Clan Battlemechs.
I'm just going to skip the tirade and jump straight to the point:
I want the Devastator announced. Now. No more excuses. Now.

Nothing is unthinkable with PigGI. Going back on promises, introducing things that make no sense...even holding polls, then ignoring their results when they do not go their way. This, my good sir, is the PigGI way.
Honestly, though, the IIC mechs will make little difference in my gameplay, if I ever patch the game and play again; I play IS mechs almost all the time anyway. Highlander IIC excluded, of course.

Umm, Phoenix Poll? They abided by that, even though it really would have been in their best interest to ignore it.

3PV poll. In case you were not here at the time, they decided to hold a poll, to show how fair they were; then, once the results of the poll disagreed with them, they wrote it off and said that 90-something percent was somehow a 'vocal minority', and said they were going to do it anyway.

I was not here at the time, no.
The question I ask now is, how many people voted in that poll? And what was the total population of the forums/game itself at that time?
For all we know, 90% of the forum users at that time, could very well have been only 50% or less of the total game population at the time of the poll.

I don't remember exact numbers, but it was a record-breaking poll at the time and the response was overwhelmingly against 3PV. We do not know what percentage of users it was because PGI hides user data, but since PGI claims that the number of players has continued to grow it would have been a more significant percentage than anything since.
PGI put it in anyway, presumably on the orders of IGP. PGI can be pretty tone deaf at times, but this is one decision I'll lay firmly at the feet of IGP just due to the way things went down.
The {scrap}storm that surrounded 3PV makes all of these recent hubbubs seem very, very tame. It raged for weeks and pretty much completely dominated the forums. Nothing has really come close since.

And it was also the beginning of the end for the Devs to ever listen the Forum goers again. 3PV turned out as the Dev stated it would, a non issue, and yet, the QQ crew would not let go of their precious bone. We have paid for it ever since.
Besides, it was told that IGP was the real reason it really went in despite everything.

When that poll happened(not sure if PGI actually made the poll or if we did) there was roughly 4000 votes made(very heavily against 3pv) compared to now when most polls are lucky to hit 1500 votes and are usually almost 50/50 split.

It seems that the original PGI 3PV poll was removed, but this player poll from shortly afterward had just shy of 1800 votes, with nearly 85% being against 3PV.

That still begs the question, how many people, at the time of that poll, did not visit the forums?
For all we know, that could still be a "minority" of the entire playerbase. Just for Ss&Gs, let's say there were 20,000 people that played the game at the time of the poll, with only say 2000 people using the forums. With that math, that 85% of the forum users becomes maybe 10% of the overall playerbase.
The above is a hypothetical example, but for all we know, to IGP and PGI, with access to actual overall player base and forum usage, that could very well be why 3pv was put into the game.

3,832 players, 3,499 of which voted no.
PGI has long since removed the poll thread, but evidence exists in the form of screenshots taken while it was still up:

I also recommend this post by Vassago Rain as a reminder of exactly why PGI has a less than stellar track record and why the trust in PGI's word is rather low among the older forum posters.

Okay, so about 3500 people that actually visit the forums voted in that, going with the same hypothetical 20,000 total players, that's still only, what, maybe 15% of the total players? My math-fu is failing me on this one for some reason.
That said, that would still have given IGP their 'vocal minority' excuse. Granted this is just my point of view on it. If I'd been around then, maybe I'd have felt different about it then and now.

The 3PV forum debacle was legendary really. I still laugh at Worth a Buy's Mack take on it really one of the funniest things I ever seen at the time. There was more than 1 poll if I remember right and like 2 or 3 topics one of which was shut down etc, hundreds of pages flaming back and forth, hilarious comments. It may have effected the whole gaming industry as a matter of fact lol Funny stuff really. Laughing about it now and the debate was settled 1st person rules.
I still laugh out loud about one guys comment, he said "3pv is like going to the dinner table and standing behind someone else eating my meal"
With the recent advances in that 3d head wear, the debate is even more one sided. When it comes to what system will run the 3d head wear tech, I would bet on Sony. I bet right last time because it was Sony that was using Blue Ray dvd's and I forget the name of its competitor at the time. There were two systems before.
