Have been trying to get my first win of the day on my Firestarters and for about 7 games straight my team just dies. I'll be like the 6th or 7th person dead, enveloped by the enemy after 5 or 6 of my team mates wither away. It happens so fast you cant even get 30 match points in the Firestarter.

lol ... not sure what is happening.

Yeah, can't lagshield anymore?
You'll just have to learn how to play a light mech properly, sorry.

On a more serious note, losing streaks do happen, but look on the bright side - after enough losses you'll drop in ELO so much that you're bound to win at least once.

You can learn a lot from a long losing streak. Pay attention, and improve every game. UBAIGHT

WHenever I'm piloting a light mech, I feel as if I have to have something that has at least a 400m range, otherwise I feel like I'm gimping myself in them.

That's why mechs like the Adder fit me to a T, as I can poke them at range with it. If a knife-fighter light catches me, I'll just self-destruct myself.

My suggestion as a light may differ a little.

If hugging your heavies and assaults isn't working, then try branching out a bit.

While I don't always recommend this but if you feel like you know what you are doing then playing a distraction is sometimes a good thing.

I run radar derp so I can hide behind cover and generally not be seen. Loop around behind the enemy team. Try to find an Assault or two and get their attention. Blitz them and make sure they see you then run behind cover. Pop out somewhere else and shoot again. More often then not they will start chasing you.

May not be the most noble, but thats two less mechs fighting your team. Yes you may die. Yes you may just straight up get a kill if you are lucky. But I find it helps more than just hugging your team as it lets you use your agility to your advantage.

But yeah, sometimes they just sic their lights on you and you die quickly. But hey, thats the luck of the draw.

Also, while not an option always if you don't have any missle hard points but in the current meta, LRM's seem to be everywhere in puglandia. So take a narc with you. I know last night my lance was separated on Tourmaline Desert. We were outnumbered 7 v 4 but I had narc so the rest of the team with LRM's helped save our bacon and we killed all seven without any losses.

Just gotta try mixing it up sometimes too.

You miss the point entirely.

He wasn't talking about HIS performance or the fact that HIS mech is any more or less vulnerable.

Personally, I've played about a dozen light mech matches this week mostly in Jenners with a Firestarter and Spider thrown in and didn't notice much of a change. Lights have always been vulnerable if they stop moving.

However, he was talking about getting teams that seem to fragment then get steam rolled. Playing in the current tournament I have to admit that I have seen this too from both the winning and losing sides ... (running in lights, mediums and heavies) ... though more in Conquest than in the other game modes. One side or the other seems to do a better job of staying together and they win due to focused fire and greater coordination. Once they have taken out three or four opponents ... everyone on the side with more mechs is less reluctant to push so then (although they still might lose 2 or 3 in the rush) then tend to roll over the opponents leaving the end of the match score in the 12 vs 2 to 4 range.

Nothing to do with hit registration, light mechs being harder to play or anything you seem to have misread into the post (though his title IS misleading) since the issue has nothing to do with light mechs but team play.

You need to roll with a UAV to get cheap-easy match points, and then do as much damage as you can.

There's no other way to counter the derpage that happens.

Find the enemy first. Then Drop a UAV all the spotting it does in it's few seconds of life will very often bring you to 30 points even with 200ish damage.

There is not a whole lot you can do sometimes. To play a light effectively the rest of your team has to survive and do enough damage so you can kill/maim enemy mechs as they are retreating and have the freedom to use your mobility to harrass and pick engagements that favor you.

The "carry" scenario in a light is much more dependent on your team than if you are in a heavy. With the HSR change, its suicide to solo any competent pilot.

After 8 matches on the European server of my team collapsing I just hopped into the Timberwolf to finish off the Assault and Skirmish games. Then hopped into my Arctic Cheetah and finished off my Conquest games. Timberwolf firepower let me get my 30 points easily. Same thing with the Cheater. ECM and Clan XL survivability definitely made the games easier.

ive been seeing a lot of lights doing the unthinkable lately. the are standing still. keep the squirrels running at top speed and you will be fine. whats even more annoying is i am constantly tripping over them and sometimes they explode.

I carried pretty well in my Atlas-S. I only needed like 28-30 Matches to get 22 wins (ie 30+ points). Didn't get around to skirmish. Had things to do around the home.
