The economics of supporting CW right now isn't very encouraging. They originally plan to have 12 maps, one for each slice of the planet, but after five they stopped and concentrated revising the older public maps instead like Forest and River City. For good reason. Its better to support what 87% of your main player base is playing at, instead of the 13%. Increasing the size of your main player base, and there will be some trickle effect on CW. Right now, I won't devote 85% of my development resources for that 13%, I would put it for the 87%.

Don't be silly. The already gave the timeline. We're going to have a more complex cw with dropship ownership and meaningful ownership of territory coming out with 90 days of MW:O going open beta. So around January of 2013.

given that... seriously, what are your expectations? Shut up and buy a mech bundle.

you mungrel, I had to log in to give you a like for that =)

I'm not sure what is involved in "Phase 3" but if it includes a drop in and play option that removes the ridiculous waiting times, therefore increasing the amount of players actually using the game mode, then maybe I'll play CW again.

I know it involved a 4vs4 scouting gamemode. They already made one major design change to its role...was originally supposed to open up other planets for attack, now it's controlling real-time in-game assets like artillery.

Since you appear to be floating around on the forums, any chance of this happening Russ?

To be honest "some" news about the development of Community Warfare would have be encouraging but I guess we'll just have to wait. A little deflated but I'll remain optimistic, back to the grind I go.

I dont mind waiting for something good .It seams when we do these "long waits" its because nothing has been done and when they do something its rushed out, thus disappointing.

My prediction for the 4v4 scouting (if limited to 55t and below): Clan streaks will be unstoppable. How is the IS supposed to compete?

They should just avoid the flames/pitchforks and implement 1/1/1/1

:(

Thanks for the October Roadmap....... but still no mention of Community Warfare?

My only hope is that the re-work is truly awesome. If I was able to ask Russ or Paul one question at this stage it would be "Why was the main focus of the game applied to the solo/group queue where the only benefit of the matches was the gathering of CBills and XP? Rather than having the main focus applied to the living, breathing and fully immersive world of the Inner Sphere Successor Wars and Clan invasion?"

There is so much potential in the Lore of the Battletech universe to accomodate a variety of roles and gameplay that until now has been untouched. I have said it before and will again, if it were possible to accomplish from a programming side, the full MechWarrior Online should revolve around the Community / Faction Warfare component. I outlined how I thought it could work in a thread started by Mystere and would repost it here but do not have access to it at present. It accomodated Lone Wolves, small Unit players, Mercenaries and House Loyalists; with each being able to gain CBills, XP and LP in every match and with different levels of involvement in the greater conflict of the Inner Sphere map.

But I guess I will just have to wait and see.

I have absolutely no idea whatsoever how or why people expect that phase 3 will be different from phases 1 or 2 beyond another map reset

I have no idea how or why people think it's ok to just accept that.

I do not "expect" anything, I "hope" that Phase 3 "may" have a change in layout/content (actually having content would be an improvement) and give us reason to want to play it. I do not "expect" an answer or even post directed at me or even in this thread, even though Pauls was greatly appreciated.

I do "hope" that Russ, Paul or anyone from PGI reads this thread and realises that there those of us out here that truly want their game to succeed and in the main support the direction it has taken. I still hope that what I feel should be the main reason for playing the game can develop to fulfill the potential it has to be a great, fun and immersive feature.

NBT killed CW.

It should be telling that only 8 total topics have been updated today in the Community Warfare subforum... and this was most recent at 3 hours ago.

(this is the prime time for North America..)

LMAO ^^^ NBT has not killed CW.

CW had a low population well before NBT started.

Just my observations:

NBT is private lobby (no c-bill earnings) and Clan win rate in NBT is ridiculously high vs the IS. I can only imagine its a matter of time before the IS teams outright stop playing NBT altogether.

Player population will pick up some in CW once BETA3 rolls out. Just to name a few changes coming.

4v4 scouting
Team leaderboards
The ability to use unit coffers on planet defenses/hire mercs
Voting system on attack lanes
New loyalty system

Just as I am observing that community warfare forums are seeing very, very little action. (And what they are seeing is "unit recruitment," which went on before CW.. and some troll threads.

Honestly, I think that will wear off in in less than a week. (Still no real incentive to take and hold planets.)

Getting more people to play CW is the first step that must be taken. There are some good ideas around but most of them would require a solution that will take time to develop, ie impossible to get. How about some simple fixes? Multiply CW rewards by 1.5 to compensate for all the waiting, give better rewards for CW rank progression. Not the end-all-be-all but as a first step this is very important.

Things are going to get much slower for CW since most of the player base isn't there.

And likely never will be with the damage done.

They (PGI) have a year or two before that happens but I don't think this is one of those either/or for choosing between them, I expect a lot of people will play both. You never know the persistent "campaign" in Battletech may throw design and development progress back into MWO.

If/when Phase 3 does rollout and it's good enough I believe more people will play it if it's worth playing. The 2 different queues really kill this game imho. Just have CW as so many have said but could do quick battle.
