I switched to the Logitech Proteus Core a while ago, and I completely love this mouse.

I used the Razer Adder before it and it just had too many small buttons for me.

I find the proteus core extremely comfortable, there are just enough buttons - and more importantly they are very well placed.

As you can see in the image, instead of a confusing blob of tiny buttons you have a few well placed, good sized buttons all of which have a great tactile feel and most are easy to find/click in the heat of combat.

One of the biggest selling points for me is the button placed right next to Mouse Button 1 (Left button) - it is long, and slender and runs parallel to LMB 1.

The huge benefit of that, is that it is extremely easy and natural to fire two weapon groups at the same time, with just my index finger using those two buttons.

The software is easy to use, and very easy to remap buttons/save profiles, etc.

I currently run MWO at sensitivity 0.1, with my DPI set to 5000 for movement/torso twisting and press+hold DPI shift drops me down to 1200 - but you can customize that down to 400 or as high as 12,000.

Pros:

> Braided cord
> Ability to adjust weight
> Excellent button placement
> Fully remappable
> Infinite Scrolling Mouse Wheel (toggle on/off) - this isn't so useful for gaming but great for other uses

> Not wireless?

Last I checked it's only $60 (new) on Amazon and $40 refurbished.

M570 from Logitech.

I highly recommend this for anyone with RSI, stiff muscles etc. I use it. Sure your speed is perhaps not the best but it works for MWO well. Torso twisting is much harder but i like this mouse. You use your thumb to aim while the mouse do not move.

Build quality is crap. Drop it once and you can buy another one. It costs around $50 and or i less believe.

I don't have any of those things but I also use this mouse. Ridiculously easy and fast to clean and I don't ever have to worry about it bumping into stuff in the middle of a pitched battle. Trackballs ftw.

This is the mouse that inspired me to start this thread actually. I use a G700 which is an amazing mouse but some buttons are awkward and I can't realistically use them all. What I do like about the Proteus is that it still has the side scroll buttons which can be reprogrammed to other purposes (my g700 has it bound to DPI changes). It looks a bit more ergonomic and the price is super reasonable

I have a Steelseries Kana v2. I wanted 5 or so buttons, but more or less a traditional Logitech Pilot shape, and this delivered that.

Some of those new-fangled gaming mouses look like battlemechs themselves, instead of computer peripherals.

Microsoft Intellimouse 1.1. I've bought and returned probably a dozen+ other "gaming" mice and I keep coming back to this one. It's cheap, has excellent comfort and grip and tracking, and five buttons are all super easy to click.

The only sucky part is that the scroll wheel detents wear down over time, but fortunately scrolling isn't useful in MWO.

How is the Tyon? It looks like a pretty solid mouse though the buttons look awkwardly placed. Is it easy to use them, or do you fond yourself not using most of them?

CMStorm Xornet, one of the best mice I've ever owned. It's dirt cheap, highly ergonomic, good on-the-fly sensitivity-switcher. It has its flaws but in terms of value this mouse is absolutely unbeatable.

Steelseries Sensei (Raw)

I used cheap 3 button mice for a long time, but they didn't hold up to gaming use. So I invested in a decent 8 button gaming mouse. I still find myself using only 3 buttons max for weapons.

I have been using a Logitech M510 for a few years now, when I got it it was about 100.00 US, now you can probably get one for 35 or 40.  http://www.mindfacto..._0__8313468.jpgamazon has it for 24.95 new!

First and foremost if you're looking for a comfortable mouse you should analyze how you hold one, as people hold mice differently.

When you're moving your mouse, where do you feel you're pushing / pulling the mouse the most? Fingertips? All along the length of your fingers? Mostly palm?

Consider the width of the mouse and how comfortable it is to hold and grip, especially while moving.

IMO what matters most are the shape of the mouse, weight, and how you hold it. All the technical stats of the different gaming mice are generally quite the same across manufacturers.

Personally, I tend to make wide, sweeping motions by pushing the mouse with my palm, then switching my grip to a "claw" to push and pull with my fingertips for precision. I also rest my hand fully on my mice while using it normally. Therefore, I knew I needed a mouse long enough to fit both my fingers and palm, and also wide enough to be easy to grip while "clawing".

For reference, I chose an Oker G16 since it was what was available at the time when I needed to replace my old mouse.
