That would be wonderful.

The only way we will ever see the unseen is if a bunch of people spend alot of their off time building a case to say that HG doesnt have the right to prevent others from using them at least in the US.

There are some possible ways to argue it but frankly there is nothing that would not = a MASSIVE legal fight.

with Catalyst designing new "reseens" and Harebrained coming up with a new BT game which will feature MWO Style (according to Russ) I think it is pretty likely we will get those Marauders and stuff in MWO. Damn I need money...

those would fit in MWO so nicely:

The odds have, in fact, decreased.

Harmony Gold has a larger warchest, and they will believe the worth of the "Robotech" IP is higher.

I hereby urge everyone to boycott the Robotech movie, rather than let HG profit off if it. (Also since HG is involved in production, it will most likely be freaking terrible)

more like torrent it if you have to watch it you mean :D

I once made the mistake of watching Shadow Chronicles. There are some things so bad you shouldn't even torrent them.

But what if HG allows Sony to put the Unseen Tech into the Movie, just to piss off ALL MechWarriors everywhere, for their past arrogance and petulance for coveting what is not even theirs?

LOL! Imagine the Web on Fire... ;)

Not true.

Harmony Gold has IP for Robotech and the images of the mecha in Robotech in the United States (and presumably Canada, not sure about that).

Harmony Gold has no claim on the Valkyre, Stinger, Phoenix Hawk, OST (series of mechs, all based off Zentradi battle pods), Archer, Warhammer, and Marauder.

Everything about the unseen, except the images of them in the 3025 TRO, and other materials from that era, Harmony Gold has no right to.

So, Battletech, Mechwarrior and owners and leasers of that IP can use all those mechs, but can't make them look like they do in Robotech/Macross.

They can redesign them visually any time and use them.

Now, its possible that HG will litigate anyway, so the question that sits before the owners and leasers of Battletech and Mechwarrior is this: How much money to they have to defend litigation form HG, and do they think their designs are sufficiently different from the Robotech designs to prevail in court?

That's the sticking point. It comes down to the art department and the legal eagles of the BT/MW owners and leasers (PGI leases MechWarrior from Microsoft)

well thats part of the problem, even if someone had IRON CLAD proof that HG has zero rights to anything HG would STILL send an army of lawyers and bury anyone in legal costs until they won.
Since sadly that is how the legal system works anymore the winner is usually the one with the most money. I can honestly think of alot of ways someone could argue HG has no rights to prevent anyone from using mechs that look like the unseen.
But it doesnt matter. Until either HG goes out of business they will fight as much as they can.
