Had to move so hadn't been around in awhile.. haven't played for a few weeks. No room for my comp.
But I stopped in to check out the new mech models cause I love the Awesome and the Dragon, thinking 'well how could it be any worse than the other redos"
well, I shouldn't have asked that
this is some laughable sh*te. Luckily the looks of the mech don't detract from the actual gameplay but goddamn. I know we have some good reefer here in BC and clearly so do the guys working on the model revamps!!!
Good lord!
Alex Iglesias' artwork is just about the only thing that almost the entire MWO community is happy with, every time. It must be something like 95% success rate. He's like King Midas. Everything he touches turns to gold. So what does PGI do? They go and change the one thing everybody loves about the game. They try to replace Alex Iglesias' designs with their own designs and it's literally never an improvement. Every time the 3D model looks different than Alex Iglesias' design, it ends up looking worse. Every single time.
"Yeah, let's go ahead and give the CPLT-K2 some smaller PPCs."
"Let's make the Trebuchet and Centurion torsos a lot wider."
"Let's make the Enforcer's head a lot bigger. Oversized heads are so cool!"
"Let's make the Dire Wolf cockpit bigger. Like a frickin
747 cockpit."
"Let's give the Quickdraw a squatting stance, like it needs to poop all the time."
"Let's replace the Jagermech's
massive AC5 and AC2 barrels with some thin, spaghetti-like barrels. Tiny gun barrels are awesome!"
Every... single... time the 3D team decides to change something from the original design, it just looks bad.
Ok, there's one exception. The in-game Raven looks better than the concept art, IMO. Credit where credit's due.
