Yeah they changed the routing. I am experiencing the same issue, I had a ping of 150 and now its jumped to 300. I am hoping its a temporary route until they fix the direct route (wishful thinking). If nothing changes i will switch to North American Servers again because i am getting a better ping on them. I live on the Gold Coast and am with Telstra.

Incident Summary

Sea-Me-We 3 outage
Service: Internet, Ethernet Category: Incident Status: Active ETR:
Description

Please be advised that an International circuit between Perth and Singapore has failed. Vocus engineers are working to establish the cause of the failure and to bring the link back online. A brief disruption to your service may have occurred while the network re-converged with a possible increase in latency until the link is restored.

Status Updates

11/12/2016 20:06 AEST Please be advised that an International circuit between Perth and Singapore has failed. Vocus engineers are working to establish the cause of the failure and to bring the link back online. A brief disruption to your service may have occurred while the network re-converged with a possible increase in latency until the link is restored.

11/12/2016 21:35 AEST This has been escalated to third party providers to investigate. At this stage no further impact to services is expected as all traffic is on alternate paths. Further information will be provided once received. Please contact Vocus Support on 1300 855 845 if you are experiencing any issues.

12/12/2016 04:54 AEST This has been escalated to third party providers who suspect a cable fault on the Sea-Me-We 3 submarine cable between Perth and Singapore. At this stage no further impact to services is expected as all traffic is on alternate paths. Further information will be provided once received. Please contact the Vocus Support Centre on 1300 855 845 if you are experiencing any issues.

13/12/2016 09:30 AEST Please be advise that the Sea-Me-We-3 failed due to a cable cut 1125km away from Singapore Tuas Cable Station, affecting our primary core network path between Perth and Singapore. A ship is being arranged by our upstream provider to dispatch and fix the damage. No ETR has been provided by the cable provider but historically these repairs take over a month to repair due to complexity of repairing submarine cable faults. Customers can expect to see increased latency to Asian destinations until this link is restored. Please contact the Vocus Support Centre on 1300 855 845 if you are experiencing any issues.

17/12/2016 09:28 AEST Dear Customer, Our provider has advised that cable ship ASEAN Explorer is assigned for the repair operations. The tentative repair window is scheduled from 8 Jan to 12 Jan, subject to permits approval. Customers can expect to see increased latency to Asian destinations until this link is restored. Further updates will be provided as they are received. Please contact the Vocus Support Centre on 1300 855 845 if you are experiencing any issues.

Oh man, sorry for you. Posted Image Hope they have fixed it.

I remember when Singapore to USA has a major internet line failure.

Still remember trying to deal with an online video seller in USA was so clueless and unhelpful.

Said I was stealing his video because I tried for like 20 times to download a vid and due to the failure they rerouted my slow traffic to between Hong Kong and Taiwan. Keep on saying my country address and billing IP was clearly different, and got to many concurrent downloads (DTA! anyone?). Did not believe me no matter how much proof I sent him ...

Site banned me, before quietly unbanning me a few months later, guess too ashamed to admit I was speaking the true.

USA people, sometimes really so clueless about how outside world has to operate as the majority of Internet hubs are in USA.

Nice surprise. Back to near normal pings.

I'll be even more surprised if it lasts.

Anyone in Perth still have problems ? I'm on Amnet and am still
getting 200+ to Oceanic whereas I used to get ~55 before the
most recent cable incident.

Just started playing today after about a month off. Lag & rubber banding was really bad but ping look OK. Crimson Strait was by far the worst...

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG russ said in the competitive play roundtable because most of the oceanic players are actually in Australia not Asia the server might get moved to Sydney/Melbourne from Singapore YAY =).

Riot's OCE servers for league are pretty good, maybe pgi can get a contract with whoever does their servers?

From New Zealand. 190 ping is awful.
Singapore isn't ****ing Oceanic.
That's South East Asia.

Different regions.
Why the hell are our servers in bloody Singapore of all places!?

Because Australian internet traffic costs a lot more. Because Telstra profit margin.

I think my traffic is going via Sydney anyway at the moment so that would be a win. Has it suddenly become too expensive to use the Perth / Singapore cable ?

Of course, if the server moves to Sydney I expect my ISP will for some reason starting routing me to Sydney via Singapore Posted Image

Yeah I don't know. Its always alternating between Perth>Singapore and Perth>Sydney>Singapore. Ultimately unless its managed the routing is automated by each node it passes through, and quite inefficiently in this case.

The Perth>Singapore cable has been at capacity for as long as I've taken notice of it and has been broken at least three or four times in the past few years. Problem is, until it fails completely it makes the expense of placing newer cables less profitable because ISPs will go with cheaper options because customers flock to cheap internet.

Perth>Sydney is pretty solid by comparison.

I'm not at home, so I can't run this trace now, but from Auckland New Zealand my ping ranges from 270-388ms, with the European server being the fastest, and ironically, the Oceanic server being consistently the slowest! Not only that, but everyone's latency seems very high.

It's a shame the server is not in Sydney, Australia. My connection speed to there (playing Titanfall 2 for example) can be as little as 50 ms.

Needless to say, the poor connection is disappointing when these are meant to be the servers in my local region. The affect would be worse in a twitchier game, but undoubtedly it will be costing me hits and getting me killed to some degree.

I hope the situation can be improved.

yeah my pings have turned bad.

You can see I can ping Singapore at ~70ms. Not MWO's server though.

I connected via a VPN server in Toronto last night. That got it down to a usable ~280. But that also puts my oceanic ping at around 400+, so that server had to be disabled. If you already have a VPN you could try that until its fixed.

Ah cool. I dont and it seems it was a spike as both na and oceanic are 240ish atm. (Not ideal but playable) :)

I'm in Auckland, NZ, and for the past few nights my Oceanic Server ping has HALVED from 288ms to 136-144m/s.

What's changed? Anything? I'm hoping it's a permanent improvement (although shifting servers to Sydney would rock). It made a difference... pretty sure a game where I scored 1023* damage was on the improved ping. Being able to react at the same time as everyone else really helps, even in less twitchy games like MWO.

So MWO staff, if you have read this thread and tried to help us Oceania MechWarriors out... THANK YOU!

Nope, i've just had my ping go crazy. I got nbn last week and for the first two days my ping went from 250-70 to 240. Now it's 278+ for NA.

Oceanic has go to 270 from at least 170ish.

EU is 330+

Something is up and it's not on my end.
