the question is, do we really want to ignore a full 1/4 of the community who doesn't want the psr to be shown? Like, "suck it up" 1/2 wants it?

Personally, I voted 3 as a counterweight to the voting of option 2. I am not against the disclosure of the ranking, but do not want to force the option on others. Option 2 then seems the correct choice, yet, it gives me no assurance that people will not be able to opt-out. The ability to opt-out would make it completely unacceptable for me.

On the other side...

There are players in higher tiers that are very willing to help players in lower tiers. If they see lower tier players in game, many would be willing to give them tips or take them under their wings to help them improve.

The opt in option would lead to some raging by upper tier players at lower tiers, but it would also lead to many upper tier players helping lower players to improve...And that would benefit the game greatly.

Call it confirmation bias....

I pay no attention to the ragers and do pay attention to those trying to help...

Players'll just enjoy playing with them easy. Because with the good players will not really make money and this causes them to flee this. "Fearful" that and WHAT will happen.

Anyone who votes for anything but the full hidden option is voting for a toxic community.

I dont really want to be name-and-shamed case I'm not in the top 25% of players. That kind of hate is simply not helpful to anyone.

I want to see the competition and have a record on the results of other (like the last excel sheet you did not get fast to your boss but you coworker, and then he got a promotion and you not ) promotion here = friendlist of a high tier group ...

You you are toxing the forums and minds by not wanting to be equalized!

Let's see where this will lead to !

That would be enough for me.

Thank god they voted to print warning labels on stuff instead of keeping it hidden. Otherwise I never would to have got to read your inspiring post.

I knew I should have selected Gun Shy on that poll it would have solved so many problems ;)

I want opt in so I can turn mine off. Then I can spend the entire match raging about having to play with low tier morons. You have to see this kind of ranting from the first to die now anyway, so why not join in on the fun.

Google "XVM" and WOT and see for yourselves, it did nothing but promote elitism and aggression. The WOT playerbase got worse after XVM was launched by a country mile.
Human nature is nasty, as are humans over the internet-especially those who believe themselves to be superior. Give them a tool to batter you with that and watch the mwo world burn.

It would clean up most of the LRM's are op threads.

Why do you think I've promoted single player/coop campaign for so long? The Internet is toxic any time there is competition there is elitism. Just how the world works.

How an LRM's op thread will go under full disclosure.

Thread: LRM's are OP and too easy to use I die from them all the time.
First Post: Oh you're Tier 5 cover must be op too! /end thread

Yes, and I agree with you, but I must agree with Kamiko a bit here too.

OP: LRMs are OP and as a Tier 1 player, I can tell you with authority L2P noob.
First Response: yeah well I like them.
OP: and that's why you're Tier 3.

DCUO has Wavedox which allows you to track players complete stats and even what feats it's recommended to complete to improve that toon. In fact, I have seen competitive players who will not start a match till they Wavedox everyone in their team, and if they have too few skillpoints or their loadout stinks, they will kick and reopen the instance till they get someone "competent". thankfully Daybreak Games installed a 3 hour kick lockout to stop this practice, BUT it is still a big problem.

The internet is toxic. This community is outright vile at times. Mankind will always look for reasons and ways to discriminate against another to achieve power or authority over others because we are by nature evil. Having Tier be public before a match will be a problem, but after match will still be a problem because players will learn names and quit matches because of it if their team is too derpy or the enemy too high in their opinion.

For this reason, the tiers need to be hard locked, or at least you cannot play any tier higher or lower by 1 from yours.

The thing is,, feedback from low tier (read: new) players is also useful to the devs. It helps them to see what the perceptions and experiences of new players are.

To use your example, okay, they may be WRONG about LRMs but it is still useful to know that some players perceive them as really problematic.

Maybe LRMs need to be better documented? Maybe the upcoming tutorials should focus on finding cover? Maybe the stats of LRMs can be tweaked in ways that make them more effective in high end games and less effective in low end games?

What I am saying is if PSA becomes a club to shut down discussion and make people too afraid to post then that is not a good thing.

I have skimmed this thread but have seen your name several times and have only looked at a few of the 27 pages. If your passion on the subject gives an indication of how certain people are going to behave then I am thinking full disclosure is not a good idea.

I respect your right to display your tier but I do not think everyone should be forced to participate, at least at first.

You can't please them all. My guess is they'll look at how many "whales", that is big spenders, are in the "private only" group. If many more are in the other groups, they'll indeed say "suck it up".

I'm not sure why this is such a problem. There are loads of people that feel they're smoking hot when they flat out suck. Unless their entire ego is built upon lies and self-deception, this can only help them. Find out you're not ub3r, then seek a unit to help you train. I have personally helped many n00bs who joined our unit looking for guidance.

The other thing to look at - nearly EVERY modern multiplayer game lets you show off your status. The only difference is you can EARN uber-rare gear by WORKING HARD - either grinding or using obscene amounts of real money. In MWO grinding/buying helps, but in the end-game your skill is what sets you apart.

You bring up an interesting point, it certainly would reduce bickering about who knows better. However I'm quite sure PGI will consider harassing based on tier status to be a serious offense.

Yeah, lets do this. Then we know who to blame for a loss even before the match starts. Should help liven up the conversation in voip.
