1. Is their pub stomps still? Alot? I see people complaining about their w/l being vastly in favour of the lost.
2. Hows the match time? Does it take a while to get a game?
3. Hows the future for this game looking? Is it still maps and mechs?
4. What's the gameplay like at the moment? Last i played it was jumping mechs with ppcs. Is their any favourite weapon/mech at the moment?
5. How's the cash earning experiance? Painful?

-Jump sniping is gone. Jumping is almost gone. These days it's laser vomit with or without gauss. Dual gauss seems to be quite popular too. There are also few overquirked mechs which can be very effective with other setups.

Nice, also are gauss still chargable? Or have they reverted?
Thank God they are still chargeable. It'll take you a few matches to get used to the charge, but they are still the best long range weapon in the game.
Oh, and rewards are still in need of an improvement. I recommend you play at least 5 drops, and then come back to this thread with more questions. I'm gonna be online for a few hours more, and can help you figure stuff out.

Clan tech are generally...
Smaller
higher tech (mainly featuring on lostech).
lighter
more range
more damage
no min range
etc...
Clans got LBX and UAC for all ballistics, 2,5,10,20. All lasers are ER versions (small, medium, large).etc...
ECM and BAP are smaller and lighter.
XL engine can survive a ST destruction and is 2 slots smaller.
All of this got a counter ballance and such. this includes...
longer duration for lasers and higher heat.
less stronger quirks.
LRM's fire in a stream thus ECM deals with it easierly.
SSRM's have lower velocity and longer reloads (4 and 6).
UAC's fire multiple shells to do there damage (for eg UAC 20 fires 4 shells dealing 5 damage each to add to 20)
Ghost heat with energy weapons....
etc.
Another thing is clan mechs atm in game are all Omnimechs, difference between omni and battle is this.
Omni in MW: O can not change engine, or jumpjets, some heatsinks, ferro or endo structure or even the locations of it, and MASC.
HOWEVER, they can change the other equipment as well as change the entire section... for eg...
You got yourself a Stormcrow prime.
Normally it has a energy hardpoint in the head and 2 energy in each arm.
(stock: 3 er mediums, 2 er large).
But lets say you want to be a bit of a light hunter... you replace the left and right side torso for the "Stormcrow D" side torso- which is from the other "alt.configeration' (omnimech differences = alt.configs. battlemech = variants)
So now you got 5E hardpoints, and 3M hardpoints as 1D side torso got Missile, but the other has 2.
But lets also say you want to have a UAC 2 for range instead of the hot ER large lasers... you trade 1 of your arms to the C, which has a single ballistic hardpoint.
1B, 3E, 3M so far. and lets say you remove the head laser as the 50% less armour penalty there isn't your style. 1B,2E,3M.
Vola... SCR-PRIME
Not the best build. but a quick EG on what you can do with an omnimech.
the first 4 clan battlemechs are out for pre order (order before the end of this month and you get 1 variant extra for each mech and some other bonuses...) and it is the Jenner IIC, the HUnchback IIC, the Orion IIC, and the Highlander IIC.
These will play by battlemech aka "inner sphere" rules in the mechlab with clan tech.
Also 1 kinda usefull difference is clans got a thing called "Targeting computer', in general boost some stats like velocity on some weapons, enhance zoom in range, etc... they come in 7 versions, the number for each targeting computer coresponds to the weight and slots.
Targeting computer V = 5 slots, 5 tons.
you can have any size as long as you can fit it, the bigger it is= the better it is.

Welcome back!
If you never played the Clans you should try that out. They are for some players somehow a bit more difficult to play, but most of the Clan mechs are great stuff. The description of Nightshade is mostly on the point.
Maybe 2 more points to add:
- MASC allows Clan mechs to have a faster movement for a short period of time. Atm it is on Executioners (assault mech) and on Shadow Cats.
- Clan factions in general: There are the Wolfs, Jade Falcons, Ghost Bears and Smoke Jaguars. Each of them has a good amount of loyal house units in Community Warfare (CW). To start with Community Warfare you should get yourself a unit that teaches you the tactics there. Moreover the wait times are shorter with 11 other people dropping with you as a drop group.
For the Clan loyal units I recommend you for Jade Falcon the Jade Falcon Primes, for Clan Wolf the Star Wolfs, Delta Galaxy & Gamma Galaxy, for the Ghost Bears the Clan Ghost Bear International and for the Smoke Jaguars the Smoke Adders, 267th Battle Cluster & the 19th Strikers.

Really, really, really bad.
Not so much for the C-Bills bur for the XP. Getting a mech through basics and maybe elites + gather the correct modules is way too long.
I'd actually recommend not to try new mechs/stuff or don't play. It is real real big waste of time.
No matter if you buy 200 dollars worth of mechs, you are at a disadvantage be default if you haven't done the grinding. And there is nothing you can do about it apart from quitting your job, sticking to your already owned mechs or buy XP.
Really, I'd advise against investing more time in this game if you have started over. Allthough the game has gotten significantly better over the years, the grind is still there.

Clan vs IS, from new player POV - Clan Mechs are upgraded and more expensive upfront, IS Mechs are cheaper but you will want upgrades like Double Heatsinks (1.5M), and bigger engine, possibly XL.
Queue time depends on a class - heavy is most stack class in EU prime time, with lights the least popular. During day (EU again) I saw pretty even distribution.
Play all your 25 games (you get extra C-bills, called Cadet Bonus) before you decide what to buy. Also keep in mind that trial Mechs have often terrible loadout

Which really only matters if you suffer from 'gotta catch them all' syndrome. There are also people that are completely hooked to only a few or sometimes even just 1 mech and have played those for YEARS!
Me, I make calculated choices about mechs that seem fun to play, and based on the experience either keep them or get rid of them. So I've gotten about 40-50 mechs in 2 years time, I haven't got any XP problems though, mainly because I simply enjoy playing them.

lolwhat
you can basic a mech in like 20 (or less)-25 games, elite a basiced mech a couple of games faster than to basic, and you can master elited mech in 30-40 games
each game lasts 5-8 minute and, well, you wanted to play this game to play this game, right

I guess it has partially to do with the rank/weight class instead of rank per chassis variant.
And yes, i kinda got a bad case of "gotta catch'em all" syndome. :S More mechs in the bays then i can ever play; >100 now iirc.
If you stick to one Mech, there is no problem i guess. The time to go through the pilot tree is pretty short if you compare it to all the time youll play after that.

OnE thing that I think is important to note, is that IGP is no longer the "Distributor" (read big brother overlord) any more, and since then there has been a marked improvement from the Dev team. They are providing detailed monthly road maps (and keeping them updated) that generally are delivered as promised and many times are listening to community feedback (of course not everything as that would be dumb, and of course they are still looking to make cash). There is a dedicated community manager (Tina) that most people seem to like and interact well with and there will more then likely be a Steam release by the end of the year so hopefully a flood of new blood/talent will come with that. There have been regular mech packs coming out (they dont do single releases any more unfortunately) which always seem popular. There is also.......
THE URBANMECH!!!!!!!!!!

siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiggggh
Look, remember MW4? Did you guys enjoy MW4?
Then forget about the xp and skill points and whatnot and
just
play
your
mech.
(Then when you have "ground up" enough XP, those perks are just a neat bonus).
Get new mechs if you see some you want, game is still quite fun.
