I think it should be an option. But I still fear that it will lead to a hostile environment like In League of Legends or any other game that displays ELO. THis has been a great community so far and I would hate to see it degrade because people Think they are better than others. See MY Tier.....I am better so listen to me you scrub. That attitude just leads to people getting frustrated and leaving.

Again, I don't really care one way or another. But a poll is easily influence by a bias wording. It's easy to get the results you want by careful wording. Have you ever watched Fox News ? I was pointing it out more for the sake of PGI than anyone else.

Don't single out Fox News, most news channels are biased the other way.

i realy don't care if we can see my ranking. i just hoping if they show our ranking they do it by lore. IS do something like pvt, lt,major and general. then for a clan player do point, star commander, trinary commander, and galaxy commander. as long as pgi uses BT rich lore.

I would like PSR to be further detailed. PSR per weight class and by clan or IS based on the mech your dropping with. For standard drops you may be a fiend in a clan light with a tier 2 PSR but you are dropping in the new king crap and really play like a tier 4 in IS assults. Have the PSR reflect he mech weight class and type you drop in.

CW has a different match logic so PSR is not needed for that mode.

That's very true. I used Fox News simply as an easy example. It has nothing to do with my point though.

Do not leave it open. T5 you will get trolled on forums as they typically will drop in teams thus this is worthless. T1 will have lots of venom exchanged because we have some jerks in game. This just comes from me seeing many players blame the team and not themselves for poor performance. T2-T4 is honestly where most of us will pan out and when I see you drop I know you are near my level. I say this because I doubt I will see T1 unless I grind some awful mechs again. I like the assumption that the pug group I drop with is close to my skill level. It forces me to maintain the maturity I gained through living. Thus I like me seeing me but think the environment would benefit from not seeing others. That is unless PGI loves answering why one team had more 4s and 2s when one had all 3s. You have the ability to choose to keep trolls or mature them into people.

Not really no. Games like LoL are toxic because of their population. Not because they have stats visible. In games with smaller populations I've seen nothing but positives from public stats. Is there a game out there that has went on to remove something like that? In my experience, every single game I've played have added in public stats as a feature, then went on to emphasize it with big rank-up animations, special portraits/skins, forum avatars, etc.

Any player at FUMBBL.com can see my 23% win rate.

Small gaming community for a game that was originally a board game from the 80's.

Slight forum venom but in matches where i was getting rolled, most players offered help.

Until i rolled Pro Elfs in the BlackBox. No one helps you in the Box. You and your dead players are all alone in the Box.

I'd actually like it done the same way pilots were ranked in Mechcommander. Iirc It went Green, Regular, Veteran, and Elite. That's only 4 though need one more.

Ehhh, every option is bad, if we can't see them we can't be sure if MM is actually working correctly, opt in also creates this problem. If its forced visible we get xvm-stat syndrome where teams will give up before the match starts because the teams look imbalanced and opt in also has this problem.

For these reasons I think opt-in is the worst option here, worst of both worlds.

Opt-in is the obvious choice. Default to on, but let players toggle it off if they want. Force the extra step so that only those who really care will turn it off.

I think opting in is the best option it help prevent pilots from been focused as soft targets in match. So many people are proud of where they are and should have the option to display their tier if they choose to.

I think public tiers are a bad idea. Might as well put it in peoples badges at that point. It will be a giant epeen waving contest in the forums. I wouldn't even poll it. Mob rule is bad rule. Don't like the idea of marginalizing the opinion of low tier players even if they are often off target like anyone else.

Best to just keep it invisible and keep people guessing like before with Elo.

so I vote 4th option: keep invisible like before

While I 'think' I know what tier I am in....I don't KNOW. That said I am not afraid of my information being made public. I am what I am....

...if I am tier 5 (just installed the game): Will there be people who give me sh!t....NO DOUBT ("You are nothing but a noob !"), but I know there will be people who will also be genuinely HAPPY to help me get better. It will be EASY for me to tell the difference between the two types.

...if I am tier 1 (can hang with the best of the best): Will there be people who give me sh!t....NO QUESTION ("You are nothing but a tryhard !"), but I know there will be people who will be genuinely HAPPY to have me help them get better. It will be EASY for me to tell the difference between the two types.

My biggest fear....that I find out I am already a Tier 1 player, and that knowing it will do nothing to help me find people who are willing and able to help become a better pilot.

Match stats are already displayed after the game anyway, just add a column for tier ranking.

Please do NOT show it in match! Things are already too cluttered when I grab 'Q' to try to find a called target. Thanks.

It seems to me some don't think that, and will use it to flame someone. For the record I voted Opt In.
