The rights to the unseen mechs still remain the same. Those of you who don't know what the unseen mechs are, here's the list of the mechs that will NOT be appearing in mechwarrior online:

Archer
BattleMaster
Crusader
Galleon
Goliath
Leopard
Locust
Locust IIC
Longbow
Marauder
Marauder II
Ostscout
Ostsol
Phoenix Hawk
Phoenix Hawk LAM
Rifleman
Samurai
Scorpion
Shadow Hawk
Sparrowhawk
Stinger
Stinger LAM
Super Wasp
Thunderbolt
Valkyrie
Warhammer
Wasp
Wasp LAM
Wolverine

This list was attained from sarna. Thank you and have a great day.

I believe you are incorrect sir. Did they not just release the Rifleman?

lol

This is silly, they can easily do some reseen versions. I think a bit of FD tweaks on some reseen designs could work wonders. Take the thundebolt reseen. I think it's something they will look at post release though so they can add in the premium type stuff.

things like this should not happen inside a single series, its so stupid. Why can the mechs from one company used in a previous mechwarrior games not be used in a following mechwarrior game by a different company?

MECHWARRIOR = MECHWARRIOR!!!!!!!!!!!!

you seem to be missing the point. The original artwork was stolen from another franchise. If you steal something you dont simply get to say sorry and keep using it unless the person you stole from is very forgiving.

The solution that worked was making new artwork for these mechs, but as you can see many people fell in love with the original stuff and complain heavily about the new artwork. Easiest solution for mechwarrior has been to let the drama rage on and just avoid having the mechs in the game at all.

IF they ever bring these old mechs back it will be with the redesigned artwork.

IF they do the forums will be months of people complaining.

Devs are basically in one of those damned if they do and damned if they don't situations. So probably just decide to spend development resources on mechs that dont have the drama attached to them.

Personally I hope they just keep pushing out more mechs at a rapid pace. I don't really care if they bring back the marauder, archer, thunderbolt, warhammer, and all the other unseen. I would play them if available, and I won't be upset if they dont make it in. I will be upset if the mech selection and variety isn't expanding regularly along with a regular expansion of the maps/arenas to fight in.

What would really make me happy? If the dev's put out a map design toolset and let players make maps that they polish up.

I grew up playing the TT and watching Robotech cartoons. I love the original mechs from my boxed game and would love to see some of them make it into MWO. However, from a financial standpoint even if they did put the unseen/reseen/whatever into the game I believe it would be in their best interest to make us purchase them. As a free to play title, they make their money when we spend money on the game. I would probably drop a few bucks to play one of the original mechs I fell in love with as a kid, as would many on this forum. I also believe that this is direction they will go.

They did not. The Jagermech has been around since 1986. it's not a replacement.

There is nothing wrong with the mechs them selves. The attributes of the mechs are not contested and so can be used. As long as the developers change the art behind the mech making it more modern, something they are doing to most of the mechs by the way, then there will be no issue with the unseen.

The problem is that so many people are fussing over silliness that they are making an issue. So if you like a mech, like the Warhammer, just say that you would like to see it in game and that it being redesigned is fine. Nothing more is needed.

The point about unseen is moot, however i think it is the point about how these particular mechs are so very versatile and beloved that makes this topic come up again and again.

Is it the versatility of these mechs that we love or is it the ascetics? Personally, I would appreciate something as versatile on paper as the unseen heavy and assault mechs, but a large part of my love for the Marauder is its symmetrical glory. Part of me wants to see THOSE designs and damn the functionality.

Devs say that there will be no weapon that you cannot buy with in game currency. Mechs are not weapons though, they are platforms. From the business perspective i would totally take advantage of that fandom and make you pay cash for a Warhammer. (From a consumers perspective... TAKE MY MONEY!)

IGP can probably redesign them, and make them look a hell of a lot better, especially than that reseen garbage.

They've pretty much tweaked all of the mechs from their original designs, some not so much, others greatly.

Last time I checked the Centurion was an ugly ****, and now it looks cool as hell. So I'd fully expect to see all the unseen redesigned to look better (possibly under new names)

There's a Phoenix Hawk reseen. I prefer this one anyways.

The names aren't a problem, nor are the stats, they are Battletech originals, its purely the appearance that is the offence. The medium class suffers most. One thought that has cheered me up is that perhaps we will see the so called "replacement for the Warhammer, one of my favourites, the Thug. It's one of the few assaults I would consider piloting.

This whole thing comes down to personal taste. I started playing MW with the table top game in the '80's so a Marauder is a Marauder...not some rehash from Project Phoenix. Yes the Devs are doing an amazing job with the Mechs, of which I like all the redesigns they've done, even if I haven't been a fan of that Mech. (Yes I mean you Jagermech.....Looks the the Urbanmechs older brother, an all grown up walking trash can...lol)

I have a solution to our problem. It all comes down to the morons at Harmoney Gold not wanting their property used. Has Harmoney Gold actually used this property in the last 4 or 5 years? Yes they tried another Robotech movie in the mid 2000's I think, but it flopped. If everyone here went out and bought 1 or 2 Robotech DVD's, the sudden influx of cash should more than make up for MWO using the property........

Just a thought...but then again, I have the first 10 episodes on VHS, So I won't have to worry about Comstar knocking down my door for having the new fangled Lostech of DVDs.....
