Yes they do, I whould prefer to see them dialed down a litlte bit in favor of at least some extra armor on that torso. I don't know I used to do amazing with them now they seem like a really bad pick, specially for competitive games.

They are 50 tons... How much more armor do you want?

I'll weigh in on this as I am both a new player and a Hunchback driver. (the only 3 mechs I own are Hunchbacks)

I'll just tell the OP to learn to play to his strengths. Anything can get wrecked by an Arctic Cheetah up close an personal. Especially if caught alone. I played quite a bit in the single queue and then played some with my uncle in the group queue this past weekend.

As being a new player with a crappy Elo, we kept getting shoved into matches with players from SJR, Emp, and 228 to 'round down; their higher Elos.

And yes, they aim for that hunch. They are looking to rip it off with every shot. So you have to play smarter and not just run out and say oh look at me I'm running around so fast in my 80 kph Hunchback you just cant possibly hit me. Nope not gonna work, they are gonna rip off that hunch in no time.

You have to pick your battles. Move with a buddy or two. That will generally deter the single light mech. Believe me they dont want to catch a AC20 to the leg or get sprayed with 8 or 9 medium lasers. Catch you alone and they will just out manuver you and stay behind. But if you have friends they cant live behind you, because then they slow down and are easy pickings for the rest of your team.

The hunchback is too slow to be a manuver based mech like a light. You have to use that 4P and peek out from cover unexpectedly and light em up, then get back where they cant get you. Then when your side is up a few mechs or is making a push you roll along with your team and put your weapons to use and break cover.

Looking forward to the massive nerfs to the Cheesy Cheeto.

Im guessing maybe heat and agility nerfs with some minor structure reductions.

Haha I am being funny, but likely it will get nerfed a bit.

I think the AC is fine. It's the Clan Spider, albeit with more hardpoints. It doesn't have alot of free tonnage for its weight - the Kit Fox has roughly double the amount of free tonnage that the Arctic Cheetah does.

We gotta bunker down and wait for the balance update to happen first; *then*, when PGI has established their formulaic approach to balance, it will be time to analyze specific mechs, weapons, or what-have-you.

The Arctic Cheddar is probably more analogous to the Firestarter because it has very simialr physical size/shape as the FS9, as well as having actual firepower (unlike the Spider). The structure quirks give it similar total health, too (actually slightly higher IIRC).

The Cata 3D is practically dead. Escpacially as a jump sniper. Reason: jump jet elevation is too slow. Exposure time too long.

One build that is usuable is the fate of many IS mechs. If you want flexibility, play clans.

It still works and it recently got a jump jet buff. It jumps exactly as high as most Grasshoppers and I've been doing just fine poptarting with those recently. My Cataphract 3D was in my CW drop deck for months until I got bored with it. I should say that the Grasshopper is better suited to poptarting due to it's higher firing points and narrower profile, but the lack of ballistic hardpoints means it does a comparatively poor job of focusing damage, so the 3D still comes out ahead.

I won't even dare to think about XL in a Hunchy anymore...

Yes It's pretty good if u want a medium sniper, thats about the only use u can put him into since if u play him right u wont have to brawl with any mech, however no JJ in a sniper isn't the best case. I whould prefer a Cata 3D for the same job. Thats another thing quirks are fine but they ultimately make only 1 build viable. I used to be able to do many things with my GI.

>XL
>Hunchy

I found the problem guys!

Never run XL in a hunchback unless you enjoy being murdered by light mechs.

If you have an XL the smart people can easily tell from your loadout and speed and then shoot your non gun side that doesn't have all those sweet hp buffs to kill you hella fast.

Learn to aim. 2 of those 4 missed.

Haha. I like the Arctic Cheddar better than Cheesy Cheeto since its more original. Cheese flavoured Omni mechs names need to have some variety.

The armor buffs for the Hunchbacks right torso are next to worthless at the moment.

Well, the Spider has a similar profile and section hitboxes as well; the difference is *only* that it doesn't get as many hardpoints.

If limited-number-&-sized hardpoints were a thing, it would have an edge on the Arctic Cheetah for that reason....

And yeah personally, quirks oughta just disappear.

After the release of Arctic Cheetah I think that was the final nail in the cofin for those two hunchbacks. I can't really get a decent game in any competitive level. Even low skill players realize that getting your torso is 90% of the job and every light is rolling with pinpoint Small Pulse and specially clan's SPL are a nightmare.

Your torso will bust open 100%. Only good games I managed to get are those that after hyper manouvering I manage to protect my toro and spread arround the dmg a little bit more, a tactic that was the only way to play those hunchbacks anyway (specially 4P). But I say again, every mid skill player and higher will never even bother hitting you anywhere else... back + front side torso = gg.

I won't even bother about lights getting on your back unnoticed because that was always a desaster

answer me this....

What does the Cheeta do that IS light cannot?

The answer is nothing therfore how has the game changed at all?

You are just whining and hoping someone pats your hunchie on the back and tell him its ok? GI is still a great mech...i dont kno what ACH have to do with it.

Hunchback has as much armor in the hunch as a VTR does in CT...Seems to me you are the worthless one if you cant make that work for ya.

It's a Firestarter but with ECM.

IS don't get a light that is both good for front-line combat (especially against other lights), and carries ECM.

ACH is really just the best light right now, while IS have to pick between a light that is actually good at combat, or one that carries ECM. The closest IS comes is with the RVN-3L.

Spiders come stock with smaller weapons and/or fewer weapons than the Arctic Chinchilla on most variants, so no hardpoint system in the world could help the Spidey.

The Arctic Cheetah is not significantly better than the Firestarter (the FS9 has more speed and durability, the Cheetah has the option of ECM). If you think that the Cheetah has killed the GI and 4P than you're out of your mind.

Horse ****. Hitboxes on the AC are bizarre. I can't tell whether the mech is any good or not because you don't have to be any good to play it. They can stand in front of two enemies and if they don't get their legs blown off, they're practically superman.

Besides which, two weeks ago people were bitching about the Firestarters and because the AC is "not significantly better" (although it ~ is ~ better) that makes it ok? Compare armor, durability, firepower, ECM (ok, you can't really compare that) and tell me that a 6kph faster speed makes up for the obvious advantages of the AC. I don't really care if they nerf the damned thing. I just want them to fix the hitboxes. The hitboxes make me nostalgic for the golden days of the raven and spider - but at least you could kill them.

Sure, if you say so. They're totally overpowered. The other day an Arctic Cheetah that was boating MG ammo stole my lunch money.
