I keep seeing in the forums: "Where is the proof? Show us a video, or it didn't happen." Here is the best one I could find. I don't know if it justifies the claims people are making of the mech being god like. Myself? I don't know what to say about the ACH. Haven't piloted one. I do come across them a lot. So I will say this: If it is not the mech people claim then why is it the only light on the field? Also, it is the top damage scoring mech in almost every match (I have played). They repeatedly out perform the assaults and heavies with 600-900 damage with most of the team kills. Here is a clip from Monday night:

You be the judge.

A.) Lurn 2 aim
B.) Hit reg
C.) invincible mech

Sure seemed to take a lot of damage for a light 'mech with a badly damaged CT. You were so close to him that a couple of the volleys went into his torso and arm but still... I'm going 90% 'B' with a dash of A and C thrown in for spice :P

There are so many complaints about this particular mech that this has to mean something in itself.

They do die eventually but my god do they take a pounding and A LOT of attention beforehand.

What type of affect have they had in CW drop decks? Or is CW that dead it doesn't really matter (I gave up playing IS against Clan in CW a while ago now...)

Cheers!

1st srm volley - right torso.
2nd srm volley - left torso.
3rd srm volley - center torso and legs.
4th srm volley - left arm.

The thing is: excess damage is supposed to carry over to the next componant. It doesn't. That is part of the reason why these things are so durable (in my opinion).

From what I remember, there is 50% transfer of damage from hitting a destroy component. Did this get removed at one point? Or, does the AC not properly transfer?

First it was the Spider, then the Firestarter and now the Arctic Cheater. Whatever it is they're doing wrong, they probably don't know (or don't care) because they do it over and over again.

When some people see an ACH they automatically shoot at the side torso the way they would with an inner sphere light. I think that's the main reason people have trouble with ACH's. Shooting off a side torso isn't enough to finish them the way most people finish firestarters, spiders, jenners and ravens. That could be why they seem harder to cope with than normal lights.

It might be better to aim for the legs with ACH.

I should start recording games. I could make a highlight reel of dying ACH's that makes it seem like they're easy to kill.

Yea only 50% transfers and with the spread of SRM only a few hit that things ST, so only a few missiles get transferred to CT and then it gets cut in half.

the 3rd and 4th volleys mainly hit the wall and its arm...and it was not detroyed by then so no dmg was transfered.

They have good hit boxes mixed with shooty it reg....its really not hard to kill him.
He claims he put 5 volleys into the center....only about 2 hit center and only about 60% of those missle even hit CT.

Moral of the story is SRMS are not so good.

l2aim, sorry bro but it's the truth. SRM spread even with artemis splashed damage or plain missed the tiny mech additionally your missles are on your right hand and you had your right arm mashed into the wall so many of your SRMs blew up into the wall. Also why were you shooting it's CT when it was down to 1 leg?

I can make anything look easy to kill when I'm in a Direwolf

Do it in something like a Blackjack or Adder or other mech that is in the usable but definitely not OP category.
Do it in a Locust and I'll come find you for lessons.

Seriously, the ACH gives me fits, and it's not because there's any glitch. It's just too good in every category that matters. It's not a bug issue, it's a "we designed a mech that's too good compared to its peers" issue. You can see that on paper, and the fact that those paper stats translate directly into excellent game performance. It's hard to argue that the mech is not broken. Seriously, I have seen ZERO good arguments as to why the ACH is not a problem. All I can hear is, "it's only a little better than the FS9." Seriously? That's the benchmark?

aim
hitreg maybe.

don't see much wrong here with the ACH in pspecific. the first volleys ware from quite far away and spreaded across it,
0:40 hit was sproperly detecting
0:43, not sure about this one, it was either not registering, or you had the bad luck to hit its already broken leg. because your arm crosshair went downwards a bit and it looks like you are hitting the leg with the entire volley. This means then 2x damage trasnport, laving nearly nothing going to the CT which repsonds with slight damage, - would need a frame 4 frame analsys to see this right.
0:46 was bad aim7positioning. you wnt too close, and so the line of fire of your srm's only could hit his arm, which ti did, fully registered and blew it off.
0:51 was the killing blow, workign normal.

question: why haven't you not simply aimed at the broklen leg? would have been dead at 0:40 already then.

also there are many FS9 pilots outperformign assaults, thats not unusual and even happened before quriks.
and what outperforming those below 200 damage most people did in this match? thats not really hard lol. You can't say ACH Op because it exceeds the other guys not able to break 200 damage.

SRM's are garbage against lights. They are the worst weapon system against them. They never concentrate damage against such a small target, even at point blank range.

I don't see anything wrong there. The missiles spread to each edge of the mech's silhouette and then some, and some of those volleys were aimed at the arms.

In my experience it's a LOT better than the FS9.

FS9-S 1.5 w/l 2.17 KDR
ACH-Prime 3.14 w/l 7 KDR (!)

Maybe it's me having improved. But I perform consistently better with the Cheetah than I do in any other light. More kills, less deaths, more wins.

The OP's example is off though. SRM's are terrible against anything smaller than a Hunchback, and even then they are mediocre unless you can see the colour of their eyes. The ERPPC aimed at the CT or left leg would have killed it.

Show us the same with PPFLD or hitscan weapons (as I believe Sarlic did in another thread), and the argument has more credibility.

with those numbers, especially w/l numbers it's either group queue drops were your group matters more than your mech or way too few games to have the proper stats
