Yeah playing whales in Pubs is a crapshoot. Why i usually switch to my FastLas when this starts to happen. 57-60 KPH 100 tonners can usually keep up with the Nascar groups. The only issue then is getting close.

Warhawks are also great for Nascar. 71khp with 4 erppcs and a whole mess of double heatsinks

The worst is when your Assault mech (usually a cocky Direwhale) goes off on his own. Its not even that they get left behind its that they move out of position to boot. I usually try to assist in my light mechs because I can get there fast enough but as soon as they get swarmed I'm out of there.

Both are valid arguments. With one exception. If you are the "faster" Mech and your Assault begins to waddle off on his own. You are better suited to catch him than he is to catch you. Let Him Know "We are going to E4, Fall in." If he doesn't, then it is all on him. And when I fall behind, it's on me to remind you, "I only go 55 KpH, Slow down." If I don't (and I normally don't) Its on me.

You sir ARE the player he is complaining about. A force should only be as fast as its slowest member. If you run off and leave your armor/Firepower behind, It's your imminent death you are prophesying..

Playing a DWF in the public queue is always a gamble.

If you start at the center position, you are fine.
If you start at the right side of the NASCAR, you are fine.
If you start at the wrong side of the NASCAR, you will die.

You just have to accept that - or you will always be bitter, when the third scenario inevitably hits.

If you can not deal with that, you should not bring a DWF to the public queue - after all, it is horribly slow, if caught out of position, there is very little chance to get out alive.

On the other hand if your fellow Assaults stay with you... whoa be it on anything that tries to pick you off as easy prey.

Only if they don't defend one another... Which makes you more right than me cause team work is a foul and filthy thing to most PUGs.

Actually he is mostly correct. Assaults can have as much as 19 tons of armor and upwards of 50 tons of weapons. If they are abandoned because they are slow its the fast guy's fault. A smart team will try to stay with the slow guns, or lead them so enemies will be drawn into the Assault guns as well as your own. Thinking like a maverick is why PUGs get rolled.

Sooo.... if you know this is going to happen... why do you insist on piloting a big fat slow mech?

There are plenty of assault mechs that can go 70+ KPH... so even if you have to bring less guns, it's still better than getting picked off by 2-3 fast mechs.

Because if I didn't people would whine cause their tream didn't have assaults and the other guys did. Play like a team and don't run off till you know where the enemy is.

Also not everyone likes speed over power.

So everyone should play a slow and fat mech and have 15 minute poke matches?

If your own hapiness depends on what people do in the PUG queue.... you're gonna be unhappy.

Get a fast assault, nobody has to be your personal bodyguard so you can pad your score and c-bills.

Nope. But only the scouts should break off until the enemy is found. Then the mediums and fast heavies should move up and maneuver to attack from sides or front. I can happily lose a match with 2-3 kills and/or 4-6 assists. But if the fast boys are to impatient to keep formation (even if the formation is a blob) Its on you not me. A force that stays together wins.

No, you're playing wrong...

You need to be in a fast deathball and overrun the enemy.

Stop playing wrong you're screwing up the team by wasting tonnage on slow mechs.

Stop being wrong.

It has to be common sense! Infantry is not known for being really smart. Smart people don't put themselves in harms way or run into on coming bullets! ^_^

i stopped being wrong when I chose to pilot something with power over speed.

it's the point that the Deathball stays with the Assaults that you seem to miss.

Not required.

You can always safely bet on the other teams assaults beeing left behind.

So staying with your assaults only makes the deathball more powerful then the enemy's Assaultless deathball. ;)

Would you rather 4 Whales or 4 gargles in your deathball when you overrun the enemy team that has 4 Whales in theirs? Congrats on find them so quickly in your fast deathball, now enjoy being focussed down by superior firepower.
