Let me clarify: The "fun" has been lost in the Solo Q. As I said when I drop in the group Q or CW I have my "game face" on. The point I am trying to make is that I now feel like I have to have it on in the solo Q as well. Has nothing to do with any Epeen needing to be stroked. I will give this time to see how it all shakes out (pun intended?), and I can see how the arguement that as people progress in tiers that this helps them get to be better pilots in seeing what the better players do more easily in terms of teamwork.
Before with elo I really only saw the effects when dropping in the group Q, now it is boldly apparent on every drop. That is where I am frustrated. The solo Q was where I went to relax and just play. Now it is just as competitve as the group Q, and HAVE to have the teamwork of CW. Anything less (non meta mech/ just doing something for the hell of it) hurts the team, who are now invested in their tier scheme and expect a certain level of play.
Competitive gameplay has been injected into a casual environment - make more sense?
People complained about the underhive, stomps, lack of teamwork, solo mentality in a GROUP game, so now we get rewards based on TEAM play and TEAM work.
You will no longer have "fun" playing solo while 11 others try to play as a team. You will fall in ranking.
Only way to stop this is to stop playing a solo while you are supposed to be on a team.
Keep playing solo and you will fall tiers until you reach the bottom rung where all players play like you, 12 solos playing solo complaining the other group used teamwork to stomp you.

People don't always like to be put against their equals. Now that they are forced to play with/against people as good as they are, they don't do AS well and now they are unhappy.
I'm sorry it is harder to prey on the weak and I'm sorry equal skilled teammates don't leave you as much free reign to earn damage and kills.
Now you will know how you stack up against people considered your equal. Bummer if the challenge isn't as fun as the noob hunting, but if it is any consolation, think about how much better it should be for lesser players not having the big boys hunting them down.
At least we are easily ably to identify those that liked the PUG stomps and do not want them to change.
Now that actually have to fight teams of equal skill, and behold!, they do not like it.
