My settings are normal in game and in my video card, my monitor is correctly color calibrated (necessary due to my line of work). Thus, it looks exactly as it should.

I have no problem seeing on night maps, either night in RC now, or RCN back in the day.

Maybe your monitor is set up incorrectly?

directX 9 or 11?
I can't test it, but I am told that 11 isn't nearly as dark by players when I asked how they could see enemy mechs that I could not see without night vision.

I like dynamic light - maybe slow it a bit down...

11, but 9 as well. Even from RCN's initial release way back, when there was only DX9, I had absolutely no problem seeing mechs across the map in the dark.

The only time I'd use heat/night vision was to counter the HDR/light bloom/whatever that darkens everything when there are bright flashes (such as gunfire).

And that's over three video cards and two monitors... Although every monitor being color corrected of course, and I generally play in a moderately dim room (I'm not one for having lights on unnecessarily). No artificial light, open windows but not direct sun.

I agree with the OP.
The time passes way too fast on River City. I like the variable start times, but please slow the passing of time by a considerable amount.

I would like to see more of the night version. And I wish it were darker, too. Because it apparently it makes other people mad and they don't know how to use eyeballs.

Learn to use eyeballs.

Dynamic lighting is fine and it should stay. What we need to sort out are Night and Heat Vision which are making you even more blind.

I agree with the OP. Certain aspects of a dynamic map are fine (knocking over trees, etc...). But I find the constant change of the daylight time annoying and not enhancing gameplay or enjoyment.
A nice idea and worth a try, but a dud.

I find the nightvision is hard on the eyes... if the green was toned down some, I might not mind using it.

Interesting about dx9 and dx11 both being ok without night vision for ya... I might have to play around and see if I can improve things on my system ;)

That's because heatvision in MWO is brought to you by the potato farmers union. That's to say that it's a joke. If you run it at full spec and with "normal" lighting settings then you're at a disadvantage when compared to running it at low spec with high gamma. All that to say that they need to re-fix heat and night vision.

Which was brought to you by the orignal heat vision mode being 'the only way to play' because it highlighted the CT and the Cockpit areas so well you could headshot and CT core people across the entirety of all the maps (this was before alpine).
