Also, the RTM has worked fine with all the steam games I've thrown at it.

Win 8 was highly optimized over 7, despite it's ******-as-hell visual design. Win 10 is somewhere in the middle, with better performance than 7, but much, much better UI than 8 (in my opinion)

That said, I don't think Windows 10 will end up changing so much that it renders everything incompatible. Though I'm very skeptical of letting go of 'my' Windows 7. After what Microsoft did with Window 8 (the lack of 's' was intentional), I'm not updating until after having a chance to see what all nonsense they did or didn't do this time around.

So far I've had no real issues with 10, although I haven't messed with the most recent release build yet. I guess I've been too busy getting rid of old 2003 servers before they stop getting updates in July.

Well, it's free to any fool who ended up with Window 8 or to anyone who clung to Windows 7 - and it's a higher number.
It's also got a start-looking button that opens up that metrosexual interface thing that they were all on about a few years ago (soon to be replaced with compulsory ****-UI at the rate things are going).
So it may not be a -bad- deal.
Although I am entering into it skeptical. Window 8 was a disaster and an insult - so I'm not exactly jumping for joy over 10.
7 was good, though. Hopefully, enough idiots were fired over 8 and they got something sensible going on with 10.
Otherwise, my next OS is going to be a linux build of some sort.

Not to mention it is a nightmare to try and image. If you image it and attempt to deploy it on a group of PCs, you're SOL. It won't take any license key you throw at it. You're better off just staying with 8 to tell the truth.
I pray that 10's release will be more reasonable. I'd really love for HP to ship my company some OEM disks so I don't need to go through an upgrade process on existing PCs.

It's really a question of how long you want to keep your PC. Windows 7 is only on track to get updates until 2020. After that, you'll be running a highly insecure OS. Windows 10 will get updates until 2026.
That point alone make it a no-duh decision to upgrade for free any Windows 7 and 8 PC to 10.
