That's odd, when I suggest ideas by typing people are often on board with it, very often. I'm surprised it works so much. I don't know you, but are you certain its not your approach or your tone of voice? People don't like random strangers acting authoritative.

I'll hazard a guess and I can try to read from the way you formulate things you could be one of those people. I don't try "to lead", "PUGs won't listen" suggests to me you have a very firm aprroach.

You mention your drop commander. The same approach to comms as in organized play simply won't work in PUG for the aforementioned reason. You don't get to be the defacto leader, you giving orders is not a given. We don't care what you do in organized play, we don't care how good you are or if you're a drop leader and what you do with your buddies. Yet A LOT of people just run in thinking they can run the show with an attitude to match.

If this happens I NEVER follow orders, you're not my leader buddy, you're some random kid in front of a computer. If however someone has a normal tone of voice I'm ALWAYS on board no matter how dumb I think it is, it just might work if enough people do it.

Again I don't know you, I don't know how you approach this, but my hunch is it might be this.

I suggest a very modest approach, not giving orders, but suggestions in a calm and neutral tone of voice, if you can muster that try it a few times, see how it works.

This drives me nuts. On the one hand you're right. Practically speaking you have to deal with people well.

But on the other hand, there's not always time to tip toe around people's feelings. Everyone in the game has en ego, leader and follower, and having the right idea counts for a lot. The guys too proud to follow authoritative sounding commands are allowed to die foolishly to prove their independence. Conversely the idiot leader is allowed to be the only person following his own orders.

Well put. Obviously that doesn't mean I'll run around like a moron for the rest of the round, I'll still see what the group does and act accordingly I just won't be your little soldier is all.

Those who don't use it, I wonder how your team's experience would be different if you did use it if you were able to. I know some of those who posted in this thread are very good players, but don't appear to want to give others the benefit of their experience. The team's loss.

wan't an example for such an experience? you start a game and the first thing you see is one or even several lance members doing stupid lightshows - and no I don't refer to the guys turning around and shooting at a wall - I talk about the idiots missing you only by a fraction of a meter. So you ask them politly (via chat) to stop the lightshows and give them a good reason ("to prevent teammate from getting hit", should be good enough in a teamgame) - guess what happens next? Often enough some ape thinks its funny to do even more lightshows in your direction.

And yes, that happend to me more than once - so why should I consider such people teammates? Why should I listen to them? Seriously - I really wish this gamewas age restriced and had a montly subscription fee to get rid of those idiots - then I would consider using VoIP. Doing that in a F2P Pug - not even worth thinking about it.

Use it rarely, often just to spot UAV's. Always listening though, think its borderline OP, all it takes is one person to step up to plate and your probably going to demolish the other team. I'll follow any team strategy someone cares to lay down, as I always say, a bad plan is better than no plan :D what’s the worst that could happen, I'll be in a new match in 10 minutes anyway.
