However, I'll concede that there aren't many mechs without heroes, we've already got a Medium hero being released, and apparently this is the only time line appropriate Thud canon hero...
Still, I find peoples sudden appreciation for Canon hero mechs suspect given the situation.
umm, no, it's not.
Notable 'Mechs and Mechwarriors
Captain "Dashing John" MacAllister
Commander of MacAllister's Support Company of the Eridani Light Horse, "Dashing John" models himself after the heavy cavalry officers of ancient Earth history. A student of Napoleon, he is famous for going into battle with Terran-French martial music blaring from the external cockpit speakers of his Thunderbolt, the Toujours L'Audance. His men nearly worship him, and many have adapted bits of old-style Napoleonic uniforms as their trademark. MacAllister is known for his rear-guard actions in support of the Eridani Light Horse, and has tallied 26 kills of his own.
MechWarrior Clare Sarton
Part of Keniston's Assault Lance of House Liao's Seventh St. Ives Armored Cavalry, Clare Sarton is quite young to have achieved a reputation among MechWarriors. Most of her fame is based on the Forth (and final) battle of Oasis 326 on the desert planet Daniels. Here she single-handedly disabled five enemy 'Mechs in as many minutes as they charged down the dunes toward her lance's position. It was mainly Sarton's speed and dexterity at the controls of her Thunderbolt, the Wild One, that forced the Davion attackers to withdraw. With the arrival of additional Davion reinforcements, however, the Liao forces eventually had to evacuate Daniels some weeks later.
directly from the 3025 TRO. No loadouts, because like the Pretty Baby, Boars Head, TDK, Firebrand and other Canon Heroes, the original mech was probably a stock model. Most Heroes have been made up variants based off canon noted pilots, often modified to reflect character traits described in text (Boars Head and PB being agile and fast for their class, for example)

So there were time line appropriate canon hero's that could have been set up in any way - as to provide something new and interesting...
Lol.

Don't forget the one on the right arm. It's got 9 energy points, not 8.
single arm energy likely will get ignored most often, as it would require a separate weapon setting, and not sync with much of anything..... well, I suppose the arm lock crowd will try for 7 Mediums, or 9 WUBs, etc. Or something else equally unimaginative.

With XL, you don't have enough slots, so it won't actually help much. You can take 18 DHS with XL300.
It can fit 17 DHS with 2 ERLL and 6 MPL on 260 STD, but it's still very hot: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...e809e7a0d5dd05a Maybe someone can make it work, but it would be too hot for me. Maybe with regular LLs...

that's a great comic! A typical IS pug pilot standing still thinking they should out range and out damage a clan mech twice their size by themselves because of quirks. Just shows you can't quirk stupid.

I know this isn't fair, but...
Every time I see a player playing with Arm Lock on, I immediately slot him into the "COD kiddy pool" crowd. I get the whole convergence issue when you're running several identical weapons, but that's just more reason to hate those mechs. Choosing to give up arm articulation is a crime in this game.

I always have at least one arm weapon, if available.
Just to shoot down those annoying as hell UAVs.
Bloody UAVs... I hate them SO MUCH!

Some of us know how to turn arm lock on and off on the fly...

The "Top dog" is an incredibly boring and generic name.
Also, not a big fan of the paint job.
You know, they may have some issues with taking canon heroes from some sources, with regards to licensing. I don't know - but there's a possibility there that they rename some canon heroes for that. Just spitballing, here, because obviously some (Yen Lo Wang) keep their names, and others inexplicably change them.

But IS can also have yummy AC that doesn't spread dmg
Don't start it.
We don't need another thread derailed to a sh*t-slinging match of:
"Clan Lasers are better",
"Oh yeah, IS AC20s",
"F*ck you and your 50% weight Missiles, Clan scum",
"I can't hear you over your +50% Quirks, freebirth"

Yup, some do. Many more just leave it on all the time.
I still maintain that adding arm lock at all did a huge disservice to this game. It HURTS new players, as they never learn how flexible their mechs can be, and is exploited by those who don't need the help at the higher end.
But, mine is a prejudice, pure and simple. I don't care if it's advantageous, to me running with armlock locked on makes you a kiddie pool mechwarrior.

Wasn't "Tallman" the last name of the Pilot? Mary Tallman?
So maybe "Tallman" wasn't the name of the mech?
It'd still be better than "Top Dog", because it is just so boring.
