I can hardly see any good in this.

I can prove that ideia will drive this game to ruin very quickly.

I'll give one real example of an existing game with that: World of tanks online.

Theres a mod you install in the game wich show players K/D and their Win rattings.

The result of this is people driving their tanks to suicide in the very beginning of the game because they ''realize'' the team have too low skills to even waste time.

Thats exactly what will happens here when people see the team tier and skills.

Actually this already happens when you are in CW and a premade enemy team is against you and in your side is all pugs ( Including people with trial mechs ).

Then, what people do? They disconnect and go do other stuff instead of stay and try.

4 less mechs to the team and sometimes its 8, even more.

I once fought in one team without 3 players since the beginning against a premade.

So, the best answer to this idea is NO! Or atleast Optional.

The same players you say that would suicide into a team because the have all the gud players are the same players that would suicide uselessly into the enemy team regardlles..

i recently (pre-patch, solo queue conquest) was in a game where enemy had plenty of tags and we had very few, we had to calm down pugs who thought they already lost... disregard 2 pugs afked... we still almost won 10 vs 12, it was 1v1 at the end, their cored nova hid from our dire wolf till their cap reached 750 (with skirmish it would be tie or win)

now imagine how much people would afk seeing tier disadvantage when even useless tags on poor players scare pugs so much

while it would be interesting to see how this would pan out, ultimately it may not be a wise decision either.

the problem I would expect to see that pops up the most is discrimination, I'm with what the pug says up top.

having a certain tier to join most competitive clans, and overall trash talk and bullying will be an issue, that much is certain.
My humble opinion along with giving considerable thought, take this with a grain of salt.

How about the PSR display for Solo games and team games. To be able to weigh both sides. One is the team badly, the other in solo. Would be an intresting thing, since you so times a more accurate picture of each player gets

Voted for opt-in but am OK as long as my own ranking can be viewed by me.

Cunning plan is to get into the lowest rung of Tier 5. I will then wheel out ye olde lurmboat and hopefully.... just hopefully kill steal myself a Death Star achievement.

So basically if the rating is not shown, it is because that player is not very good and probably worried about ridicule. Why else would you want to hide it, really it is nothing but a tier rating not the size of your penis!!!!!

..you would be surprised how overly prideful people can be on a videogame, this one is definitely no exception. its more of a headache in that regard then you think.

I really like how Dota does it - at the end of (ranked) game you are shown everyone's MMR + their change. Would be nice to have similar here, your PSR + change due to the match's performance.

Actually I am quite OK if people want to brag about their tier. Truth is there are already players showing off by posting KDR, tournament ranking or "Carry harder" scores. One more stat wouldn't make much difference imo.

Having a high tier is also a double edged sword. I try to call out Death Stars whenever I see one in game and it's amazing how quickly they get focused down.

Full disclosure of course.

I only worry about the units - hopefully they won't kick members that are too low to their required level (and that will be shown then) but hopefully they will teach their skills to the members that are under their tier.

I love my unit and I know, that they won't do that. They know my abilities and they help me wherever they can. Every game they make with me they watch me and correct me when I do something wrong and give me tipps. And that is a communitiy and I hope we will do that in the whole mechwarrior-universe because our community is not that big.

But I will be very excited to watch my tier level and if I will be able to get better.

An Esport without being able to see tiers, really?.
OK lets see a match broadcast.....
Host.
"Well viewers, todays match is between two teams, they may be top tier, well we dont know, Team A has beaten C to get into this match but, we dont know what team C tier was, it was a stomp, could of been a low tier team, or maybe a top tier team having a bad game, who knows. Now Team B who is fighting Team A today, we dont know their tier either, but they scraped thru with a narrow win against team D,...."
Well you get the point..
You can only measure a win/loss by the standard of your opposing team, if you dont know its tier have you actually won anything?.. well does seal clubbing count?

Negaman,

You brought up a great point here!

I would love to see a "mission contract system" implemented over what we currently have. The system could be Tier-locked and would insure that the Tiers do not intermingle and make for an enjoyable game for everyone at all levels.

We probably don't have sufficient population for that but it would be nice. ;)

There is no MM in CW and i dont see that changing just because we got PSR.

No MM in CW means Tier 1 can play Tier 5 if they queue up for the same planet.

I like such rating just to know how bad i am...

But often these Ratings are just used in the forums to simply cut discusions off (... Looking to Wargaming forums...)
I hope we will be more mature.

... Hope is the keyword there. ;)

I think public tiers are a bad idea. Might as well put it in peoples badges at that point. It will be a giant epeen waving contest in the forums. I wouldn't even poll it. Mob rule is bad rule. Don't like the idea of marginalizing the opinion of low tier players even if they are often off target like anyone else.

Best to just keep it invisible and keep people guessing like before with Elo.

so I vote 4th option: keep invisible like before

So much this.

I mean if you are absolutely going to do it make it opt in, and I would expect the mods to be on top of shaming for tier in the forums. We don't need that toxicity here.

this is not world of tanks. no public stats. i like mechwarrior being a somewhat friendly multiplayer game. hell, even the forums have been generally friendly as of late.

already we see tons of jackasses waving their ******* about. we need dont this **** in MWO

if you want to stat *****, or see what stat whoring does to a community go play world of tanks. http://www.noobmeter...erverTop/eu/PR/

this proposal is the worst thing PGI could possibly do to the community. seriously , just read the comments in this very thread

i get the distinct feeling that PGI hates us and wants us to hate them. oh wait, they do

Opt in.

No need to Tier-shame pilots who are still in training.

"Rofl lol f-king noob, only tier 3 pilor shutup, you should not be able to talk in general chat like us super hard epeen warriors..."

I think a better idea would be to only display it privately except to members of the unit you are part of, that way it could be used for unit training but strangers won't see it.
