Solo's should be allowed to drop, but only if they first know how to play CW (suggest a CW training mode in the academy) and only if they rank high enough to contribute to the game..

NB:If you are commonly doing less that 500 dmg in 4 mechs you need to either 1. re-evaluate your builds or 2. re-evaluate how you are playing CW.

Your first sentence is spot on.

The second sentence is only partly correct....It is right in so far as by dropping in a 'meta mech' I set myself up for success, but it takes a LOT more than JUST a 'meta-mech' to consistently be successful in CW.

It takes situational awareness of what the enemy team is doing.
It takes situational awareness of what the other members of my team is doing.
It takes coordination with teammates.
_________________________________________________

Anyone can win a CW match in trail mechs, with 0 situational awareness of what either the enemy or friendly teammates are doing, without coordinating at all with anyone and win a CW match....just not consistently.

A person can queue up, alone, in trial mechs and win a CW match...doesn't mean that trial mechs are viable or that the pilot who brings them didn't fark over their team in doing so.

A person can queue up alone and be 100% oblivious to everything going on around them and win a CW match....doesn't mean that having/not having situational awareness is not a HUGE part of success/failure in CW.

A person can queue up WALK AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER and "win" the CW match...doesn't mean they contributed to that victory.

Ya, except I can take non-meta mechs and still win every CW game I play. "Meta" helps but the reason units like [-MS-], [228], [KCom], etc win consistently IS NOT because they take 'meta' to drops....they win consistently because the most OP thing in the game is...TEAMWORK.

A TEAM in all trial mechs who knows how to move together, knows how to present together, knows how to focus fire together will DOMINATE a 12 man driving 'meta-mechs' who DON'T, 100% of the time.

The thing I don't want to risk losing....that gives me nightmares....PGI finds a way to keep me from dropping with my friends. This happens and it's game over.

Add 'It takes an effective build*' and you have the 4 core principles of CW. Posted Image

*I use effective as a departure from 'meta' purely based on the reason that a player may drop a non-meta mech that they excel in & provides a tangible contribution to the outcome of the game - taking into consideration that what is 'effective' in pugs/group matches might not be 'effective in cw and visa versa.

I read this whole thread in one sitting.

If someone asked me to describe it? "Flowers for Algernon" meets "Groundhog Day"

Come to think of, we are the part of this community as we are posting on this very same forum. Some irony and self-criticism. :)

Whilst I have no issue with requiring 4 owned mechs to queue, the idea that I have to group with 11 manchildren to play a game variant with more depth than quickmatch can go and take a running jump.

I've dropped with clans who can barely breach 800. The idea that I'm now forced into the solo queue because "it should only be for groups of people who are equally bad" is pretty offensive.

I've been waiting for a decent clan warfare mode since 90 days after beta (you know, when it was originally promised). In moments of weakness, I've even donated some money (I don't really feel like I've bought anything of worth) - the idea of banning individual players from CW seems like a good way to lose the whales that play.

It's also a **** move, but I'm pretty sure the business director is more concerned about monetisation strategy than how people feel. After all, unless the game makes money, the servers will not stay on.

lol Well, first off the OP obviously doesn't understand the definition of "community". Beyond that outside of a single event I've always dropped solo and regularly, along with many other solo players, do better than most group members. And maybe we could dial back the hyperbole from 32 to 11. The only time I've ever seen anyone get anywhere near 100dmg from 4 mechs is when they DC'd...

Sorrry but PGI never said CW was going to only be for 12 mans. However I do agree that PGI could do something more to promote joining a group.

No one should be banned from CW. Especially not by PGI.

However, coordination is important in the mode where coordination is important.

It's pretty straight forward. You don't need to queue up with 11 man children. You can find 11 decent people to play with. You can find 1 other decent person to play with. What really matters is that the team over all works together, and positions properly.

However, I will also emphasize that we need some kind of gating system. 4 full elite mechs, or some number of matches requirement is necessary. People who are doing their first 25 matches and jump into CW may not enjoy it, or being brutalized, that much.

'Solo' is an illusion, 24 locked in 12 vs 12 combat is reality.

Let go the delusion that you have ever been 'alone'... realize that much like the 'spoon' - "There is no Solo".... then join us as we give suggestions to PGI on how they can help others make this same realization as part of the 'In-Game" experience.

Hopefully sooner...
[snark] I don't know, like BEFORE they queue for CW [/snark]

...rather than latter !!!
[snark] I don't know, like AFTER they get their skulls crushed so hard that they find the MWO forms and write posts to complain about their horrible gaming experience...or worse yet UNINSTALL the game forever [/snark]
_______________________________________________________
Help us give PGI suggestions on how to make sure that players have the most basic understanding how to work with the 11 other people on your team, AS a team. Things like...

...Provide "In-game" tutorial that teaches the power of Focus Fire (not to be confused with Friendly Fire).
...Provide "In-game" tutorial that teaches Teamwork via Battlefield Voice Communications "best practices" (as an example: "How to find a called target").
_______________________________________________________
Help us suggest tools that make finding 11 other players you enjoy playing with easier.
Help us suggest tools that make finding a unit you enjoy playing with easier.
Help us suggest tools that make coordinating the efforts of the units and individual players that make up a House/Clan easier.

If we give them really good suggestions these things won't just be 'easier', they will be 'enjoyable'...dare I say 'FUN'.

[snark] You know, GET WITH THE PROGRAM [/snark]

YOU CAN DO IT !!! (It is easy if you try)
WE - CAN DO IT TOGETHER !!! (see, we are working as a team already)

Never had the illusion that I've been alone as even random team mates are able to communicate and work together. And "solo" is the correct word considering the context of the conversation.

I'm all for suggestions for improving CW and new players experience. A hyperbole laden rant that only full groups should get to play is not one of them.

I really wish you would stop deliberately ignoring the way *everyone else* uses the word 'solo'. It's been explained to you several times, and we're not going to stop using it as an antonym for 'in a group', because that's all it actually means here.

You can want it to mean something different all you like, but if wishes were horses we'd all be eating steak.

There are 'solo' players who identify themselves as 'solo' players, then there are Lone Wolfs. My opinion on 'solo' players is not going to change [snark] they are garbage, steaming worthless garbage [/snark], nor does that mean I lack respect for Lone Wolfs.

If they want to identify themselves as a 'solo' player who 'drops solo' that is their choice....[snark] as long as they are not shocked when people roll their eyes at them for being delusional about the reality of the game they play, or mock them openly for their lack of understand of the English language definition of what 'solo' means. [/snark]

Guilty as charged....Putting the word 'solo' in the title is indeed click-bait.

[snark] It is an easy button to push, as 'solo' players are SUPER SENSITIVE about being called out for playing a team based game like Rambo Warriors. In true min/maxer style I go with what works...and nothing works better my friends at drawing attention to a thread then calling out said Rambo Warriors for being the 'solo' playing garbage that they are. There is no reason for a solo player to join a unit....no reason to be a part of a community of ANY kind. For that reason Community Warfare should be for communities of players, PERIOD.

Community Warfare should be an 'end game', not something that a player can jump into day 1. It should be clear that community warfare is just that....a community of players fighting against a community of players (No solo option).

FIX COMMUNITY WARFARE:

1) No trial mechs allowed...don't own 4 IS or 4 Clan mechs....farm the solo / pug group que until you do.
2) No solo players ... no unit, no que.
3) Ideally 12 vs 12 only, acceptable alternative would be groups of "hard 4", 'hard 8', or 'hard 12' (by 'hard' I mean no more / no less than 4 / 8 / 12) only.

Community Warfare is not 'fun' for a solo player, nothing PGI can ever do will make Community Warfare fun for a solo player, that is why it is called COMMUNITY Warfare not Solo Warfare.

i'm ok with this except that the faction loyalty rewards should be accessible to EVERYONE!
INCLUDING SOLO PLAYERS
btw if you make it real 12v12 you wont get much matches because there are not many players left in this game and even less units that have 12mans
also GRP'S vs SOLO players was tested a lot in other queue's where it absolutly didn't work no idea why they did the SAME MISTAKE AGAIN
i guess just stupid pgi things
