I' ve been pushing for some recoil since Poptarting was king... If you're airborne, and you fire a gauss, or take a hit from one, you should pretty much be dead. You will never land on your feet, and mechs aren't built to fall on their asses. I would have much preferred this to the crippling of JJs we wound up with...
But, the idea in the OP contradicts a number of stock mechs, so, I disagree with it.
In Lore, even th mighty Fafnir had a pretty high chance of falling on its ass if it fired it's heavy gauss
I don't know if the Hollander II suffered from this or not...
