The way I see it, I'm helping support an awesome game every time I buy a mech pack.

I bought that silly $40 urbie pack. That's a lot of money to spend on a light that by most opinions SUCKS outside of TT games, but I bought it anyways. It certainly was NOT for the purpose of 'lording' over people, but because when I saw it I was like "Holy $#@! I love this new content they've been releasing this year so f it, I'm buying this $#@! mech!"

anmyone who is shouting me down to speaking up to have a product sold on merit and value than some paywall is obviosuly still caught up in needing to have a leg up.

It's a word being used to attack and/or insult a person and/or multiple persons. The fact that you are using the word correctly is irrelevant, as I'm quite certain the forums have rules against such conduct.

your point about comparing mechs and the value of them has not context with mechs being behind a paywall or not.

In it's current context there are many mechs behind a paywall. Look at the 1st Event PGI ran it was completel;y behind a paywall. If u didn't have an illaiyd or whatever it's name is called or a hero victor u have no use for the team.

The Dragonslayer was hands down a paywall mech and still is just with quirks and such people have forgetten to remember how it was with it's dead shield side.

An the point i'm saying is mechs are OP. If you think the Artic Cheetahs isn't gonna pawn then you are mis guided.

The Topic is, Should PGI be selling mech packs on merit and value rather than some early access programme that is really just a thinly disguised paywall.

What agruement was that, some deluded comparisons about mechs when i've stated like idk, maybe 6 times now it's not about mechs but the value of the packs compared to early access being a thinly vielled paywall?

Easy, your initial argument is, as you state, "pay 4 power" which, is of course, easily disputed by my argument when I tell you that any of these above mentioned mechs, and more, can do the same thing that the only two NON CBILL READY MECHS can do, with the exception of MASC.

How is it even "Pay 4 Power" when the vast majority of released mechs are deemed DOA? There have only been a few mechs released since Beta that have been head and shoulders above previous mechs. Since all mechs are released the same way, how can the method of early access be "Power" if most of the mechs released are "meh" or DOA?

MWO is only "pay 4 access", some mechs are inherently more advantageous than others, but that's not PGIs doing, it's based of the merit of the chassis' specs.

Is anyone really suggesting the Timberwolf should have only been released for C-bills?

In terms of Powercreep, we can't ignore that mechs generally got better from 3025 on, if not, at least 3050 on. It's the nature of war and tech races...is anyone suggesting PGI should only release mechs from increasingly earlier periods of BT history, or only release less effective mechs from 3050 on?

Powercreep is the natural progression, evolve, keep up or fall behind stomping your foot because war doesn't care about you. Go ahead, be that military official who insisted on ignoring the importance of new tech and new tactics because you want to snug in the comfort of the last war, the current roles you understand, the tactics that have served you well to this point. Be the guy who snubbed aircraft, submarines, aircraft carriers, tank vs tank tactics. The battlefield and the history books are littered with the failings of military meh afraid to embrace the future.

Wow!... Ok then. OP needs to have a time out before he has a stroke. Relax, this rage ain't healthy. Then again, I think you have this idea that being this forceful somehow strengthens your opinion.

Anyway, I like Fup's idea a bit, but even releasing an exclusive mech for inflated C-Bills at time of a MC launch isn't perfect. People could still make a valid argument that only people who pay for Premium Time or Hero mechs could be able to generate the additional C-Bills necessary to purchase that new exclusive mech. It still doesn't completely deal with the issue.

Overall though the new mechs launching behind a pay wall aren't a guaranteed better mech than what is out now for C-Bills. I do feel they are intended to be equal, but often their strengths or weaknesses aren't known until they are out being tested in the game in numbers post launch. With the TW and SCR it did happen, but we have a lot of mechs in this game, and there are many more examples of when this didn't happen. We just won't find as many clan examples because we don't have as many clan mechs.
