The only way we will ever see the unseen is if a bunch of people spend alot of their off time building a case to say that HG doesn't have the right to prevent others from using them at least in the US.
There are some possible ways to argue it but frankly there is nothing that would not = a MASSIVE legal fight.
Not true.
Harmony Gold has IP for Robotech and the images of the mecha in Robotech in the United States (and presumably Canada, not sure about that).
Harmony Gold has no claim on the Valkyre, Stinger, Phoenix Hawk, OST (series of mechs, all based off Zentradi battle pods), Archer, Warhammer, and Marauder.
Everything about the unseen, except the images of them in the 3025 TRO, and other materials from that era, Harmony Gold has no right to.
So, Battletech, Mechwarrior and owners and leasers of that IP can use all those mechs, but can't make them look like they do in Robotech/Macross.
They can redesign them visually any time and use them.
Now, its possible that HG will litigate anyway, so the question that sits before the owners and leasers of Battletech and Mechwarrior is this: How much money to they have to defend litigation form HG, and do they think their designs are sufficiently different from the Robotech designs to prevail in court?
That's the sticking point. It comes down to the art department and the legal eagles of the BT/MW owners and leasers (PGI leases MechWarrior from Microsoft)
