My Proposal For A Revised Terra Therma

Let's take the map. In the center we have that volcano right?
But lets take out that volcano, and replace it with a bigger --- much bigger --- volcano.
But this time the volcano isn't closed, but rather a huge open crater like caldera.
Inside the immense caldera at the very center, rises an artificial structure --- a geothermal power plant with cathedral like spikes to the sky.
Around the geothermal power plant, we have all sorts of bridges and walkways, heading to and round the power plant in concentric circles.
The plant has openings heading into it, an empty cavity inside where you can put a Conquest point and enables mechs to brawl inside it.
Four other conquest points are placed outside of the caledera at equal distances.
In addition to trails leading to the top of the caldera, there are trails leading to openings at the bottom of the caldera, and stairs leading to the concentric bridges on top.

Apparently in Terra Therma we have. The whole operation could be autonomous though.

Probably the instalation was built in the star league era, when mankind had the knowledge to build things like that. I like the idea of a fortress/installation avobe the caldera, but with more buildings in the border, including several levels of catwalks, vehicle bays, etc.
Another posibility is moving the caldera to the border of the map and change the rest of terrain to be more interesting, put there a "mining station" for conquest mode and use it as one of the bases for assault. Create a mining colony in the other side of the map for the other base.
The current terra therma is a day map? With a day-night cycle the map will be quite dark at night.

Fusion plants don't run on sewage, you need hydrogen for fusion, something particularly hot planets won't have a lot of. You take whatever power source you can get and a planet that is mostly covered in lava happens to be a good place for a geothermal energy plant.

How many SciFi fights take place in Volcanoes? Come on man learn your SciFi. Where did the fight between Obi Wan and Anakin take place? Suspend disbelief.

This idea would make the map realistic as a strategic battle location also.
This whole thing adds the need for defense shields/fields of some sort against air and orbital attacks, added to mechwarrior/battletech. Star Wars has them these days, so its not impossible to add these to maps in some way.

There is no reason to go anywhere else. It is the only landmark in the whole map.
1. The Caldera needs to be offset to a side.
2. There needs to be 2 or 3 other areas on the map with interesting features to draw your attention to it.

THIS
Most really good maps in video games have landmarks or structures that are easily identifiable... and thus are easy to coordinate or give quick info to your teammates..
