Any that can reach 120km/h with an XL engine? And preferably able to take a couple of AC2's or an AC5.

Getting that much speed combined with that payload usually doesn't happen...

Most mechs that reach that speed either have too little pod space, or if you have the guns then you don't get the speed.

Maybe Cicada 3C?

Thanks. I didn't really expect there to be much if anything. As a new player I'm finding fast 'mechs to be much more forgiving while I learn the game. Rarely caught out of position, and can easily escape if I do make a positioning error. I just wanted to try a mech which could use AC's but be quick so my playstyle with the firestarter wouldn't have to change too much.

Cicada then Treb 3C

For Fast ACs... the CDA 3C can run an XL255 2 AC5 and 4 tons of ammo... it's... well... not so good to be honest...

The WLV-6R is the best for that tbh. Massive quirks and if you choose to shove an XL350 in it... it'll go 115 kph... with 5 tons of ammo... and more armor... but it's bigger...

Problem with ballistics is you usually need 2 AC5 to do enough damage and the AC2 is useless today where you should go for a good alpha hit, just needs to long face time.

My recommendation: BJ 1x runs 116,8 with a 295xl and 6ml + 2mpl. Great mech!

The 3C works fine with one AC/5 and one ER-PPC and runs at 118 Km/h with Speed Tweak. The 2B runs at 130 with Speed Tweak with 5 Medium Pulse

Centurion D with a XL375 goes 133 after speed tweak.

Although weapons wise, slightly lacking. 2 ML, 2 SRM4?

But a whole load of fun.

Ice-ferret runs 142 speed tweaked but suffers from lack of free tonnage.

Wolverine 6R would probably be the closest fitting that description.

there is a few very fast medium mechs, including ice ferret
it's easy to see on the smurfy's first page, hover the cursor over their engine limits

as for 120 kmh and ac/5, consider centurion

ac/5, 4 tons of ammo, 2 mpl, 115 kmh pre tweak, 126.5 kmh post tweak, can pack a better engine if you swap mpl for ml/lessen the ammo a bit

Centurion D, XL345 (Speed after tweak 123 kph), AC/5 1.5 ton ammo, 2 ML and 2 SRM4 1.5 ton ammo. Or change the SRM4's to 1 6 and do an XL350.

The weapons load out isn't practical at that speed though, and you still aren't going to chase down a lot of lights when they move 150+. I usually target 105-ish for fast mediums.

What is this speed tweak? I'm not seeing any options in game to increase speed.

And thanks for the replies guys, this is really helpful.

For something forgiving I'd recommend a stormcrow. Its not quite as fast as you like but you can hit the 100 mark with a very respectable payload of weapons and the ability to dodge and soak a little damage (compared to other mediums and lights)
You can also load up a ballistic weapon on it, though its a clan mech so their non LBX ACs fire multiple shots in quick succession instead of the one shell.

Its commonly regarded as the most versatile and powerful medium mech, and is well worth the price.

Speed tweak is a second tier proficiency you can unlock once you have mastered the basic ones with 3 chassis of the same type (3 different firestarters for example)

way too low ammo, you need at least 3 tonnes imo

an elite skill (pilot skills tab), you need to have basic skills on 3 different versions of the chassis (for instance centurions al, ah and d) and then you unlock elite ones

Speed tweak is an elite mech skill in the skill tree. It adds.... 10% to top speed if I recall.

If you like a ballistic, you might consider a Cicada 3C with an ERPPC, it functions the same as a single ballistic and the 3C can run it cool enough with quirks, and damn fast. I enjoyed my Cicadas, I ran 3C with erppc and MG, the 3M has ECM, and the others I stuck max engine and as many ML or MPL as I could fit and went with it. Its like playing a Jener, but it can take hit a little better(or at least an additional hit) and can run the laser barf without overheating in two alphas. Minus JJ.

Otherwise Ice Ferret is ok, but mostly requires lasers also.

If you are dead set on a Ballitstic weapon, that Cent. is prolly your best bet for actual speed. Many mediums can do it at around 110kph, but few can do it at well over 125kph. I think there might be a Trebuchet too, but I would have to look.

You can build a Shadowhawk 2H with an XL360 that runs at 116.6 tweaked and carries a pair of AC5s, along with 4 tons of ammo. It's a terrible build, but you can do it.
