*sigh* Why, Pgi, Why, Is It So Hard To Listen? (Is It So Wrong To Want Our Guns To Look Cool, Too?)

unfortunately, the sheer level of bumbling incompetence shown by the recent weapon dynamics update suggests that the problem is someone in charge is screwing things up. i mean, putting unpaintable limbs in a game where the ability to paint your mech is monitized? someone said do it, and the poor suckers still on board coding had to obey.

There are no single-shell Standard ACs in BT canon.

the tomodzuru autocannon mount type 20 is noted as being able to rip off a crusader's limb in single shot, it's the standard autocannon on the hunchback.

an autocannon is listed as class 20 according to the damage rate it puts out, not the size of its shells. just happens that most designers prefer to use a model that doesn't distort the entire rest of the torso like the tomodzuru's massive cannon mount.

My 2 cents:

The Awesome's hardpoints aren't the best but they're currently an improvement imo. If the PPC sizes were increased by 50% the Mech would look great with this new alteration.
That, and if the PPCs were stacked horizontally as opposed to vertically. The AWS always had that "I have 3 PPCs sitting next to each other because it's cool, not because I need to hump hills like some hippie with a fetish" attitude, and stacking the 2 nipple PPCs on top of each other in the torso sort-of defeats that.

I get the feeling that this will be fixed, I'm just surprised that people like the way that the Dragon currently looks. The gun-arm was well done, the lasers were well done, but the SRM CT looks disgustingly tacked-on. And the Centurion looks glorious imo, wouldn't change a thing on it.

Maybe my aesthetic taste is a little different. I agree that the Snub Nose PPC looking K2 geometry sucks, but the Jager geo was fixed supposedly and everything but the K2/AWS look great now. As long as those are fixed down the line I'm happy personally. I just hope that the Awesome gets shrunk in general after these polls are over, maybe we'll have a usable Awesome for CW in 6 months, one can hope.

I think I'm honestly more furious at the Commando redesign than the Awesome. Why do the lasers have these big shield boxes? Why are the missiles now bracelets? What happened to the nice, flush left arm mount? Why do all of them besides the -2D look exactly like a Death's Knell now?

A "single shot" - that is, a salvo - still consists of multiple individual shells.

"Out of the flames loomed a Hunchback, with chunks of rebar-fanged concrete sliding off it. The old 50-ton monster stepped forward into what had been the front half of the warehouse. The short-barreled autocannon mounted on its right shoulder snarled a brief burst to its right. The hovercraft grounded at the west end of the block exploded, rising five meters on a pillar of yellow fire." - Black Dragon, ch. 17

Additionally, it is confirmed on page 06 of Era Report: 3052 that the Tomodzuru Type 20 is a 180mm autocannon, with a bore slightly smaller than that of the 185mm ChemJet Guns used by the Demolisher.

Since we know that the ChemJet Guns have the same per-salvo damage output & the same effective range and require a four-shell burst in order to deliver that damage, the smaller Tomodzuru Type 20 cannot be a single-shell-salvo weapon (which is also demonstrated by the passage from Black Dragon stating that the Hunchback's Type 20 "snarled a brief burst" while firing).

Look man, PGI does not read their own forums, if you want them to possibly listen you have to bug them on twitter or instagram.

OK, so I was screwing around in the 'Mech lab while I wrote this and found a bug, on the CN9-AH(L) if you put an AC/5 in before an LB10-X, it does not swap positions and it looks like you have twin 5s instead of a 5 and an LB-X. This only happens with the standard AC/5 and LB10-X and only when the LB10-X is mounted in the second hardpoint.

It's not only on the CN9-AH(L); here's a little game I call "Spot the UAC/5" on an Urbie:

Just a reminder given this was mainly about the Awesome, Part 2 of the rescaling vote is up.

PS - Bishop never submitted his K2 unless under that alt account he speaks of.

Easy, the outside one because it has a round part to its barrel where the MGs have square parts.
Yes, I got the point. ^_^

So in addition to the social media platform of cheap, regrettable hookups, dumb feuds and ISIS recruiting (Twitter) they also respond on the social media platform of selfie overload, scenes you need to scrub from your brain with a Brillo pad and pornstars (Instagram).

Community Outreach, working as intended.

submitted my K2 to what?

Oh.

Meh. No time. Besides it's an old, not current pic. Because the current K2 blows.

I was happy with the visual changes, personally...*but* I admit the Awesome on Bishop's OP does look better, though I think the PPCs are still slightly oversized.

That multiple ballistics bug is a funky one, you should probably post something about it in the right forum :P
