3. Enforcer
Sure, I can make them work and even get good result in them. But their reliant on ballistic and lack of tonnage hamper my trigger-happy-ness.

The 4R would like a word. I have two and neither has a ballistic.

My answers:

Look, so, here's the thing...GTGFST!

Loved, no particular order: Jenner, Arctic Cheetah, Cicada, Firestarter and Blackjack. Stormcrow and Locust are so, so close, but five was the number.

Hated: Grasshopper, Victor, Mad Dog, Dragon. Every other chassis I've driven (and I have driven them all), I have some affection for.

I abandon the AC10 on the 4R too, and run with 3x ML and 2x LL.
It works, but I also have Trebuchet running a similar loadout.

Well, so do I, but the Enforcer's hitboxes and mounts are far superior.

Sure! Sounds lke fun!

Love these:

1. TimberWolf - Versatile, adaptive, covers most of roles, beautifull. Good laser vomit, also fun to play with combination of Lerms, JJ, and ER Meds. 75t JJ capable heavy. As a heavy mech w**** i couldnt ask for anything else.

2. Warhawk - ERPPPC quirks makes the quad ERPPC build viable, deadly, and by me most enjoyable setup. Massive long range (usefull at covering also both mid range and short range with proper heat management), fast (71km/h for assault is solid). Lower mounted arms harpoints makes it unreliable in comp play comparing to DireWolf, but still fun to play. Just drop the useless LRM 10 launcher, simple Lerm tubes are waste of tonnage.

3. Stormcrow - Nice design, good laser vomit capabilities, fast. My goto mech when wanting to play mediums.

4. Ebon Jag - Its got written high mounted weaponry all over it. 'Nuff said.

5. Shadowhawk - The 2K variant with either 3x isERLL or even 3x is ML + 3x isSRM 6 + artem, makes it still one of the most enjoyable IS mechs i like to run from time to time.

Hate these:

1. Summoner - No matter how hard i tried, the mech is just not cutting it. Its twice as much dissapointment chassis, because Summoner used to be my most favourite Clan Omni in previous BT PC franchise. I think its way too restricted to its locked equip, and that is just not enough for it to be viable in MWO comparing to other (C/IS) heavies. Bad heavy weapon platform (due to increased TTK you cant mount enough ammo for heavy weapons - no matter how much you try to abide its low armor values) mediocre Streak boat, 5x SSRM 6 is perhaps the best way to do it. Shame, its got badass model.

2. Cataphract - Used to be my favourite mech back before clan invasion. Now its only but a shadow of its former glory. Weak additional structure quirks, makes it too fragile, i often end up without armor in matter of seconds and without any awareness of the cause.

3. Atlas - I remember the days of old, when this 100t piece of machinery was something you never hoped to encounter. Its comp days seems to be gone, and seems like there no further reason to take it into battlefield, without having strong loyalty to the chassis, and playing mainly for fun, with no regret of loosing, or dying soon.

4. Direwolf - Two edged blade, looks are cool, and the ammount of Firepower is overwhelming. but at the same time i feel it comes greatly with price. Slow, big, not capable of twisting its torso by 90°. At the same time, it can be way too of an easy mode, esp when playing against unskilled and/or uncoordinated pugs/groups. While doing 1000+ damage in it has always been quite easy, hate the mech in general.

5. Shadowcat - Sad as it is, i feel the mech is from bad to very mediocre. While i admit i died plenty of times to my lack of heat management in that specific mech, i feel the mech itself turned out to be (for me that is) quite dissapointment, due to its lack of free tonnage thanks to even more locker equip. (Summoner's case)

6. Stalker - Extra number deserved this. Ugly, yet resiliant as f*** when fighting head on. Along its laser quirks it always manages to outperform my Long range clan heavy snipers, when fighting one on one. Its got thick CT, and side torson which are pain in ass to try focus on when figting the mech head on. Not as hard to hit from site though. Really hate the mech, always did.

Chose from all the mechs i own and played, as i refuse to judge the mechs i never played (except for Stalker). Due to me playing this game 2-3 years before clan invasion even took place, i have grown bored of playing IS tech, so you wont see me much in those.

Great thread.

Loves
Spider. Love it so f***ing much. Like when I'm piloting it, Sting is singing "every little thing she does is magic."

Spider one more time.

Timberwolf. It's like being the apex predator. A jaguar and an eagle had a baby, and it's beautiful and can carry any loadout.

Cicada. A satisfying sweet spot of speed and firepower. Like a bigger species of jenner, and with great quirks. And sexier. That's right I said it.

Blackjack. Cool looking. High weapons. The ac20/10 build on the bj-1. Woof. One of the most fun mechs in the game. Even the ac2 build is damn fun.

Dislikes
Enforcer. Haven't made it work. Each time I'm in it I wonder, why am I not in a BJ?

I'm surprised how many Vindicators I am seeing in the "liked" category (mostly 1AA). It is in mine too, but I just didn't think others thought that strongly positive about them.

Yep. It seems to be a cult favorite. I even like the 1X as the 'ultimate harrasser' medium. I know precisely what it's for though: to harrass and worry targets like a small terrier on a great dane. You don't dare engage directly, and I use it with a cheese single LRM10 which has come in surprisingly effective with the PPC.

Favorites:
Shadowcat: Quick, mobile, fits my playstyle of hit and run combined with the ability of getting out of tight jams via its incredible jumping ability.

Grasshopper: Mobile, great hitboxes, able to bring the wub effectively.

Cauldron Born: Great hit boxes, tanky, great combo of ballistics and lasers, fun brawl mech.

Wolverine: Mobile, brings a good amount of fire power, decent at brawling for a medium.

Hunchback: A workhorse at 50 tons, decent ballistic firepower.

Dislikes

Firestarters: broken hitboxes make this mech far better than it should be

Battlemaster: Slow, CT is huge.

Orion: large hitboxes and a mediocre mix of firepower

Raven: wonky hit boxes, downright annoying.

Loved:

1- Hunchbacks. My very first mech, the 4P. back in the era, i did run 9SML XL300 on that at some point. but i also really love the other variants too. 4G and the almighty AC20, 4J, 4SP... and there were no RT quirks so later on was pretty much surpassed by cents and kintaros.
2- Dragon. my first real heavy love. the chassis is so good looking and i was quite happy with the gauss + 4ML build.
3- Awesome 8Q 9M and 8R. i like em in many ways, specially the 9M... i was crazy enough to put an XL380 in it and used to intercept mediums, 8Q with 4PPC and 3ML, 8R with 4SRM6 + MLs. CT is a bullet magnet.
4- Catapults. A1 and K2. back in the days, A1 6SRM6 or 6LRM5. K2 with 2UAC54ML, 2AC104ML or 2AC20. the CT is a bullet magnet.
5- Ryoken. i abused that chassis in MW4 mercs Solaris arena really a lot. always respected it, translated in MWO as a powerful medium.

Hated ones:

1- Atlas. always ran AC20 + SRMs or MLs brawlers, even a good old performing quad LPL RS variant. the D-DC been my brawler of choice with the classic AC20+3SRM6, but also lovely with 2UAC5 2PPC. but i always hated his giant and easy to hit geometry. the stalker was way tankier and slightly more agile. and i always ran 340+ engines on every atlas, still sluggish
2- Jenners. really squishy, had some, never really loved one but the funny sweepstriker splatjenner Oxide.
3- Spiders. broken hitboxes arent enough when you seriously lack firepower.
4- Cents. again, havent figured out good builds. but the YLW, fast, with the AC20 stopping power, is the exception.
5- Kitfox. i dont like it. it's ugly, slow, i dont really like it.

Spiders were never meant to have 5 pulse lasers. They are as someone put it an "annoying pest". If they are piloted correctly can get 4 enemy mechs to chase after it while your teammates have an easier time with 8 people. They are the spotters for the LURM APOCALYPSE. Mostly, just to make people mad when piloted right. If you can make 3 people rage quit when piloting as a spider you have done a good job.

Hmm heres mine! :D

1. Awesome; First I started out with the 8Q.. and admittedly I fell in love. Being able to sling 3 PPCs at will back in the day was very fun. Even now I still enjoy it, In fact I bought the PB. Never once did I regret it after I learned whats the best way to make it happy.

2. BlackJack; Such a fun little mech! I started getting into them before they where quirked, they always seemed really useful to me. And I loved there lore.

3. Hunchback! As a founder, I picked the hunchy.. and Ive been in love, literally is the definition of "Comfy". I feel at home and the mech is responsive to my controls.

4. Cicada: Its so adorable to look at! Sure it might be a bit big, but honestly I love using it, and the dynamic hardpoints made it even more adorable! It gets a PPC on top of it! thats like seeing a dog with a paper towel roll between its ears.

5. Adder; So many people hate on this little guy, But personally ive found it to be a thrill. Just use the PPCs (Try to find a way to fit in more heatsinks if you must) and use it to get into strange spots and snipe, back off to cool down or re-position and bam there ya go!

As for hated..

1. Stormcrows: Dont see the appeal of them really. I dont enjoy fighting them and I really dont like how the they revolve around "Laser vomit"

2. Madcat/timberwolf: Same thing as the crow really. I never grew up with BT in my childhood- infact I came around way later and didnt know a thing about BT or mechwarrior until I palyed mechassult (And MWLL). Maybe Id hate it less if I saw it being used for more other then ugly laser vomit. Who knows?!

3. Firestarter; just so annoying to be around and fight.

4. Direwhales: Love to shoot these guys or tag them. A massive walking power house and as such has every reason to be erased as quickly as possible

5. Kintaro: I really dislike the quirks on this mech, kinda feel itd be better off as a general missile boat instead of just "SRM 4 quirks or LRM 5 quirks" like seriously guys, this is silly- why limit the mech to one weapon system like that

If I could put a 6th for likes id be the urbie.. and 6th for hated is the well.. victor  .

Top 5

5. Timberwolf: You know it you love it. Speed, armor and firepower in one finely tuned package. It only has 1 downside: I's too good. Everyone and their mother is playing a Timberwolf, and it has killed the wait time for heavies.

4. Atlas: The sneaky giant. For the longest time, the DDC was the only mech above 40 tons that had ECM. There are few things more satisfying than sneaking up on an enemy, killing 3 of them in 10 seconds and sending the rest of their team scampering away like cockroaches. A lot harder to pull off now due to the dakka power creep brought in by the Dire Wolf and the King Crab, but is still satisfying when you do.

3. Blackjack: The underappreciated medium. It has very good mobility and its variants allow for very different playstyles. Flying AC20? BJ-1. Laser boating? BJ-1X. PPCs? BJ-3. Only the Timberwolf has more versatility. The high-mounted hardpoints are not bad either.

2. Raven: The sneaky narcing ninja. I love it because it plays so differently from all the other mechs when it's used as a pure scout. CSB: I once got 135k cbills (no premium) in one match when I did zero damage. Pacifist run FTW.

1. Jenner: The first mech I truly fell in love with. The Raven may have ECM and the Firestarter more firepower, but neither of them moves like a Jenner. Great speed, jumpjets and absolutely wonderful torso twist. If you want to dance with death in style, you do it in a Jenner.

Bottom 5:

5. Centurion: Some people swear by the Centurion. I swear AT the Centurion. Extremely ammo limited, no jumpjets and wide for a medium, I just couldn't get Centurions to work. Griffins are a better SRM boat, and Blackjacks make a more interesting AC20 boat. It still annoys me that I can't sell the loyalty Centurion. I want that mechbay dammit!

4. Battlemaster: Looks like a brick, moves like a brick, fights like a brick. Some people swear by its torso-mounted energy weapons, but I've never been able to pull it off. Only kept 1 variant as a LRM boat, and I only use that for 1 purpose: Boreal Vault defense.

3. Highlander: You'd think that a 90 ton assault mech with jumpjets would be awesome, but you'd be wrong. Slow, and with jumpjets that don't, it also loses 80% of its firepower if you shoot off its right torso (unless you missile boat). That I wasted my cadet bonus buying it way back when only makes it worse.

2. Cataphract: The mech that was left behind. Though it looks like the aliens from the Fifth Element (the mysterious ones, not the talking dogs) and has terrible low slung arms, it used to do well in the PPC-AC meta. Alas it is now consigned to the dustbin of history. The only reason I still keep one is because I paid real world money for it (the Ilya).

1. Nova: The walking toaster oven. It looked so good on paper. 12 energy hardpoints! 84 damage alpha on a medium! Unfortunately reality bites and it bites hard. Not enough tonnage to cram enough heatsinks to laserboat, lowslung arms and the fact that its slow for a medium makes for a lot of disappointment. The fact that the Stormcrow or even the Arctic Cheetah can laserboat better just adds insult to injury.

Top 5 Liked:
1. Zeus. All of 'em. So sexy, so awesome.
2. urbie. 'nuff said
3. Enforcer. Tanky medium. I likes it.
4.Black Jacks. Great CW 'mech. super fun to pilot.
5. Panther 10p. A light running 97kph with an ac/2 arm? Most fun thing EVAR.

Top 5 hated:
1. Streak crows. again, 'nuff said
2. Firestarters. Boring 'mechs. Can't stand 'em
3. Arctic Cheetahs. I almost never see them, but that's cause they're behind me coring me out while I shoot something bigger,
4. Thunderbolts. Quirks be damned; those are just too ugly to pilot.
5. Catapults. Iconic 'mech, but I hate LRMs and that ginormous body is such a bullet magnet I have no idea how anyone jumps in one and doesn't write a will first.

Love:

1) Atlas- The AS7-D(F) is still the best looking mech in the game. Every time I kill a Dire Wolf, King Crab or Banshee I do a little fist pump in my heart for keeping it old school, which is it's own reward.

2) Zeus- Looks totally badass. The perks and small size make it a nimble pocket Assault that can use an XL without sacrificing too much survivability, which I love.

3) Nova- The first mech I ever played, at a friends house when I was 5. In my opinion it's still the best looking Clan medium mech. It might have some serious disadvantages in MWO, but I still enjoy taking it out.

4) Panther- Fun light that can handle mid-range fighting, rather than the very short or very long range that lights are more often pushed into. The frowny face also gets me every time.

5) Summoner- Best looking Wave 1 Clan mech. Performs pretty well even if it's not as good as the Timberwolf.

Hate:

1) Atlas- Most disappointing mech in the game. It looks so cool, but the performance leaves so much to be desired. When it gets into its sweet spot, it's really fun, but most of the time I just get caught out or left behind and stuck wishing I was in my Zeus.

Truthfully it really just sits in my hangar because I'd rather look at it and think good things about it than take it into a match and risk disappointment. No matter how much I want it to be as good as the King Crab, it won't be.

2) Victor- If the Victor were the size of the Zeus, it would be good. Most of the time they seem to just be free kills, and it feels like that when I pilot them too.

3) Timberwolf- Have been sick of this mech for a long time. I think other Clan heavies like the Hellbringer and Summoner look better but get overshadowed because they weren't on box art.

4) Centurion- I just see no appeal to this mech. It doesn't really look like the TRO art and it's the original overscaled medium.

5) Cicada- Physically twice the light mech you'll ever be.
