remaining enemy mechs and even killed one or two.

So now it's the Timberwolf with 2 ERLL and 4 ERML at 84% armor and 2 Ravens to finish the fight against 5 heavily damaged mechs. I've seen it done. However, that isn't what happened. The Timberwolf turns to face the rocks, hits the overide key and alpha strikes until he dies from over heating. The poor ravens gave it their all but we ended up losing the match.

You know who you are... Knock it off.

Report it PGI will log it, does it to often, get hit by moderation the same as the over heat and out of bounds jerks..

It would be nice to have a 10-15 second auto-off on the Override button.

override used to work on a time out. it was so useless i never bothered using it. especially because by the time the warning became audible (big flashing text is not enough when you are focused on a target) the mech had already shut down, and this is still a problem. when they changed it to what we have now, it became useful, but also quite dangerous. they just need to define better rules for override controls like my previous post describes. some situations the override should time out, in others it shouldnt.

Certain warnings really need to be prioritized so they preclude other ones, for reasons like this.

Most especially, any danger warning should override the laundry list level items. It is vastly more important to know that you're about to overheat, that missiles are locked onto you, or that a component is hitting a critical level of damage than it is to know that the medium laser you kept in your arm was lost when the arm fell off, that you just locked a new target, or that your ammo is at 25%.

warning tones at the beginning of messages could also further increase human reaction times. every message has its own warning tone, and its played immediately followed by betty's input. that way your brain doesnt have to parse and interpret language, its just reacting to a distinct tone. muscle memory takes over and you hit the right buttons quickly every time. sorta like how my cat can be let out without me being totally aware that im doing it, tricky little fuzzball.
