Ripping out a few lasers for more heatsinks was more effective there, and it's more effective here in MWO for the same reasons. Spending weight on more guns than your heatsinks can maintain is wasteful because you're pretty much carrying dead weight all the time...the Warhawk Prime is in a similar position, but not as bad.

I can shoot 8 ERPPC's from my WHK Prime once you remove the BS SRM's and such.....just go for 4x ERPPC and tons of DHS, the Nova is the same way. Listen to Fup...he has all the answers today!
That many lasers with Poor Dubs is even worse....

Most ERML that you want to stick to is 6, and you'll struggle to fire those even after adding the additional 6 DHS from stripping the prime down.
I find a combination of smalls and meds to work best, that or just go for ERPPC.

If you want a little more versatility, try something like 4x medium lasers and 5x small lasers. With 23 double heatsinks left over, you're nearly heat-neutral with only the 5 small lasers for brawling situations.

Something like this works well, just watch out for ghosts.

The 2x ERPPC poptart is a gimmick, and the quirks don't make up for the amount of heat sinks you can't fit due to having standard armor/structure.
Personally I run with 12 ERSL with range/cooldown modules because it lets me fill all that excess space with heat sinks. Just hope you don't get tourmaline or alpine. But when it works, it feels so, so good.

Removing 4 of them, adding 2 more heat sinks and a targeting computer makes it far more workable. You'll have a little overburn when you move and shoot with everything, and you can keep that up for a few rounds. Since the Nova doesn't have any ammo and jumps fairly well, you can afford to ride the heat scale a little bit. You'll just get some mild movement and shooting penalties if you don't ride it too far (the TC can help offset that), and you can jump to a safe location to cool off if needed.

In MWO, dropping 4 or 6 lasers and adding more heat sinks is pretty much your best option. I've done okay with an 8 CERMLAS Nova. 6 with a TC and extra heat sinks is good too.
I have my best Nova KDR in the S variant (6 lasers and 4 MGs).
