If those people actually TRY HARDED in solo queue...then they'd probably make higher tier.
In the end I think tier is really meant for those who are actually trying to get better. For those who play the game for fun, it's meaningless.
This is why Tiers should not determine whether a person's point is valid or not. A tier 5 player who's been playing since closed beta that has tried every single frankenstein build has probably a a much more grounded opinion than the Tier 1 who's been playing some Clan/IS Meta-Grinder.....
If anything...It is time spent playing the game that would count...not Tier.....

same here playing from the start cb tester too and my k/d is 1.4 but yes i tried all kind of builds and still testing or sometimes im just trolling

it might even promote people trying harder to win a game, when some are higher tier than others.
Cause it feels good to beat a person who is ranked better than one self

But there should be either ranked games or PSR per chassin as this current setup force people to drive meta mechs all the time. What about funny builds? Troll builds? Mastering new mechs?

My ten cents: Imma prolly a tier 4, 3 AT BEST player, but I don't care if my PSR is shown to everybody. Everyone has to start low, so no shame in that. Also my ePeenor is small and don't care about such competition. If your playing to increase THAT, I think your priorities are wrong.
One thing that could be shown alongside the tier could be the time on the battlefield. If you've fought under 24 hours total, it's OK to be tier 5. I had to play a loooong time to get any good, also still maybe in tier 4?

Another point: I'd like PGI to clarify what "very high", "high", "low score" is (in numbers pls.) and how that score is calculated.
Also, the new scoring system needs some adjustments. One example: one game (in a dire) i got 500 dmg, 2 kills, 0 assist, we lost 3 or 4 to 12. 195 score.
another game (same dire, conquest) we won, only 70-ish dmg (b/c i died early), no kills, no assists, 135 score. Just doesn't seem right to me.
Just had another game: A maddog and me (cheetah) captured the enemy base and won the game for our team. i ended up having 1 kill, 2 assists, 147 dmg and a 160+ score?! So PGI wants us to fight to death even in assault mode instead of making tactical decisions? The score system is just flawed atm.

As for people who would invalidate someones opinion because of a LOW PSR rating. Shame on you, just because someone is bad at playing the game does not mean they wont have valuable insight to offer. *Sigh* Nature of the beast I guess, It will happen, but it's a shame.
Take some of the people that make the game, aside of knowlegde on the inner wokings of the game. Some of them may not have a "Try-Hard" Rating, But they may have valuable opinions on some things. I mean just look at some of the non commmunity suggested improvements that have been made.

Killing blows are luck, we all have had mechs we did 99% of the work and someone got the last hit for the big bucks. Why isn't there a system that rewards the % of player you killed or something.
I also find find damage to be a odd way to judge skill. Who is more skilled the guy who kills someone with 2 shots or the guy who unloads endless volleys of missles slowly stripping a mech down until it falls apart. I would argue the first but the game rewards the second.
There is also little to no reward for scouting of any kind. Often it is much higher risk than it's worth as far as reward. How do you rank someone who drives a mech that provides utility to a group but gimps his mech.
Why isn't there a reward for AMS, Providing cover from missles should be rewarded. You get ECM bonuses for just having it on or off, just about everything else you do gets a reward of some kind but AMS is not only ineffective for the tonnage and only viable when deployed across multiple mechs but worth 0 points for anything.
This whole player ranking system to me could just be a new way to say I do a lot of damage, until it can show me it had more thought put into it than that. I could care less about what it is or tracks, I have no control over how it handles my games so letting me know where I fit in the cog doesn't really matter beyond flexing on forums or in game.
If I'm bad do I really want to know I'm bad and if I"m good do I really need to know I"m good? The entire reason behind this system is to give players a way to I guess figure out who is good and not but it doesn't have the player base to enjoy alienating customers based on skill.
Edit: I would also like to see damage mitigated. I would love to see and be rewarded as a bigger mech for taking a beating and allowing some lighter guy to get shots in. Currently there is nothing like that. So an assault that stood dead still and got cored gets the same reward as one who managed to use all his armor to mitigate. The only rewards system in this game is kills and damage and that is why the community is focused on it, they can say anything they want about rewarding other things but at the end of the day it doesn't mean as much as kills and damage.

There is absolutely no reason to hide Elo/PSR scores, let alone tiers. Nothing that come with making them public isn't happening already, be it "gaming" those scores and/or whatever bragging it brings along.
Now let me ask you ... how many times did you see somebody trying to lead his team in PUGs? Wonder why? Perhaps because its just "some random guy". Now strap a "skill-score" to a random guy and suddenly everyone in his team can see that he either has a clue, or does not, i.e. everyone on the team will be more likely to follow a good player/players, support a good player/players and visa versa. This leads to better, more organized matches. But I guess there are lots of bads (devs included) who don't want that, huh?
Bads are gonna bad. Keep calm and make PSR scores public.

Get over it -- some of these player are just WAY better than the rest of us and if they want to flaunt it then they should have the right to do it. Olympic athletes and Professional athletes do it and the world doesn't have a problem with it -- we actually PAY to watch them do it.

Unfortunately, that would shift it towards toxic use. A new player may have a terrible rating, but they may want to learn and be capable of learning. However, with a T4/5 tag forced on them, they might get unfairly blasted by teammates and, as a result, not even bother and quit the game due to toxic community members.
I say make it opt in. If you want to show your tier, do so. If you don't want to, don't. Frankly, I am curious for curiosity's sake alone as to my tier.

The people in the games of this newcomer will also be tier 4/5. Remember 40% of the games population will be tier 4/5. So why would they blast someone on their tier?
Besides a newcomer is one of the few that will likely see an improvement of his tier level over time. That should be a nice motivation boost.
