Like any other similar F2P and not F2P Arena game, skill tier should be 100% public and displayed in-game clearly. Go further with stats too if possible.

Having public rankings is what keeps many people playing games like Starcraft 2, LoL, DOTA 2 and etc. Call it e-peen if you want, it's fun to have goals to achieve. As in having a clear and defined way to know you're improving and be able to display that. From a pure business perspective, it's great for player retention.

Ideally there'd be a ranked and unranked mode too to appease the non-tryhards, but I understand that it can be a population issue. Ranked and Unranked queues would be great for Steam release though.

Still think that showing the TIER will result in farming because many ppl want to reach the top tier, no matter if it matches or not.

If you read the response to the PSR closely you could read that 98% think that PSR is some kind of achievment and not some kind of balance tool.

trying to keep up with WoT I see.....

Stats always bring out the worst in everything... I vote keep it hidden.

Let the player see their OWN PSR and not others.

Yes, what, adding in features that almost all successful games of this nature have is somehow a bad thing?

I'm not a "high tier" in Starcraft 2 at all. I was Platinum, now I dropped all the way to Silver. I'm not embarrassed about having a low tier in Starcraft. I use it as motivation. The reason I play that game is the fun I get in getting better, in getting closer and closer to Gold, then Platinum, then Diamond, and so on. If it weren't for the prospect of being able to rank up and being able to see and feel good about leveling and ranking up, then I really doubt I'd like 1v1 ranked Starcraft 2 all that much.

Would my opinions on a Starcraft 2 forum about build orders and etc. be worth less than a higher ranked player? Yes! Of course! They should be! I don't want people to consider advice from me in a game where I'm not very good as equal to that from some pro Starcraft player. How is that a bad thing for a community?

At the same time, my opinions as a lower skill player about things such as player experience at low tiers, about fun factor, about custom maps, about matchmaking and etc. aren't affected by my skill level.

All this applies to World of Tanks, DOTA 2, LoL, any other MOBA, Halo, Counterstrike, any other multiplayer shooter, Hearthstone, fighting games, MMO PVP, and etc. etc. etc.

Nope for me.

That's my honest thought. I had e-peen checking with Starcraft 2, and it did nothing for my experience. I don't feel it lacking in Mech Warrior.

I would bet it is mostly people thinking they are in T1 or T2 that want to see everyone's Tier. I personally don't care if mine is bad and ppl talk trash to me, but some people do. I will never back something that is only likely to lead to more bullying of people. I vote opt in, if people want to show it cool, if not don't force them. It is hard for some to understand, but some people actually just play the ******* game for fun.

Full Disclosure:
As many stated, some People bash and make "the sh*tty Team" responsible for their loss. More often than not, those people tend to have also a bad performance with this round. Maybe it will get people to be more cautious about dishing out blame when they are only mediocre players themselves and everybody can see it.

I expect to be tier upper tier 4, lower tier 3, and i really don't care for anybody to see it. I still can play as i play. And if somebody wants to shittalk me, because he is a higher tier, well, thats his problem.

You aren't surprised that some people in this community feel that way are you?

Most of them think the only thing that separates them from good players is taking "easy mode" competitive mechs, and that those people should be chastised for taking the best mech that they can.

I do agree though, it is motivation to get better when stats are public, because like you say, it is great to set goals. If you are in Tier 3 and set out to get into Tier 2, you will likely become a better player, not to mention it motivates you to play instead of just grind.

I think PGI needs to reword the options. There's an obvious bias in the way this poll is worded.

One thing though. I play really well with some mechs, and not so well with others. The tier system should be per chassis...

If not per chassis then per weight class at the very least.

Light Mechs are going to have completely different match scores than an Assault mech.

I played League fairly religiously for years and never really got into the ranked solo queue. I played constantly with a group of friends that were mostly gold, a couple plats, the odd diamond and with a smattering of silvers and I stuck myself mentally somewhere in the lower end of middle of the pack and was happy with that. Meant I got to avoid the toxicity of solo queue while enjoying the game with friends via TS and Skype.

Considering the incredible amount of damage that Gearscore did to WoW, I am going with opt-in. There is more to a player than raw numbers in any game. I'd take a lower-skilled player that can listen and be a team-member any day, instead of a highly rated jerk that can't listen.
