Had to move so hadn't been around in awhile.. haven't played for a few weeks. No room for my comp.

But I stopped in to check out the new mech models cause I love the Awesome and the Dragon, thinking 'well how could it be any worse than the other redos"

well, I shouldn't have asked that

this is some laughable sh*te. Luckily the looks of the mech don't detract from the actual gameplay but goddamn. I know we have some good reefer here in BC and clearly so do the guys working on the model revamps!!!

Good lord!

So here's hoping that my favourite mech the Quickdraw somehow slips under the radar and gets forgotten by the modellers.... which it might since only 1 variant has ACs and the missile tubes seem to change appropriately anyways

why you gotta rub it in my face like that

This is some bush league sh*t man. Did the unpaid interns do this work or what?

I am afraid to ask, but what does it look like if you put 3 AC2's on a 5n?

Don't. Just... don't.

And if you think the Dragon was lazy, check out the amazing 5 minutes they spent on my beloved Commandos...

Alex Iglesias' artwork is just about the only thing that almost the entire MWO community is happy with, every time. It must be something like 95% success rate. He's like King Midas. Everything he touches turns to gold. So what does PGI do? They go and change the one thing everybody loves about the game. They try to replace Alex Iglesias' designs with their own designs and it's literally never an improvement. Every time the 3D model looks different than Alex Iglesias' design, it ends up looking worse. Every single time.
"Yeah, let's go ahead and give the CPLT-K2 some smaller PPCs."
"Let's make the Trebuchet and Centurion torsos a lot wider."
"Let's make the Enforcer's head a lot bigger. Oversized heads are so cool!"
"Let's make the Dire Wolf cockpit bigger. Like a frickin 747 cockpit."
"Let's give the Quickdraw a squatting stance, like it needs to poop all the time."
"Let's replace the Jagermech's massive AC5 and AC2 barrels with some thin, spaghetti-like barrels. Tiny gun barrels are awesome!"

Every... single... time the 3D team decides to change something from the original design, it just looks bad.

Ok, there's one exception. The in-game Raven looks better than the concept art, IMO. Credit where credit's due.

quickies already have dynamic weapons or at least "mostly" - some missile hardpoints won't change between SRM4-6 and LRM5 for example.
And the CT missile Point only has 4 tubes, which is really sad, looking how much physical space you have and how much missile tubes other mechs got. Look at the X-5, from 2x2 tubes to 2x20.

On the other hand, I'm probably the only one who turned a quicky into a lurmie, so who cares, right?

I'm actually more worried what the rescale project will bring to us

Lets make the Grasshopper as tall as the Atlas! That will help the sales!

Just gonna leave this here... Feel free to bump it hahaha. The terribleness must be known!!!

I can live with the Dragon's arm honestly. I also don't mind the dark grey color they chose for each weapons geo. It's a good neutral color.
The Commando grew tumors too. Check it out.

Overall the pass was very... Mediocre. It reeks of unfinished rushed work. A generous 5/10 because I'm glad the Centurion arm doesn't look like the male end of a wall outlet anymore.

Actually, two things...

One, I tried hunting down some lore and official scale sheets and my findings support the argument that the Grasshopper is suppose to be as tall as an Atlas.

Two, I did a pixel count of the profile of every mech's silhouette in the game and the Grasshopper came out as hilarious small in profile compared to every heavy mech in the game with the exception of the Jager. GHR is a lean, but tall target with thin hitboxes, which makes it harder to focus components. Actually, I tend to mistake them for Shadowhawks and Firestarters a lot when I see one and the distance perspective doesn't immediately click in my brain.

Guess you need an eye exam. I can immediately spot a Grasshopper among the Heavy lance. Grasshopper is hence always first to draw my fire due to its tall profile. Who cares about how lean it is, when it is so easy to spot and fire upon?

Also this. See how the GHR is noticeably shorter than the Banshee? In MWO their height is identical.

I now remember that I think it was in replying to you that I crunched the numbers in the first place.

Need I remind you that the Banshee is actually taller than the Atlas? In MWO, it's not by much, but in lore it's probable that it's a greater difference.

I've heard a lot of arguments about the size of a mech...whether they're all 10m tall even the commando.

This is a FPS not a board game, TTK is bad enough without the mechs being oversized.
