Why Does Pgi Abandon Mechs

Not all mechs can be equal, but there should be something each can bring to the game, in pug matches at least

Not any one mech will be THAT mech, and any MW game is a team game, your drop dec should cover the needs of a given missions task. There can be no uber mech, you have to pilot one that you have the most fun in that also fills the needs of the team.

But we don't need to go back to the poptart days. Those were...not fun.
i read on metamechs that victors have some kind of jj semi-glitch with animation which allows them to avoid a lot of damage doing little hops, not sure if it's true...

In all seriousness I'm pretty tired of them saying they have this huge rebalance coming while at the same time telling us nothing and leaving mechs in a terrible state.

2. Because of this, it was classified as top tier internally and didn't receive any meaningful quirks and was nerfed in other areas
3. PGI is never quick in doing ANYTHING
And they have extremely little incentive unless they start introducing new paid varients in their P4I model with double the hardpoints so it can compete against new clan assaults. I don't forsee that happening any time soon.
The best that mech can hope for is a 'requirkening' where she gets buffed pretty solid again into relevancy. My "Baby Regicide pines for the day of coming back and being able to jump snipe with the best of them and run like a medium!

If the new stuff was not as good or was only as good as the old stuff a large part of the buyers ( who are not only nostalgia stricken but also competitive ) would not buy it, at least not as a pre purchase ( not with $ but cbills ) so what is strange that the oldys aren't as attractive as the new shiny?
Hopefully the next big quirk pass will balance to the universe better than anikan skywalker did X) .

On a serious note I wonder how long queues should be before they decide to revisit their business plan...

Nah, they said that there will be PTS runs to test the changes before they get in the main server, in like a month or two.
They said the "Super Rebalance" was supposed to be on PTS before the end of last month.
We got diddly squat.
It's already halfway through this month and we've again heard jack diddly.
I'm inclined to agree with some of the people who've said that PGI hasn't said anything because they're still trying to figure out what the hell the end goal of the rebalance is.
I don't expect to hear anything about it until probably around the end of next month. And even then I still don't think we'll hear anything.

Also theres the fact PGIs idea of fixing ECM is to reduce its range from 180m to 90m while completely ignoring all the core problems of ECM. If thats indicative of the other balance changes going through you really cant expect a whole lot... lol
Quite frankly PGI doing a super rebalance has me more worried about the games future than relieved. If all theyre gonna do is keep slapping bandaid after bandaid over a festering wound like ECM then nothing is really going to change. I'd much rather see a complete rework of sensor warfare from the ground-up than PGI trying to fix a broken version of ECM thats been overpowered as hell since the day it was added.

look at the highlander, it received so many damn quirks but still performs average at best.
due to hardpoint inflation on many mechs (especially energy) and the full customization,
mechs that totally rely on mixed weapon loadouts will never have a chance to play a role in meta until PGI decideds to roll inflation and customization back by ALOT.
if it cant boat it cant work well in this game. sad but true.
and thats why im very sad about the current state.
P.S: i love my victor. no range, no camping, no hiding.
just full in your face action. we need more of that in MWO. range domination needs to go.
And the only way to destroy boating is to de-incentivize boating or reduce it's functionality or make it illegal. That will by itself decrease customization.
What would do a lot would be bonus XP or cash for stock builds, taking a little away from each change. There a disincentive. Or you penalize for using all the same weapon type. (personally I prefer missing out on rewards to taxing/penalizing)
I really don't see them going back and cutting the hardpoints. The best we may get is a re-quirkening.

It's hard to say, because they don't tell us anything. I wonder if Paul spends so much of his time gathering data and analysing it that he effectively doesn't have time to look at more than one thing at a time. For the past few months, I guess he's been working on the new rebalance which will apparently change everything forever. Instead of trying out the feedback they've consistently been getting from the fans for years on a test server, they'd rather do things their own way. We'll see how it turns out this time.
Test Server.....that's what we call it, but i bet in the PGI offices they refer to it as the Pest Server, because as you say they don't seem to take anything from it.

i really like these ideas.

I dunno. They have a bit of a record for testing things on the PTR and then just releasing it regardless of feedback. But they did say they would scrap it if it didn't actually improve things.
