Catapult does not need rescaling, it just needs the dynamic launchers like the timby.
That would cut down the ear volume a ton.

20T lighter.
Same height (all chicken walkers need lowering a little anyway, apart from maybe the Stalker)
Basically the same side profile
Larger front profile.

It needs shrinking somewhat.

Don't forge that the stalker is also quite small for a 85 ton mech. And he K2 itself isn't massviely oversized.

If i had my way the stalker and the catapult would both get the same amount of scale change in opposite directions

Seriously people, you're choosing the Catapult over the Quickdraw?

With its Atlas sized chassis, the QKD is objectively the worst offender. Put aside the fact that you like the Catapult.

75% of the time catapult and stalkers destroy Dragons. The dragon is noisy or sticky meaning ( electronics suck) ,the AMS on DRG (sucks).Missle batteries stick to DRG's when assults are 300m closer ! The DRG is a unique mech , with no love its a gone deal, hell I dont even like IS mechs , with many more weaknesses not mentioned . whatever I need a aspirin.
Ohh yea btw 4th July yea*

I agree about the Catapult being just fine. Since most battle groups do not use it right in this game makes it seem much worse than it is. When designed for the board game it was never meant to be a brawler but as fire support and it should be used in that role for this game. If you are having problems you are playing it wrong.

The Grasshopper should not be as big as an assault though, it should be someplace in between the average heavy and the average medium for over all size.

If only the quickdraw was a missile only boat, it would get the vote it deserve but then it would be a stupid mech.

Before I talk about what needs fixing, I'm going to say what doesn't: the Dragon. The Dragon is meant to be a big'un for its size; the Dracs designed it that way on purpose since it's their premier heavy.

Now, what does need fixing. First, the Quickdraw. It's just wrong all over. The head is oversized, the torso is too wide, the legs are too far apart, and the forearms are too bulky.

Moving on. The Mad Dog's torso was supposed to be short and compact. It's tall in the legs, but not up top. The Catapult needs to be shrunk by about 10%. It's too wide and too tall; just plain too big. The Grasshopper, while it's supposed to be a tall, thin 'Mech, is a little bit too tall. It could probably stand to lose about a meter.

There are actually two that should be a tad bigger and I'm surprised nobody has said it yet. The Timber Wolf should be a big bulkier, especially in the torso area. Same thing with the JagerMech - its "head" is supposed to look more turret-like. It's too flat.

For the Jagermech, that's an artistic / design thing, not a scale issue.

Bulk *is* a scale issue. The fact that the torso is too flat makes it too small. It also makes the rest of it look out of proportion.

Why is the dragon on only 9%?!

Because the dragon was so terrible for so long that no one plays it (except for the stupidly over quirked 1N).

No, scale is a sizing issue.

That means making one or all parts smaller or larger.
As-is, the Jager is about right overall in terms of size.

You'rs is an artistic / design thing.

So overall, bulk wise it's pretty close, just more angular, rather than cylindrical.
From the front, it's just as wide, from the side, it's just as deep, so it works out.

In terms of scaling it's reasonably fine.

Pretty much.
Quickdraw was never a popular chassis (and still won't be after the rescale), so of course people because of their personal biases vote for the mech they like more, which is this case the Catapult.

Bulk: magnitude in three dimensions.
I will grant you that the fact I think it should look more turret-like is a style thing, but that I think it's too flat - that it doesn't jut out enough - is a size issue. The cockpit part sits too far in, and should stick out more, which would make the torso bigger in the third dimension. That is size, as in "making one or all parts smaller or larger."

In any event, this is all moot 'cause nobody is voting for the damn JagerMech anyway. :-p

It's also not a scale issue. ;)

Also, making the cockpit rounded won't make it bulkier in any relevant way, as it won't go past the 'sheild' plates, meaning from the front and side, it will remain effectively the same. :)

To sum it up: PGI scales mechs according to proportions.

That's why the Grasshopper is so tall; the Devs made it thinner at a 90 degree angle.
The Quickdraw has clunky long legs, so technically it should be thinner at an angle.

That's it. It's not hard math. That's the logic behind it, which I do not prefer when compared to just increasing/decreasing the height. Really PGI, fix the game before I choose to play again.
My Quickdraw is a sore thumb.

since a catapult fix is inevitable, they should take this opportunity to revert to the old missile boxes or remodel the new ones so that they all fit in the box
